Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: Humiliation

Ilya stepped on Horn, took out a metal water bottle from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, and slowly poured a little water on Horn's head.

The water pouring out of the metal bottle was crystal - clear and looked extremely pure, with wisps of pure white glimmer in it.

This was the holy water that spread from the Holy Light Church in the west of the Northern Continent. It had a restraining effect on all evil and demonic creatures.

It wasn't very effective against powerful evil creatures, but they would still react to it.

In Ilya's view, the Holy Light Church was incredibly powerful. It was strange that it only occupied less than a quarter of the continent and then stopped expanding.

The water trickled down Horn's hair to his cheeks. Where the holy water flowed, it gave off a faint coolness, and the cheeks that had been reddened by the high temperature the day before returned to normal.

In another situation, Horn might have groaned in comfort!

But now, Horn had no time to enjoy the pleasure of having his face washed with holy water.

All he felt was humiliation!

"Damn it, a wild witch. How disgraceful. I really misjudged." Seeing that the holy water poured on Horn's head had no reaction at all, Ilya spat and said.

He scratched his head, tightened the bottle cap, took the little girl's hand and was about to leave. After walking a few steps, he felt something was wrong. He looked at Horn lying on the ground, rummaged in his pocket for a while, took out a gold coin and threw it beside Horn's head.

"I punched pretty hard. Go find a doctor to treat yourself."

After saying that, Ilya took the little girl out of the shop without looking back.

"Ilya, Ilya, why don't we catch that big brother and exchange him for money?"

The little girl, with one hand in Ilya's and the other waving a wooden sword, said while hopping.

"No need. Those wild witches are quite pitiful, and besides, they're not worth much..." Ilya said casually.

Hearing this, Horn on the ground was relieved, but a nameless anger welled up in him. Am I not even worth being caught by you?

Ilya! I'll remember this name!

Two days had passed since Ilya injured Horn. Horn could finally get out of bed and move around, but he would still feel a dull pain if he made a slightly bigger movement.

Enoch had clamored to go and take revenge on that guy, but Horn stopped him. Not to mention that even he didn't have a chance to chant spells and cast magic when facing Ilya. Just think about the pervert showing a blissful expression when facing a first - ring spell. What would Enoch do if he went? Commit suicide?

After Horn could move around, he went to Douglas's room.

"Teacher, aren't you going to ask who injured me?" Horn was a bit sad about Douglas's attitude. He got injured, but Douglas didn't seem to care at all.

"You were just injured, not killed, and he didn't report you. So he probably doesn't have much malice towards you and isn't a threat. So what's there to ask? If it were really important, wouldn't you tell me even if I didn't ask?" Douglas said calmly.

As he was speaking, Douglas was still carving something. It looked like a stick - shaped object now. Was he making a walking stick for some noble lord?

"The man who injured me is called Ilya. He said he's a bounty hunter, and his target is mages!" As Douglas had said, even if he didn't ask, Horn would still tell him.

"Oh, the boy from the Odin family. He should have grown up by now." Douglas pushed his reading glasses and said with a chuckle.

"What? Do you know him?" Horn was extremely surprised.

"I saw him once when he was a child." After smiling, Douglas continued carving. It seemed to be a delicate job.

"And then? What happened that made him come after you now?" Horn asked curiously. He was very interested in all of Douglas's deeds.

"And then? That's it." Douglas had a smile on his lips.

"… Forget it. I won't ask. You won't tell me anyway." Horn left Douglas's room disappointed. He thought he would hear some gossip.

Although Douglas didn't say anything, if he just wanted to know about this man, Horn still had a way. This man's target was his beloved teacher, and he couldn't just sit back and do nothing. At least he had to learn about this opponent.

Horn asked Enoch to do some work for him, leaving Enoch with a mournful face. He bought a gift and went to Aunt Mays's house. Aunt Mays's son, Locke, was also a bounty hunter. He was still recuperating at home because he got injured a few days ago.

Horn knocked on the door. A strong man with messy hair walked out, leaning on a cane. His figure was very similar to Aunt Mays's. He was really Aunt Mays's son.

"Brother Locke, I've come to see you." Horn handed the gift he bought to Locke.

"Hey, kid, why are you so polite? Come in quickly." Locke and Horn walked into the house together.

Locke poured a glass of water for Horn. Holding the glass, Horn asked Locke, "Brother Locke, how did you get injured?"

"Hey, don't even mention it." Locke plopped down on the chair and began to talk: "A few days ago, we took on a bounty. It said that there was a monster in the northern district of Lien City. A bunch of us went there. It took us several days to find a monster. Its strength wasn't very strong. We just took one hit each and killed it."

Just as Horn was about to compliment him when he heard about killing the monster, he found that there was no trace of pride on Locke's face. He said angrily:

"The annoying thing was that the monster disappeared after it died! The client didn't admit that we had killed the monster, so we got angry and fought with them. In the chaos, I injured my knee and had to come home to recuperate."

Horn's forehead was covered with black lines. So it turned out that you weren't injured by the monster but got hurt in a fight with the client.

After simply exchanging pleasantries with Locke, Horn finally got to the point: "Brother Locke, can I ask you about someone?"

"Sure, go ahead and ask." Locke said to Horn boldly.

"Do you know a man named Ilya? He wears black leather armor and carries a greatsword on his back that's almost as tall as me." Horn described this man to Locke according to his memory.

"Oh, you mean the dragon - slayer Ilya. That guy is amazing. He's a sixth - level warrior. It's said that he killed a dragon single - handedly and made his armor and weapons with the dragon's skin and horns. He's a great hero among us bounty hunters! By the way, why do you want to ask about him?" Locke said without hesitation.

"I saw him in Lien City recently. I was just curious, so I came to ask you." Horn said to Locke, "By the way, Brother Locke, since he's such a high - level bounty hunter, will it cause you any trouble if you tell me about him?"

Locke didn't suspect anything and laughed heartily: "What's the matter? You can ask any bounty hunter about that guy's information. There's nothing shameful about it."

After getting the information he wanted, Horn chatted with Locke for a little while and then left Aunt Mays's house.

Horn felt heavy - hearted after leaving Locke's house. A sixth - level warrior was a real big shot! You know, the chief priest of a city was usually just a fifth - level priest!

It would be even more difficult to get revenge...
