After he finished with Roselle, Roman stepped out of her room. Even though he worked out every day, he still needed to take care of his health—those vixens could easily drain the life out of him if he wasn't careful.
He headed to his room, took a quick shower, changed his clothes, and made his way to the study. He just wanted to relax for a while and read some comic books to clear his mind.
As he entered, he noticed Nana sitting quietly in the corner of the table, reading a book. She looked up when he walked in, their eyes met for a second, but neither of them said a word.
Roman grabbed a comic book and sat down in a chair, flipping it open and starting to read. The room was completely silent.
After a few minutes, Nana suddenly spoke.
"We're all going to die, aren't we?"
Roman didn't catch her words at first. But once he understood what she meant, he didn't reply. He just kept his eyes on the pages, silent.
"Can you protect me?" she asked again, her voice quieter this time.
Still, Roman didn't answer. He kept reading like he hadn't heard her.
"I can help," she said quickly. "I studied radio frequencies, and I also have a master's degree in mechanical engineering. I can help you keep this place running."
That's when Roman finally looked up. He stared straight at her. His face showed no emotion, but his eyes were cold, deep, and empty. His silence was louder than words.
Nana swallowed hard.
"I just want to survive," she whispered. "I'll do whatever you want… I'll be yours completely. I don't care what you call it—I just want to live."
Roman leaned back slightly.
"Fine," he said. "If you want to be useful, then prove it."
He closed the comic book.
"Your technical skills? We'll test that later. For now, I want information."
He stood up, eyes sharp now.
"I want to know what they all think about me—the girls, the aunts, even your brother Chiran. What they're planning. What they say when I'm not around."
He paused.
"Find out. Prove your worth. Then I'll decide what to do with you."
Roman didn't say anything and kept reading. Nana quietly walked out of the room like a soldier on a mission.
The whole day, she moved around the house, listening carefully, joining conversation with her cousins, collecting small details—working like an inside agent for Roman.
After dinner, Roselle and the other girls tried to get Roman's attention. They gave him little smiles, playful looks, even subtle touches. But he acted like he didn't see any of it. He just stayed calm and quiet, as if nothing was happening. The girls were confused but didn't push it. They thought maybe he was busy or tired.
Once dinner was done, Roman gave Nana a slight look—a silent signal asking if she had completed the task.
Nana turned to her mother, Rupali, and said, "I'll be in the study room, might sleep there tonight."
Rupali, used to her daughter's odd habits, just nodded. "Okay, but don't stay up too late reading."
Then her aunt Suzen chimed in with a teasing voice, "Nana, why are you always buried in books? Do something fun and girly for once—like gossiping with your cousins, talking about boys you like, or the naughty things you'd do with them. I'd have said go meet new people, but right now it's not safe outside."
Nana gave a small smile. "Aunt, girly talks won't keep me alive."
"What?" Suzen blinked, not quite getting it.
"Just joking, Aunt," Nana said quickly, and stood up from the table.
What no one knew was that the study room wasn't just for reading tonight.
That room was going to be the meeting spot between her and Roman. And their futures will be decided their.
Later, after dinner, everyone went to their rooms. The house slowly grew quiet.
++++++++++++++++++
Roman sat silently in the study room, facing Nana. His expression was calm, but his eyes were cold and unreadable.
"Start," he said in a quiet voice.
Nana took a deep breath, looked down for a second, then met his eyes.
"All the women," she began, "they're trying to use you… to secure a better life for themselves."
Roman didn't react, just listened.
"The girls—" Nana continued, "their fathers told them to get close to you. Told them to seduce you, maybe even try to get pregnant. That way, they can ask you for money and save their family businesses that are failing."
Roman's eyes narrowed slightly, but he stayed silent.
"And the aunts," Nana added, her voice lower now. "They're no different. Including my mom. They all want to get close to you. Maybe even sleep with you—just so they can live safely and comfortably in your house."
She paused.
"My brother, Chiran… he wants to ask you for help. He has plans to start his own business, but he's too nervous to ask directly. He thinks you might say no."
Roman looked at her quietly, still saying nothing.
"In short," Nana said, "they'll do whatever it takes to stay close to you. Use you. Live under your protection."
"They want to use me, huh…" Roman muttered, his voice low, almost a whisper.
He leaned back in his chair, a slow smile creeping onto his face—but it didn't reach his eyes. Those stayed cold… empty.
"Well then," he said, his tone turning sharp, cruel. "No problem."
He looked at Nana with a hollow stare, the shadows in the room making his face look even darker.
"I'll fulfill their wish…"
A small, twisted chuckle escaped his lips.
"…by using them instead."
Nana saw the change in his expression—the cold smile, the fire in his eyes. For a moment, real fear gripped her. Her hands trembled slightly, but she forced herself to stay still.
Gathering all the courage she had, she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Then… can I stay?"
Roman's eyes locked onto hers, unblinking—like a predator sizing up prey. Nana felt her heart race. His gaze was so intense, so heavy, she had to look away. She lowered her head, unable to meet it.
Silence filled the room, thick and crushing.
Minutes passed. Each second felt like forever.
Then, finally, Roman spoke—his voice cold and steady.
"Fine. You can stay."
Nana looked up slowly, her breath catching in her throat.
"But listen carefully," he said, leaning slightly forward, the shadows dancing across his face. "If you ever even think about betraying me…"
His voice dropped to a deadly whisper.
"…be ready to suffer the consequences."
A chill ran down her spine.
Roman leaned back again, the faint smile returning—this time sharper, darker.
"I don't give second chances, Nana. Keep that in mind."
With that roman took off.
