Evelyn POV
I watched Damien's back as he walked away hurriedly, after he left, my smile faltered.
Damien must have been so worried when I suddenly collapsed again, I also heard he threatened Lucy because of it but I'm sure it wasn't her but someone else.
Specifically, Fji. I think he poisoned the tea I drank. Like an idiot I drank the tea an enemy gave to me, how foolish. He must be thinking I'm a total moron for trusting him and drinking that tea.
Why didn't I have my guard up? I couldn't i even protect myself? Damien is the one always standing up for me, defending and protecting him and I can't even put his mind at ease for a single moment.
I sighed and laid back down.
All this will stop if I just take Fji's offer right? He'll leave me alone and Damien won't have to worry about me if I was gone, right.
The pack will have a better a Luna who can protect herself unlike me who talks big about protecting a pack whilst being unable to protect herself, so pathetic.
After a while of the same thoughts going through my head, I didn't realize when I went back to sleep.
The next morning was a bright sunny day, not at all like my mood. To ensure Damien didn't worry about me, I got out of bed and showered, ate and took care of myself.
Lucy picked out a beautiful sundress for me to wear today. I wanted to look well and happy like the weather.
I put on the dress but after staring at the mirror for hours, I couldn't see myself being happy but at least I didn't look too unwell.
"Lucy, how do I look?" I asked Lucy once I got out of the dressing room. Lucy had been insisting on helping me dress as it's her job but I'm not used to that so I've been refusing, she seemed to have given up until this morning when she insisted strongly on helping me change but I refused again. It's awkward as an adult having someone change your clothes for you. I don't think I'll ever be able to accept that.
"You look beautiful as always, my lady." Lucy replied.
"Thank you, Lucy."
I responded and was about to walk away when Lucy's voice spoke up again.
"Do you love Alpha Damien?" She asked, she was a bit hesitant but I could tell she really wanted to know.
Why would she be curious about that? Maybe because we're mates and Damien is her Alpha and she's worried about him?
"We're mates and ever since Damien and I met, he's been so nice to me, protecting me, helping me and even letting me decide on certain things. I can clearly see his generosity and sincerity towards me but…" it wouldn't be right to lie to Lucy, Damien treated her roughly but she's still worried about him, I should answer her truthfully for her loyalty.
"Although I feel a connection towards Damien, that's undeniable and I really like the way he treats me, I can't say that I do just yet. Everything is still quite new for me and sudden for me." I answered as Lucy nodded, "That's enough of that, let's go out. I want to walk around the pack house today."
Maybe moving about and getting some fresh air will help clear my head and help me decide on what I must do about Fji's proposal.
Do I accept it or do I tell Damien about it.

We walked around the pack house aimlessly until we encountered a commotion. I went to investigate what was going on.
Everyone recognized me and bowed their heads in my presence, "Greetings, my lady."
"What's going on here?" I asked.
"Anna stole my ruby necklace. It's a family heirloom that my grandmother gave to me. Although we aren't the great family that we used to be, at least I should keep my family heirloom." One of the maids responded pointing at the other one standing next to her, painting heavily. They were both disheveled and claw marks were all over their bodies and faces.
"That's not true, my lady! I stole nothing. Maria is mistaken!" The other maid shouted.
This fight has gone way out of control that they're harming each other, they should have reported this to the guards for an investigation sooner…
Thinking about it, why didn't Maria, who claims to be the owner of the stolen heirloom, report it instead of getting into a fight like this? And why haven't any guards showed up?
This Maria, must be in must be in kahoot with the guards, she bribed them and she's the actual thief of the necklace.
But who did she steal from and why is she accusing Anna?
I shouldn't make a hasty decision and should have her investigated thoroughly. I should also involve Damien so nobody tries to sweep things under the rug.
"Lucy, go call the guards." I ordered and minutes later, two guards came along with her.
"I want you to take Maria in for questioning for a stolen jewelry. I will inform the Alpha about this case."
Everyone gasped in astonishment with my decision. Anna thanked me for being wise while Maria couldn't accept my verdict and kept on asking me why I made my decision so I told her everything I considered and how she was more suspicious.
The guards took her away and since I mentioned Damien's name, I'm sure she won't get any mercy.
"Let's go." I said to Lucy but as we left, I heard whispers from some maids.
"She's not even officially our Luna yet she's walking around like she owns the place."
"Yeah. Who gave her the right to make decisions?"
"She's not even wise, who arrests the victim and lets the culprit go?"
"She must be trying to seem just and wise, trick us into thinking she's compassionate but actually she's a pretentious snake."
"She's an imposter, an outsider, soon the Alpha will realize it and kick her out."
Lucy wanted to go stop them but I stopped her instead. I won't lie, I was eager to solve the dispute to prove I was capable of being the Luna and that Fji is wrong but it seems I went about things the wrong way.
