Chapter 3 - THE DAY WE WERE EVERYTHING

There was no official beginning.

No grand confession.

It just… happened.

One moment we were texting at 2 a.m. joking about stupid reels, and the next, I was calling him mine.

He was mine.

And somehow — I was his.

We didn't need to say it out loud to make it real.

The way he looked at me, like I was his whole world , made everything else disappear.

We started dating — quietly at first. But love doesn't stay quiet for long.

We met every day.

Somewhere between school corridors , tuition parking lots , or his gali after my classes — we found ways to be together.

Some days, we didn't even talk much. Just being near each other was enough.

And when we weren't together in person, we were on video calls — pure din

Until one of us fell asleep mid-convo.

He'd always say,

"Sota reh, main idhar hi hoon."

And he meant it.

Our chats were never-ending — from "good morning" to "goodnight" , with memes, late-night rants, and stupid inside jokes only we understood.

It wasn't perfect — but it was ours.

Eventually, the school found out.

People whispered, teased , stared in class — even teachers gave that look.

But honestly?

We didn't care.

We were too busy being in love.

The kind of love that makes every song sound like ours.

The kind that turns silly glances into memories you'll never forget.

The kind that makes you believe — this might actually be it.

He held my hand like he'd never let go

And I looked at him like he was every prayer I'd never had the courage to say.

But…

(And it's always the "but" that scares you the most, isn't it?)

Something started to shift.

Small at first.

A late reply.

A shorter call.

Fewer "I love you"s.

I told myself I was overthinking. That maybe he was tired. Or just busy.

But deep down, a whisper started growing louder:

What if the days we were everything… were already behind us?
