I stared at the big city before me. The structures are still the same but more modernized. Jianchung hasn't looked more beautiful.
"Lyra, you made it. I'm so glad you're here" .
Emily Wang, known as Chen Mei in her past life was before me. For the first time in years, I smiled genuinely. She was the one who warned me about my scheming fiancé but unfortunately I turned deaf ears to her incessant warnings. She did some pretty good stuff in her past life.
"Yeah I did. How have you been Miss.Wang?" .
Teasing Emily was a thing I do in the past. I have kinda gotten used to it.
"Good and you, Miss.Li or should I say Miss. Wei?" She teased back.
"Lyra Wei is my undercover name till I get my rightful place as the heiress of the Li family. It's just a matter of some months till my plan is in the execution stage" I said with my expression unreadable.
"Enough with you getting serious, let's head to my place" Emily countered.
"Hmm" I replied.
Emily is still living the same humble life she lived in her past life. She still hasn't gotten a car and we had to hail a cab. I'm deeply indebted to her for trying to save my life back then.
The journey to Emily's house was quite nice apart from the eerie silence that filled the atmosphere of the cab. My eyes were glued to the windows analyzing the development in Jianchung.
While gazing at the beauty of Jianchung, my eyes caught something. It was a banner with a familiar face on it. It was Zhang Lei, the one who loved me from the very beginning. He was my true mate but I was yet again blinded by live. He seemed more handsome than before and he was elegantly dressed in the banner compared to before. How I wish; we could be together but I have some important things to focus on.
"Miss, I see you have been glaring at the image of Mr.James Chen. He is rumored to be a ruthless man. No one in Jianchung matches up to him except the unannounced Li heiress. I once heard that he is engaged to her" The driver explained.
"Is that so? He seems cool" I replied and then went back to my deep thought about the "engagement" the driver mentioned.
My cocky imposter has played a dirty move. She is trying to solidify her position by being with Zhang.....Well, not under my watch.
"Lyra, you still have that poker-faced expression you put on when you were about to board the vehicle. What's wrong? Still thinking about the stuff?" Emily asked.
Although, Emily seems trustworthy but I couldn't bring myself to tell her about what I'm thinking about. I want my plan to be solo and me arising from the shadows like "Solo leveling anime".
My existence is going to shake the grounds of Jianchung.
"It's nothing Emily....I'm just under a lot of pressure from my foster parents lately. They have set up some men with me hoping I'll get married and leave the house soon.
Sometimes, I think I'm just a tool for them" .
"Lyra, they told me about that and they keep on urging me to change your attitude towards the marriage" Emily explained.
One thing I can count on Emily for, is her ability to speak the truth no matter the situation but that's a flaw.
What if she was kidnapped and then forced to say some things about me and my plans?
I can't possibly take that risk.
"I knew they'll result to this from outset. They always go the extra mile to get what they want" I gritted.
"Miss, we have arrived" The driver said.
Emily and I alighted the vehicle. We walked a few minutes and then we got to her place. Don't want to risk getting caught.
Emily rummaged her bag for her keys only to find out that the door is opened.
She fidgeted on the spot but I calmed her down.
"Lyra, who do you think is there?" She asked.
"I don't know" I replied.
Immediately she opened the door, we heard some voices screaming "surprise".
I already knew about this since I was the one who orchestrated the surprise party for Emily.
She was promoted at her place of work yesterday and her friends and I made a plan to celebrate her.
"Lyra, did you know about this?" She asked on the verge of tears.
"Maybe" I teased.
Everyone partied that night and ate to their fill. I was so tired from the journey that I crashed on the nearest couch.
"Min, Min , Min" a voice called.
I recognize that voice from anywhere...It was...me.
I was waking myself up.
"You are awake" The voice whispered.
"Who are you and how do you know my past life name" I asked.
"I am you" it replied.
"How are you me?" I asked
"Follow me to get your answers" it said.
My instincts urged me to listen to the voice. It led me to the place where I was hunged to death.
I was bleeding profusely and my clothes were drenched in sweat from trying too hard to escape the agony I felt.
It was Zhao Min. My past self. The one who who was persecuted.
"Why am I here?" I asked the voice.
"You are here to unravel the true mystery about your death and your purpose. Getting revenge on the one that wronged us is the best thing to do but for you to accomplish that goal, you must get our amulet that Lei gave us.
That is our strength and the driving force that will help us get victory" The voice explained.
I get this dream everything but it was always a short dream. I don't know why it's this long.
"You are wondering why your vision is this long right? It's because you are residing on the land you were buried.
You don't have enough time. Find the amulet and remember you'll see visions often" The voice said before I came back to the real world.
"I need to find the location of that amulet and get it by hook or by crook" I said immediately I woke up.
