To fight back, humans created a new kind of warrior—half-human, half-Eater. These warriors were given living weapons on their right hands and a game system in their minds. Every time they kill an [Eaters] they gain something called a [Feed Count]. The more Feed Counts they collect, the stronger their weapon becomes. Eventually, they [Rank Up].

Johnquis became one of these warriors, known as an [Eater Blade]. But unlike others who formed swords, guns, or shields, Johnquis only got a [Chain]. Because of this, he was slow at collecting Feed Counts and became the weakest and lowest-ranked warrior.

But his chain was never made to kill.

It was made to capture, tame, and control zombies.

He didn't waste a heartbeat of his Hell's Snare. He lunged at the nearest Eater, the chain snapped out, hooking tight around its throat.


The head twisted clean off, rolling across the blood-slick tiles.


He swung the chain sideways, it cut into another's neck, popping vertebrae like bubble wrap.


Another lunged, half-free, too slow. Johnquis spun, his heel crashing into its skull. Bone split like an egg.
