Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Diego

Yawning, as I flip the blanket away from my body.

Today it's a bit cold, and we will be outside, rounding the ground.

I rub my eyes with the heels of my palms before I sit my butt on the mattress.

With a low groan, I stand to my feet. I can't afford to be late, and it's 4:30 in the morning, so I rush inside the bathroom first to fix myself before Lucas and Jules wake up.

I relieve myself first after I am done, I wash my hands, wash my face brush my teeth then stroll out.

A loud sigh escapes my lips. I don't know how these two were surviving before I came here because I'm the one who wakes them up every single day to fix themselves.

We only rest on weekends, no lessons, or doing some practice but they said if there will be some competitions against other schools, we will also practice on Saturday so we should be ready.

I'm not yet the best, even though my coach recommended I watch some videos on the internet and I did, or I do every night before I sleep and I would feel like "I got this" but the moment my hands hold the bow and arrow, I just become monotony.

While Bruce doesn't stop crowding my space, and he's even worse now.

He made sure to sit near us in the library and make sure to always be vigilant when I stood to look for books so he could overwhelm me with his masculine cologne, and grimace his face with heavy breathing.

It's like he wants to eat me up but he doesn't.

He doesn't say what's bothering him, and all he can say is "kitty" and "princess" I never thought I looked like a kitty or a princess until he.

On L.O. period he makes sure he doesn't sit near me, which is something I don't quite understand because during breakfast they eat with us without saying anything to us.

What I realized about him, is that…. He loves boiled eggs so much, that he fills his tray with them, that one day I put 3 in my tray to see if he will grab them and eat or not.

To my surprise, he did. He just stole them, right in front of me and said nothing.

Lunch time, they sit with us.

Dinner time, it's still the same.

One day I heard a few of the omegas snarling at us, but the moment Bruce appeared, they kept quiet and laid low.

Jules and Lucas wake up after 3 minutes of calling out their names, they finally groan and stretch their arms and legs while forcing their heavy eyes to open.

They don't even hear their loud alarms ringing three times for them.

"Wake up if you don't want to be on the bad side of Mr. Sawyer," I tell them.

We met Mr. Sawyer on Friday during our L.O. period to inform us again about the run.

That man looks like he doesn't tolerate nonsense. He's tall but not like our principal and he's agile, fit, well-built and too muscular.

He's somehow the older version of Bruce with expression and body physique.

Lucas and Jules quickly flip their blankets wide open and jump out of their beds to their feet. Though, they're still a bit sleepy.

I'm dressed in running clothes. A jogger pants, runner shoes and short-sleeved tees.

At the exact time of 5 am, we arrived at the ground after running through the corridors to reach and found few learners there.

I look around, but I don't see Mr. Sawyer and as well as Bruce. I don't know why I'm looking for him.

When I avert my eyes back, I find Lucas also wandering his eyes – definitely searching for Lian.

Then suddenly, a quick rush of slim shivers slid down my spine and arch my back slightly when a mountain-like, walking towards….. us? Me? With his best friend.

Bruce is wearing black jogger pants, and a black tank top just excruciatingly exposing his rights, broad biceps and well-sculpted shoulders while his chiselled torsos are printed well on his top.

Rubbing the bridge of my nose and trying to clear my throat not audibly because it would be awkward I face down and clear it, then my eyes avert from the ground and trying so hard not to paste them on his— area…. That area.

It's a bit cold but I guess since Alphas are warm-blooded and they're strongly built, cold it's nothing to them since Lian is also wearing the same attire but with different colours, just dark grey jogger pants and a white tank top, nearly matching his skin tone.

A gush of masculine cologne overwhelms my nose immediately this dark brown skin tone brute stands behind me, just right behind me and says nothing… not even a "good morning, kitten" as if he always greets me.

Bruce's right cheek has a vitiligo that is round like a map, with his both hands scattered with the vitiligo, and has no tattoo so far, but all learners have no tattoos, it's the rule here.

We can pierce our ears however we like but not on the face, and we can do a variety of hairstyles as long they're neat.

Bruce has this amazing hairstyle that I really love trailing my eyes on it every time he crowds me with his mountain body, but now he has a black bandana wrapped around his head and covers the artistic cornrow hairstyle he made on his head and now it's only his braids that false to his cheeks which are peeked out and he still looks awesome.

He's the most handsome thing I've ever met. I admit.

The guy with full plump honey lips, hazel eyes that I could stare at for days, a goatee beard, well-trimmed black hair on both sides, cornrows at the top with braids, well-trimmed brows and long lashes.

I'd never seen such in my life until I entered this school.

Frowning.

But he hates me which I still don't understand why, and he calls me names but I call him brute, which makes me feel better.

I haven't seen his smile yet.

Does he even have one?

Fighting myself not to turn my head and look up at him because he's that tall.

Fighting…

Clenching my fists to stay in control.

Just a bit of a glance or a glimpse will be okay.

Control yourself, kitty.

Wait… did I just call myself Kitty?

Ugh….. I'm turning.

"Good morning," Mr. Sawyer.

Argh, I didn't turn and maybe it's a good thing.

"I'm sorry that I'm a bit late, and I can see that everyone is here so listen up, you're going to round this ground in 10 pairs, so please pair yourself up. Now," Mr. Sawyer shouted, and already two arms looped around mine.

Obviously, Lucas and Jules while we look around to see who comes in to pair with us and wow, they're coming in large but we all know why they are coming here.

Because of the one and only, school president who's still behind me and rigid like he will be punished by the grounds gods if he moves an inch.

A Few learners moved away after they saw that they're many and now they're forming their own pack.

In a few minutes, the second pack ran back to their position and now it's our turn.

I'm in the middle of Lucas and Jules on the first row and I can hear Bruce's breathing behind me after we stand on the line and wait for Mr. Sawyer to release us.

He does.

Jules and Lucas just sprinted like their lives depended on this run while I ran smoothly. I don't want to get exhausted.

But then, some brute just wants to ruin my day by commenting, "I guess kitties will always be kitties, acting like they're special and princess." With a smirk.

I furrow my brows. "What's your deal?"

Lian passed us and a few others.

"Deal?" he raised his brow.

This— confuses me.

"What do you want from me?" I ask while panting.

"From you? Nothing weakling," with a slight wink he says while matching my pace.

Gosh, he's so tall.

A little scoff. "Then I guess you have some serious issues going on in your life, brute. Maybe daddy issues or mommy issues," I wink back with a small smirk smile.

He goes menace in a blink of an eye and turns red.

The brute is fuming and now he just sprinted.

My eyes are on him, on his back working it as he runs so fast and manages to pass Lian too…. such a show-off.

Bruce looks different from his school uniform, and both suit him.

I turn slightly and I see there are two omegas behind me just running like me.

This is not a competition, so no need to run like we are in one, then I hear some wailing from other learners.

I check as I run and I see they are cheering on the school president because he made it to be number one.

Rolling my eyes and sigh as I run till the end.

After 1 hour and 39 minutes of washing our bodies and putting on our school uniforms, we stroll out of our dorm room and walk into the corridor to our classroom while talking about our new mute friends.

We still don't know why Bruce and Lian suddenly have their interest in us but don't say a word to us.

Jules has tied his hair up today in a neat ponytail and just waggling it with each step he's taking.

While Lucas and I are still in the same hairstyles and everything as always.

Goosebumps print on my skin, while the back of my hair stands up when the masculine cologne fills up in my nose from behind.

I turn to see firm Bruce with Lian then turn back.

With an abrupt halt, I hit his hard chest with the back of my head and nearly made him fall but he balanced himself.

I was going to be smashed if his mountain body was going to collapse on mine against the hard floor tile.

He hiss.

I snarl at him without turning then I make an abrupt turn to get welcomed by his knitted brows.

"What the heck is wrong with you?" he dares to ask this while he's the one following me around like he's my shadow.

"Get a life brute, and stop following me like I owe you something. I don't think your mate would like this," I growled and walked away.

I don't know why I mentioned the "mate" word but I did.

It's wrong. Imagine being informed that your mate is following another omega around. So he should stop.

Before reaching my classroom door, my hand received a grasp. The hardest yet gentle grasp with a low growling, "Don't you dare mention that word "mate" to me."

"Are you doing well in your head?" I'm honestly worried now.

He drops his face like a cute baby.

His jaws are slightly working out while rubbing his lips against each other like he's trying so hard not to separate them and utter nonsense to me.

I bit the insides of my cheek with our eyes interlocked.

I see my reflection in his eyes, and I was not aware that they're golden hazel, or did they change just now?

The locking of our eyes is trying to bring my sudden weak knees to the floor with a little escape of flat voice and a racing heart, I say, "Bruce."

There's an energy around us that feels so strong and wrapping our bodies together and I can't fight it.

It's strong, like the hand that never left mine… it's heating up… more like a lava.
