Chapter 49 - 49

As the esteemed leader of the Jura Tempest Federation, Rimuru Tempest diligently performed his duties, ensuring the prosperity and happiness of his diverse populace. He also made sure to incorporate moments of rest into his schedule, a human custom he had grown to appreciate, despite not strictly needing it. Indeed, he had grown so fond of his human form that he often forgot to revert to his original slime state, completely oblivious to the subtle changes occurring within his own evolving body.

One quiet morning, within the solitude of his private chambers, Rimuru attempted to shift back into his iconic blue slime form. To his utter bewilderment, he found he couldn't. He concentrated, he willed it, but nothing happened. Perplexed, Rimuru consulted his faithful companion and ultimate analysis tool, Great Sage.

"Great Sage, what's going on?" Rimuru mentally queried, a note of confusion in his voice. "Why can't I turn back into a slime?"

Great Sage's response was a torrent of highly complex data, a dizzying blend of advanced magical theory and intricate scientific principles that went far beyond Rimuru's current comprehension, touching upon the very convergence of science and magic. Sensing its master's befuddlement, Great Sage mercifully provided a concise summary: Individual Rimuru's current human form has become the default state. Genetic restructuring complete. Transformation into slime form is no longer possible.

Rimuru's current appearance was, to put it mildly, stunning. It was the perfected image of Shizu, infused with an even more ethereal beauty. Her previously slender frame had subtly shifted, her figure now exquisitely proportioned, accentuated by a generous bust that could rival even Shion's impressive endowments.

Over the past few days, during his moments of leisure, Rimuru had found himself drawn to increasingly "girlish" hobbies. He had spent hours with Shuna, discussing fabrics and designs, even asking her to craft intricate female undergarments. At the time, he had attributed it to a whimsical curiosity, an extension of his endless fascination with human culture. He recalled feeling a strange pang of envy whenever he saw Shion's magnificent chest, which had, subconsciously, driven him to "remodel" his body to match.

Now, as Great Sage's report continued, the pieces clicked into place with horrifying clarity. Furthermore, the genetic restructuring has resulted in the acquisition of XX chromosomes. Individual Rimuru is now biologically female.

He... No. Rimuru was no longer a "he." He was now a "she." The first slime to possess a definitive gender. The realization hit Rimuru with the force of a physical blow. Her entire existence, her very identity, had been fundamentally altered. A profound sense of depression, a feeling she had rarely experienced before, washed over her, sending her spiraling into a deep, emotional abyss.

Meanwhile, in his tranquil riverside house, Rin felt a familiar itch for change. He'd been indulging in his favorite pastime of fishing, but a fresh perspective was needed. Besides, he hadn't visited Rimuru in a while; it was always Rimuru who made the effort to seek him out.

For the past few days, Rin had been aware of Rimuru's gradual, unconscious transformation. His Mind Reader ability had given him a front-row seat to the unfolding metamorphosis, and the sheer beauty of Rimuru's new form, coupled with her complete unawareness of it, filled him with an almost gleeful excitement. He'd observed Rimuru's thoughts, often filled with whimsical, almost innocent "girly" musings, which Rimuru had simply dismissed as normal.

It didn't take Rin long to reach Rimuru's house. He knocked on the door, but there was no answer. He could sense Rimuru's presence beyond the door, thinking perhaps she was occupied with some important task. Minutes stretched on, however, and still, the door remained closed.

Concerned, Rin decided to force the door open. Inside, the room was dimly lit, and there, on the bed, sat Rimuru. She was undeniably beautiful, even with the undeniable aura of depression clinging to her.

"Rimuru, why didn't you open the door? Is there something wrong?" Rin asked, his voice gentle.

Rimuru didn't respond, her gaze fixed on the floor. Rin decided to sit beside her, hoping to offer some comfort. As he moved to sit on the edge of the bed next to her, a flicker of something new crossed Rimuru's face. The deep depression that had clouded her features suddenly lifted, replaced by a surge of acute embarrassment. She scrambled away from him, her movements surprisingly swift, a deep blush rising to her cheeks.

Rin was taken aback by her sudden, intense reaction. He immediately activated his Mind Reader.

Rimuru, from her new vantage point across the room, stared at Rin. Why does he shine so brightly? she thought, her mind a swirl of new, confusing emotions. His presence, his very being, seemed to radiate a dazzling aura that she had never perceived before. Her heart, which had been heavy with despair, began to pound a rapid, unfamiliar rhythm. In that instant, the profound depression that had consumed her vanished, utterly forgotten in the face of this unexpected, dazzling vision of Rin.
