Chapter 5 - First Day of School

Very soon, Yang Xiong created a personal training plan for himself. Since he was only six years old, he couldn't yet train with weights, so his routine focused mainly on basic exercises.

The core of his training was running. In Yang Xiong's view, running was the ideal form of training, it improved speed, reaction time, and stamina all at once.

Other exercises included lifting small barbells and dumbbells to build muscle, pull-ups, push-ups, and swimming. These weren't complicated and were manageable for a six-year-old.

His mornings were still devoted to reading. In his past life, he had only read the Douluo Dalu novels and watched the anime, but it wasn't until arriving in this world that he truly understood its vastness and depth.

The world of Douluo wasn't just filled with a wide variety of martial spirits (Wuhun), many of which defied the laws of science and could even produce miraculous effects, but also with soul beasts of many species. These beasts changed in form over time, and their age could often be determined by their physical features.

Still, the collection of books at home was limited, and the explanations were not comprehensive. Most of the in-depth knowledge was likely stored within the sect's internal libraries.

Afternoons were when Yang Xiong did his real training. Every day, he would push his physical limits to the extreme expending every ounce of strength and drop of sweat, before finally soaking in a medicinal bath.

From this day on, Yang Xiong also had a companion: Liu Yu, Aunt Li's son.

Liu Yu looked to be in his twenties and stood about 1.8 meters tall. Clearly, he had undergone physical training. After all, he had previously worked with the patrol squad, a job that required combat readiness.

Unfortunately, although Liu Yu had awakened a martial spirit, he had no innate soul power and thus had no chance of becoming a Soul Master. He was only fit for regular jobs.

Within the Yang household, Liu Yu acted both as a bodyguard and as a caretaker for Yang Xiong's daily needs, in addition to doing errands and preparation work.

Every afternoon, Liu Yu would prepare the medicinal bath for Yang Xiong in advance and supervise his training to prevent overexertion.

Yang Xiong wasn't worried about his training methods being copied. They were simple routines anyone could learn. The real secrets were far more complex and still to come. Besides, Liu Yu used to work under his father, so he was someone the family completely trusted. Otherwise, Yang Lin wouldn't have brought him into the household.

Ever since he began medicinal baths and enhanced physical training, Yang Xiong's evening meditation seemed to improve. Though still not on par with those geniuses blessed with top-tier martial spirits, his progress noticeably quickened as his training intensified.

After half a month, the time for school finally arrived.

That day, Yang Lin personally escorted Yang Xiong to his first day at the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect's academy, the place where all sect disciples were trained.

The school was massive. Though it only provided basic Soul Master education, it spanned hundreds of acres. The buildings were extravagant, and there were even small sparring arenas throughout the campus.

According to Yang Lin, the sect had made a huge investment in education. Not only had they recruited knowledgeable Soul Masters as instructors, but they also had specialists for different subjects. Even campus security was exceptionally tight.

All children between the ages of six and fifteen studied here. Some would leave around twelve to fifteen years old to attend advanced Soul Master academies. Yang Wei, Yang Xiong's older brother, had reached level 21 at the age of twelve and was sent to a prestigious academy in Heaven Dou City thanks to their father's connections.

The sect went to great lengths to nurture its young talents. It even raised and managed a collection of low-level soul beasts for the students' use when obtaining their first soul rings.

Of course, these beasts were relatively ordinary, typically ranging from 100 to 600 years old. This was why most sect disciples had their first soul rings at the hundred-year level.

For students with special martial spirits or needs, the sect also maintained its own soul beast forest, something only the top sects could afford.

Yang Xiong was placed in Class 1 of the first-year grade. When he entered the classroom, many children were already chatting noisily. The room was abuzz with excitement.

On the podium sat a stern-looking old man reading a book clearly the homeroom teacher.

Yang Xiong casually chose a seat in the back. Given his mental age from two lifetimes, he had no desire to interact too closely with a bunch of six-year-olds, much less find common ground with them.

Just before class began, several people entered the classroom. One was a scholarly middle-aged man, graceful and dignified in both appearance and mannerisms. He looked about forty and radiated refinement with every movement. Behind him stood an elderly man with snow-white hair and beard, yet skin as smooth as a baby's and dressed in a spotless white robe.

Yang Xiong was stunned. He didn't expect such prominent figures to attend a primary school opening.

These two were none other than Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo, pillars of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect.

Beside Ning Fengzhi stood a little girl, exquisitely beautiful and dressed like a little princess undoubtedly Ning Rongrong.

The teacher, upon seeing them, immediately stood up and greeted them with deep respect, "Greetings, Sect Master. Greetings, Elder Jian."

All the students also stood up and respectfully echoed, "Greetings, Sect Master. Greetings, Elder Jian."

Within the sect, Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo held supreme status. They were regarded as the very soul and faith of the entire sect.

Ning Fengzhi gently waved his hand, "There's no need to be so formal. I'm here today to enroll Rongrong. From now on, you can treat her like family."

"You are the future of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. I hope you all train hard and become the pillars of our sect one day."

The students were thrilled. It was likely their first time meeting such legendary figures.

Surprisingly, after Ning Rongrong found her seat, Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo also casually found spots in the classroom and sat down, appearing completely at ease.

When class began, the homeroom teacher stepped forward and said, "Class, I'm your homeroom teacher for Class 1, Year 1. I will be in charge of your learning. My name is Lin Gong. My martial spirit is Bamboo, and I am a level 54 auxiliary-type Soul King."

"Today is your first day. Let's start by getting to know your classmates. From now on, you will live and study together."
