Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Even Zombies Know Fear

Old Master Ren was truly terrified.

In the original movie, when Daoist Master Four-Eyes summoned a god to possess him and beat Old Master Ren senseless, the zombie had shown the same expression of fear.

Which proved one thing Old Master Ren wasn't just a walking corpse. He had some intelligence.

He knew who he could bully and who he couldn't.

Now, as Vincent Fox stepped forward, Old Master Ren trembled uncontrollably in the corner. Nowhere to run, he shrank into the shadows like a frightened girl being bullied helpless and pitiful.

Vincent muttered, "So that's all it took to scare you? So much for the legendary zombie."

Easy for him to say.

With the kind of power he now possessed, Vincent had long since become something beyond human. Dealing with a freshly-turned zombie was no challenge at all.

Outside, Autumn Summer's concerned voice called, "Vincent, can I come in?"

"It's fine now. Come in," Vincent replied.

Hearing his response, Autumn let out a quiet sigh of relief and pushed the door open.

"Where's the zombie?" she asked.

Vincent didn't say a word. He simply pointed to the corner where Old Master Ren was curled up.

"Ah!!"

Autumn gasped the moment she saw it.

Vincent wasn't afraid of zombies. His strength was overwhelming, and his Saitama Physique was slowly erasing even the concept of fear from his mind.

Not just zombies even creatures more terrifying couldn't shake him.

But Autumn wasn't like that.

She was still, at her core, a normal person.

Zombies with greenish faces and savage teeth were horrifying, especially to someone not mentally prepared. The weaker-willed might faint on the spot.

The fact that Autumn only screamed made her braver than most.

Old Master Ren, upon seeing Autumn

Especially when he noticed how frightened she was

Suddenly regained a bit of confidence.

He let out a low growl and began creeping toward her, instinctively driven to bite and drink human blood.

But then

Hmph!

A familiar, cold snort rang out.

Old Master Ren immediately froze. His whole body trembled. He scrambled back into the corner and didn't dare move.

Vincent shot the zombie a sharp look, eyes like blades.

If Old Master Ren hadn't backed off in time, he would've been in for another savage beating.

(Old Master Ren: Damn it. How long is this hell going to last?)

Autumn finally understood. That terrifying zombie… was scared of Vincent.

She stared in disbelief. "Vincent, did you tame it?"

"Tame?" Vincent laughed. "Not quite. Just beat it into submission."

Autumn was speechless.

Then Vincent asked, "Where are the talismans I gave you earlier this afternoon?"

"Right here." She retrieved them quickly.

"Bring them. Come with me," he said.

Autumn blinked. "It's so late. Where are we going?"

"To run a little experiment."

The word experiment sent a chill down Autumn's spine.

She knew the plan. She knew what Vincent wanted to test.

Her face paled slightly, and she couldn't help but plead, "Vincent, the villagers here… they're innocent."

She thought he intended to use the villagers as test subjects.

Vincent was momentarily stunned, then chuckled. "What are you thinking? I might be ruthless, but I'd never use innocent lives for something like that."

Relieved, Autumn exhaled deeply. "Then where are we going?"

"Remember what the village chief said earlier this afternoon? About bandits in the area?" Vincent said calmly. "I asked him for the location of their hideout when I brought back the bowls."

"Bandits, huh…"

Autumn didn't object. Using bandits for this experiment? She could live with that.

In that moment, Autumn began to see Vincent in a new light.

He noticed details that others missed. Like that single throwaway line from the village chief he remembered it and acted on it.

He also had strong leadership. The entire plan so far had been driven by him. She was practically just tagging along.

And honestly? It felt good not having to worry about anything. Just follow his lead and win.

Though Autumn herself had always been strong and independent, in front of Vincent, she felt completely outmatched.

And women… tend to admire strength.

Right now, in her heart, Vincent Fox was incredibly attractive.

The night was silent.

On a deserted mountain path, three figures moved swiftly.

Anyone passing by would have been shocked.

One of the figures didn't walk like a normal person.

He bounced.

With each hop, he soared high into the air, gliding forward eerily.

His movements were stiff and unnatural, but his speed far exceeded that of ordinary humans.

One moment he was in front, and the next, he was nearly out of sight.

The other two weren't slow either, moving through the dark forest like it was level ground.

And every time that bouncing figure pulled too far ahead, the man behind him would catch up and give him a good smack.

Those three figures?

Vincent Fox, Autumn Summer, and the bouncing zombie Old Master Ren.
