Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Trial Mission

"My name is Lu Yin, don't get it wrong," Lu Yin said.

"Is that your name on Earth?" Granny asked.

Lu Yin didn't answer, but stared at Granny, "Log into the cosmic network and change Jinling to blue."

Granny sneered, ignoring him.

Lu Yin sighed, "Actually, I don't like using torture, but this is the Xing Camp, you understand. They have many ways to make you submit."

Granny was furious, "These natives will pay a heavy price."

"Before that, you'll pay an even more terrifying price," Lu Yin said coldly, staring at Granny.

Granny and Lu Yin faced each other, and finally, she succumbed. After all, she was just a student. She could be arrogant, cold, even cruel to the people of Earth, but that was due to the difference in status. Once that difference was erased, she was no different from an ordinary student.

Granny, in front of Lu Yin, changed Jinling to blue on the Earth map within the cosmic network.

Lu Yin looked again. A part of Earth had already turned blue, which meant those areas were completely controlled by these students. Of course, it wasn't entirely so; perhaps there were also situations where students were controlled and forced to turn areas blue, but such situations shouldn't be common.

Some parts of Hua Xia had turned blue, as had areas in Europe, America, and even Africa. Among them, what concerned Lu Yin the most was Hubei; that place had also clearly turned blue.

Lu Yin pondered, "Did Liu Shao Ge submit? Or was he killed?"

"I ask you, are there any strong individuals among the descending students?" Lu Yin stared at Granny, asking.

Granny shook her head, "I don't know. The planetary evolution trial is conducted by the Great Yu Empire, coming from all major academies. I only know the situation of the Empire's First Military Academy. Tres should be considered very strong. I really don't know about the others."

Lu Yin didn't press further. After all, the real test was in over two months. He was confident in dealing with the first group of students.

Everyone was busy today. Lu Yin personally left Jinling, hunting down Heaven-grade mutated beasts detected by his personal terminal. It wasn't until five days later that the busy period came to an end.

Lu Yin organized a meeting, attended by all the Myriad Commanders, including Luo Yun, who had just rushed back from the frontline base.

Upon his return, Xu San was completely convinced by Lu Yin. Having joined the Xing Camp not long ago, he had already replaced Xing Sheng's position. He felt his future was bright.

And Lu Yin admired Xu San even more. Xu San, thanks to his support, had already entered the Earth grade, which was the Gaze Realm. As long as he reached the Contemplation Realm, he would be very valuable.

Because of Lu Yin's praise, Xu San was full of enthusiasm, secretly determined to become stronger quickly. The more enthusiastic he was, the more Lu Yin praised him. Everything was developing towards a beautiful future.

At the meeting, no one disagreed with Lu Yin. Daring to intervene in a Heaven-grade battlefield itself spoke volumes, let alone that Lu Yin had now frankly stated he reached the Heaven-grade. Heaven-grade, that was Xing Sheng's strength, even less dared to be provoked by a Myriad Commander.

As for the two Myriad Commanders who had defected to Granny, Lu Yin stripped them of their positions and demoted them to the military to atone for their sins.

"The most important thing today is to abandon the front line and fully expand the Jinling base," Lu Yin said, looking at the remaining eight Myriad Commanders.

Someone hesitated, "Opening the passage to the capital was Xing Sheng's basic strategy. If we abandon it, it might not be good."

Qin Xuan, the woman with glasses, looked at Lu Yin and said deeply, "I agree. With Jinling's current strength, it's simply not enough to connect to other regions. We must stabilize internally before we can expand externally."

Immediately after, Feng Hong and the others also agreed.

Lu Yin stood up, "It's decided. All soldiers of the Xing Camp are to be recalled. Expand westward, gradually reclaiming lost territory." With that, Lu Yin left. Before leaving, he calmly said, "Find me a map of the Solar System. The more detailed, the better."

The others at the meeting looked at each other, speechless.

Qin Xuan watched Lu Yin's departing back, her eyes thoughtful. She felt this person was even more domineering than Xing Sheng. Furthermore, he seemed to have intentions for Jinling. Xing Sheng had only let him temporarily manage it, but this person had overthrown Xing Sheng's strategy. Although she also agreed, what would happen if Xing Sheng woke up?

"Feng Hong, during this time, you stay by Xing Sheng's side, not leaving an inch," Qin Xuan whispered to Feng Hong.

Feng Hong was puzzled, "Why?"

Qin Xuan said, "Nothing, just protect Xing Sheng." She was worried that Lu Yin would make a move on Xing Sheng, causing Xing Sheng's death, and then he would completely control Jinling.

Across from them, Luo Yun watched the two conversing, his eyes flickering.

Zhao Yu had left several days ago, heading to the Northeast alone. This woman's courage earned Lu Yin's admiration, but it was very unwise.

The Xing Camp once had eighty thousand evolved humans. Subtracting the personnel lost on the front line, only fifty thousand remained today. After all of them were recalled to Jinling, Jinling's defensive power greatly increased. All the great Myriad Commanders guarded all directions of Jinling, making Jinling's defenses impregnable.

The twilight gradually faded. In the sky, beams of light flashed, destroying flying mutated beasts. On the city wall, Lu Yin said in a deep voice, "Once a beast tide or zombie tide is discovered, hot weapons can be used. Don't be afraid to waste them."

"Yes," two Myriad Commanders responded.

Suddenly, a cry echoed from afar. On the ground, pieces of zombies were torn into bloody pulp. A huge flying mutated beast skimmed low, rushing towards Jinling.

Everyone panicked, "Attack! Quick, attack!"

Lu Yin narrowed his eyes, leaping up. In his hand was Aodhan's sword. He unleashed a sword strike, the Contemplation Realm energy manifesting a downward slash that fiercely pressed the flying mutated beast to the ground. Its grotesque head twisted, roaring.

Lu Yin landed, stepping on the mutated beast's back. He plunged his long sword into the mutated beast's head. The mutated beast trembled twice and fell to the ground, completely dead.

Countless people watched this scene in shock, then burst into cheers. Someone started shouting 'Yin Sheng', and then countless people shouted 'Yin Sheng'.

Lu Yin's mouth twitched. He didn't want to be responsible for the title "Sheng" (Saint). He quickly stopped everyone, but the reputation of 'Yin Sheng' gradually spread.

There weren't many zombies and mutated beasts around Jinling; they had basically been cleared by the Xing Camp. Following Lu Yin's orders, the Xing Camp focused its main forces westward. Nearly half of the Myriad Commanders went to the western front, beginning to clear the path.

And the number of survivors arriving in Jinling also increased, naturally leading to more evolved humans.

Soon, half a month passed. There were less than seventy days left until the second group of trial students descended.

In this half-month, Lu Yin absorbed some of the Star Energy crystals, raising his combat power to fifteen hundred. Nearly half of the Star Energy crystals remained.

The primary use of Star Energy crystals was not to accelerate absorption to increase combat power, but rather to temper combat techniques and as a power source for powerful high-tech weapons, as well as to quickly replenish energy when it was scarce. Generally, cultivators who practiced the Body Forging Art rarely absorbed Star Energy into their bodies. Tempering combat techniques required energy, and combat techniques were the foundation of a strong individual.

Often, powerful combat techniques could multiply one's strength several times, and a higher measured combat power on the surface made others more wary.

Of course, higher combat power meant stronger energy within the body, and the same attack could naturally produce a stronger effect. Just like Tres, his Wave Palm could contend with Granny's combat techniques, but Tres still retained a considerable portion of Star Energy crystals to temper his combat techniques. Unfortunately, he didn't succeed, otherwise the outcome of the battle half a month ago would have been different.

Lu Yin wanted to use the remaining Star Energy crystals to temper the Heavenly Star Palm, and also to make an attempt.

After half a month, Granny had submitted. She proactively requested to see Lu Yin.

Lu Yin was not lenient with Granny. Although he didn't torture her, he locked her alone in an inhumane dungeon, with no one to talk to, no one to accompany her. Although she was fed, the food was terrible, consisting of mutated rat meat. This half-month was the darkest time in Granny's life; she finally couldn't bear it anymore.

"I, I'm willing to help you. You, you let me go," Granny said, her face pale, eyes cloudy, a foul smell emanating from her body, pleadingly looking at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin said indifferently, "What can you help me with?"

Granny weakly said, "Help you protect Jinling. You can make me do anything. Release me; I can't take it anymore."

Lu Yin stared at Granny, "I ask you, what is the final mission of your trial this time?"

Granny's eyes flickered, "You're really not a student? Then how did you enter Earth? This place has long been within the monitoring and control range of the Great Yu Empire; it's impossible to enter casually."

Lu Yin turned to leave.

Granny hurriedly shouted, "Wait! I was just curious; I won't ask anymore. I'll tell you. Our mission is to apprehend the fugitive."

Lu Yin turned around curiously, "Fugitive?"

Granny nodded, "We only received the notification the day before the trial. A fugitive bypassed the monitoring network and entered Earth, and also brought about Earth's evolution. The Empire originally had no plans to send us to this planet for the trial, but Earth has evolved, so the Empire reluctantly temporarily changed the location, which is why we were delayed by several months. Otherwise, we should have entered Earth months ago."

"Earth's evolution wasn't brought about by you?" Lu Yin was surprised.
