Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12

SYLVIA

I strolled through the packs gardens, the scent of blooming roses and freshly cut grass filled my lungs. The warm bright sunlight danced across my face, but my mind wasn't on the beauty surrounding me.

What must have happened to them?. The Thoughts of my stepmother, Vivian, and stepsister, Emily, lingered through my mind.

It had been years since I last saw them. Would the have died by the curse of the pack? Or were they banished for their evil acts? Curiosity gnawed at me. What had become of them? I pondered even more deeper.

I entered the pack, my heels echoed off the marble floors. The staff bustled about, preparing to round up their daily services. I wove through the chaos, searching for a quiet moment to gather my thoughts together.

I walked into a mini library designed specifically for the children in the pack, I ran my fingers over the spines of the leather-bound books. Memories of me hiding among the book shelves as a child, trying to escape Vivian's wrath, flooded back in my mind. I pushed the thoughts aside avoiding the betrayal of my emotions.

Who can I get such Information from? I really need to know what have become of them I pondered through as I walked and played my fingers through the books on the shelves.

The sun was getting ready to rest for the moon to rise as everyone seemed to have slightly got done rounding up for the day.

Excuse me," I said, trying to sound friendly. "Do you know anything about my stepmother, Vivian, and stepsister, Emily?" I asked a young maiden who was passing bye with some loads.

The maid's confused expression told me all I needed to know. "I'm sorry, miss. I don't know anyone by those names."

She responded as I thanked her and continued my search. I tried approaching several maids later, yet I still had no answers. Frustrated I already was but then I decided to ask further.

They pack was still bustling with the movements of the pack members who were still rounding up their days services. I walked round the pack as I observed everyone.

"Sylvia, what's wrong?" Rachel, a personal maid who was assigned to me by the Alpha asked as concern etched on her face as I stared at her surprised to see her around.

"Are you done wrapping up for the day?" I asked her as we walked together for a while.

"Of course I have, I saw a worried look on your face so I wondered if all was well. " She responded with concern.

"I'm looking for information about my stepmother and stepsister," I replied as my voice betrayed me. I don't care anyway I'm just curious about what they have become. My inner thought rumbled words in my head.

Rachel's expression turned sympathetic. "I don't know anything, miss. Maybe ask the other staff members?" She exclaimed as though concerned, she had no idea why I needed their information yet I could tell her concern through her facial expression.

" Alright then I'll ask few staffs, I hope I get someone who can help. "

I nodded as I responded and set off. Rachel dismissed her presence after the short chat.

"Excuse me," I approached a footman in the pack randomly walking. "Do you know anything about Vivian and Emily?" I asked politely eagerly waiting for his response.

He shook his head. "Sorry, miss. Never heard of them."

I thanked him as surprise prompt all over my face. I continued my search believing somehow there was hope.

I walked into the kitchen as the sounds of each step of mine echoed the floor, I found Mrs. Jenkins, the current head cook in the pack. I'm definitely sure she has an answer. I thought with confidence as I approached.

"Mrs. Jenkins, have you heard from Vivian or Emily?" I asked staring with confidence and assurance.

Mrs. Jenkins' expression turned thoughtful. "Well, miss, I did hear Vivian left the pack...but that's all I know."

Disappointment washed over me, cause I needed more to her just leaving. Did she commit a crime that led to her leaving or was it on her will? More questions shoved me.

"Thank you," I said, forcing a faint smile.

As I left the kitchen, determination fueled my search.

Next, being the last person I had in mind to ask was Thomas, the famous butler in the Viking pack. Immediately I walked over.

"Thomas, do you have any information on Vivian and Emily's whereabouts?" I asked.

Thomas' expression explained his answer already. "I'm afraid not, miss. But Simon might know something."

Hope sparked within me." How did I forget I had someone who definitely would have an answer. " My thoughts prompt with joy, remembering that Simon was my best bet to find an answer.

I made my way to Simon's quarter as curiosity and anticipation grew more deeper. I couldn't wait to hear what exactly happened to my stepmom and step sister. It seemed many pack members do no remember their existence.

Vivian left the pack, but why? There must be a reason and I ought to know the reason why. I thought as I walked majestically towards Simons quarter.

I made my way to the quarter , seeking out Simon. He'd know something about Vivian and Emily. I said to myself as I made my way off.

As I climbed the stairs that led to his room, my footsteps slowed it's pace a bit. What if Simon didn't know anything? What if he refused to tell me? I wondered in thoughts as I took each step with caution.

My curiosity grew, I could feel my heart pump faster, even though I wondered why I was obviously curious and eager about my stepmom and her daughter.

I took a deep breathe as laid my right hand on Simons door and turned the handle and pushed open the door.

I froze still, on seeing him and Tasha, my hand remained still on the door handle.
