"Nora!! You're going to be late" called out my mom as I woke up from another disturbing night. I rarely have peaceful nights, maybe its the light setting or the strong fragrance, but I didn't care. Afterall, less sleep means that I could get lots of work done at night. I suppose the first impression I give out to people might be 'a nerd' but I take pride in it because not everyone are called so and it requires dedication along with hardwork.
I ran downstairs to the kitchen after getting ready while I heard my mom talking with my brother, Michael. He was four years older than me and was not like the typical 'stepbrother'. Suprisingly, he cared for me. Actually my entire family loved and cared about me. My dad was a well renowned buisness owner and my mom, a lawyer in the same company. My brother and I were to follow their footsteps.
I hurriedly ate my breakfast and was dropped off to school. I know my day sounds boring but I'm happy with it. It just sounds realistic. No external drama and so on. I was in my final year of high school with just a few handful of friends but never had a day without boredom, something or the other kept happening to make it interesting. As I kept pondering about these usual stuff, I heard my brother's friends approaching. I ought to say, they were a gang. They had been friends since primary school. His best friend, James was the good looking among them. He was tall and I must say, he had good genes. Now the thing is, I have never talked to them not even smiled at them. I didnt like people and I kept my distance from everyone including my friends.
I had reached right on time for my first class, and took a seat beside my best friend, Sam. She was nice, maybe extremely nice. She saw good in everything and that is why we were friends. I was her friend but i was never attached to her emotionally like all friends were. The day went on as usual. Today was the last day of my regular class and my final terms were begining next week. I knew I had to ace it to get into one of the ivy leagues and i had no time to waste. As soon as i returned home, I studied. Days went by, and the only thing I did was studying. My exam was supposedly easy. I knew all my hardwork was worth it. I got into a prestigious institute and decided to move abroad.
Sam upon hearing my move to abroad was upset but was happy I got into the college, afterall it was really to hard to get there for programs like law. She aseked me to visit her once before going but i replied I was busy and had no time. I knew it was rude but i didnt want to miss her. A year passed by after moving abroad, I contacted Sam rarely but we were in touch. That is when a tragic incident occurs which made me lose all hope in finding my purpose in life.
