Chapter 5 - Floor 2

_________

At this point, Leroy thought that he was really going to die of exhaustion, especially since the gems were being protected by the system directly. But if they were being protected by the system itself, how is he supposed to get past it? Leroy continued to attack the slimes, racking his brain for any ideas, but none came to mind.

'Ugh!— How the hell am I supposed to get past this damn level if I can't!? Who designed this game? Is this a flaw, or am I really dense and missing something!?' Leroy turned to the left, turned to the right, but every angle he looked in had no answer to his dilemma. The cracks on the walls and floors did not dare to speak to him an answer. While the slimes continued their attacks on the young man, Leroy tried to think of any type of solution, eventually considering his older ideas.

Leroy considered trying to redo his previous attempt to destroy the Gems. He grabbed his dagger firmly, raising it to strike at a Gem, but could see no opportunity to make his move. A slime jumped forward onto Leroy, sticking to his arm. Leroy felt another slime attack his leg, sticking to it without a thought to let go. A swarm of slimes began to attack Leroy while he was vulnerable, making it harder for him to concentrate on finishing this floor.

Leroy cried out in anger, panic rising. Feeling fear and panic swim in his mind, his adrenaline began to kick in, raising his dagger and attacking the slimes. He went for the ones that climbed onto his shoulder first, attacking those slimes and then the ones on his arms. Each slime was being cut down to size and killed, meanwhile Leroy continued his assault on the slimes. He got to the ones on his leg, stabbing and slashing the smaller slimes.

To his left was a slime darting to him; frustrated, the male threw his dagger at the slime. The dagger flew through the air and in between the slime's little beady eyes. But the dagger didn't stop there—it continued to fly through the slime, hitting a spawn gem behind the entity.

But even though the dagger hit the spawn gem, it didn't break it...? It didn't even scratch the gem! Only hitting it and bouncing off its facet and onto the ground, the dagger landing on the cold surface of the stone pathetically.

Leroy stood there, the now dead slimes' residue sliding off his body. He stared at the gem, then at the dagger, shocked. But he put his shock to the side and began thinking deeply.

"That's odd… How did the dagger hit the gem but not break it?" Leroy

"...COME ON—THIS IS BULLSHIT—WHO EVEN COUNTS THIS!?" ARGH-FUCK THIS!"

Leroy picked up the dagger and threw it at the gem, but the dagger deflected off of it. The hilt of the sword hit Leroy straight in the forehead. Falling onto his butt, he rubbed his forehead, greatly irritated.

"This game is so stupid, what does it even m-"

Pause...

"Objects that are capable of doing damage… OH—Oh… That means it doesn't apply to all objects, just a selected few then... That's why I was able to hit it early."

Having restrictions on a particular type gives the advantage that you can use anything until it is an object made to do DMG. There is another flaw in the system of "Tower of Gods": when the system sees that an object is coming towards another object that is protected by the system, it only checks the object it is going to touch first.

In the case of Leroy, we see in the beginning that the dagger hit the "System Protected Object" because it pierced through the slime. That means it must have been covered in slime, and following the way the system checks, it saw that slime is not an object that is capable of doing damage to the "System Protected Object." 's why it let the dagger pass through the magic and hit the gem. Even though it was a powerful dagger, being covered in slime decreased its stats overall, which made it not capable enough to destroy the gem.

In the case of the other daggers, the distance between the dagger and the gem was the problem. After seeing the way he was able to hit it, it started to keep a huge distance between the slime and the gem. Right after the dagger pierces through the slime, a huge distance is left between the gem and the dagger, which gives enough time for the slime to fall off the dagger because of the air resistance/air pressure on the slime over it.

"…Alrighty then, we're going to have to lock in for this one… even though I am terribly low on stamina and mana..."

Leroy crossed his arms as he sat cross-legged. Resting his chin in his hand while he tried to brainstorm some sort of way to reduce consumption of stamina and mana.

"Wait—I saw some sort of weapon enhancer skill!"

"Use skill

[What is the enchantment?]

"Physical Enhancement Lightweight"

The sword in his hand started to feel a lot lighter than before. He tossed it into the air and watched it go back down onto his hand.

"Okay then, time to see if this works… Hopefully it does…"

Leroy closes the distance between him and the gem, the most minimal distance he can make out. Bending down, he dips his sword into some of the slime nearby, which was just a normal, lifeless slime.

Now that his sword was covered in slime, he jumped up into the air, right in front of the Spawn Gem. Preparing his blade, he swings with all his strength at the Gem.

CRACK

The gem cracked under the attack and pressure of Leroy's blade. Leroy stood in front of the gem, watching how the facet's crack slowly grew more and more. Gritting his teeth, he screamed,

"JUST FALL—FALL!"

As if the gem could actually understand him, the gem finally fell apart, breaking into multiple pieces on the ground.

"Yes!!"

Leroy glances back at the other gems, slumping his shoulders slightly.

"This is going to take a while..."

After some time...

"I don't know what these Gem Fragments do, but I got a ton of them."

Destroying all those Gems ended up having a huge toll on his body, making him feel exhausted. His body burned, feeling soreness, his legs ready to give out.

"I feel like I might die now."

He started to feel that something was weird.

Though, everything was just quiet and still now. Checking his surroundings, he realized that he hadn't received any system message informing him on how he cleared Dungeon Floor 2. Which means he missed something.

Suddenly, he remembered that he had totally forgotten about Tracer.

"Shit—I totally forgot about him! Where the heck is he now!?"

The room was a mess at that moment. Walls were cracked and full of slime, and floors were covered with large, broken pieces of the floating platforms. Everywhere he would look, he would only see destruction from the fight, each sign of the battle proving how much Leroy had fought. Though Tracer wasn't found anywhere…

"W-What if he got buried alive...?"

Leroy stood up from the ground, his eyes widening with panic.

But as soon as he stood up, he felt something cold and sharp touch his spine. Leroy turned his head around quickly; he froze seeing it was Tracer. Tracer held a blade in his hand, stabbing it into Leroy's back.

"T-Trac-" Leroy fell to the ground, his body twitching in pain.

"Did you seriously believe that you cleared the floor?" Tracer laughed, tossing the blade in the air and catching it.

"You... you're a slime...?"

"Oh, wasn't it obvious, or are you just that naive?"

Leroy attempted to stand, raising his sword to swing at Tracer, but Tracer simply dodged his weak attack.

"I should have just—" Leroy burst into coughs of pain, clutching his chest. "…killed you the second I saw you!" He finished but felt his vision go blurry.

"Yeah, but you didn't, did you?" Tracer tsked, looking down at Leroy with feigned pity, leaning down to his level. "I will admit, you did well fighting the other slimes," Tracer hummed. "But you just had to let your guard You could've been a bit generous to me and given me a real fight. Not some pathetic bullshit." Trace gritted his teeth slightly, kicking Leroy in the ribs.

Leroy grunted in pain, coughing some blood up. He felt even weaker than before, his body in pain all over.

'I have to think of it, but I can't do much with the stab wound.'

Tracer grabbed a fistful of Leroy's hair, pulling Leroy's body up a little. He stares into Leroy's eyes, past his pained expression. Tracer takes a few steps back from Leroy. "I'll give you one more chance to fight me, and properly."

Leroy let out a few gasps, standing up with a grunt of pain. He got himself into a stance with his sword and closed his eyes, then concentrated all the mana he had left with him at that point into his sword.

"I'll just—cough—finish you off with my slash..."

Tracer laughed, grinning, "In your dreams."

Leroy opened his eyes, his eyes filled with determination. He raised his sword, looking directly at Tracer. Holding his sword up high, he slashed Tracer. The first slash hit him from his left shoulder to his right hip. The second is from his right hip to his left hip. The third from his left hip to his right shoulder. Lastly, the fourth slash goes from his right shoulder, through his neck, and to his left shoulder.

Leroy fell down onto his knees, his knees bruised from the fall. He continued to cough, splattering drops of blood all over the ground floor. He was in a terrible condition. His arms sustained significant damage from the Blade of the Boss Slime.

When Leroy looked back, he saw that the head of the Boss Slime was separated from its body. The separated body slowly transitioned into a colorless slime, behaving like a normal slime too.

"How… You were supposed to die! - Not win!"

Leroy slowly walks towards the head and stares at it. "...Now who's pathetic? You may have had the upper hand at first, but right now, you're just a sad piece of slime whose only purpose is to be beaten and killed by players like me."

The head turned into a small blob of slime. Struggling to move away from Leroy.

He holds his sword vertically against the slime and then thrusts it through the slime, killing it.
