Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Leo: Spider-Woman is Terrible!

Facts proved that women all hold grudges.

Because of one wrong thing said, Gwen didn't give Leo a good look for an entire week.

Every day after school, she wouldn't wait for him anymore - either going to band practice or running home alone.

However, Leo still noticed that Gwen had indeed shaved - at least his naked eye couldn't see any hair without looking carefully.

This girl was stubborn on the surface but honest in action. She clearly accepted the suggestion, but instead of giving a reward, she was playing the cold war with him.

How did she develop into such a tsundere?

"Peter! Want to come to my house and play NBA Live? I absolutely won't use Shaq this time."

After school, Leo stopped Peter Parker, who had just finished packing his bag.

Since Gwen wouldn't accompany him, life had to go on.

Without women, he still had men.

Peter was good - great at playing games. If it weren't for using the cheating OK combination, Leo wouldn't be Peter's match.

Damn, he had transmigrated too early. This era didn't even have 2K, so he could only endure various bugs playing that shit-like NBA Live.

"Sorry, Leo, I still have to go to Dr. Connors' lab, so..."

Peter looked nervous, his face full of apology, as if refusing to play games was some great error, making Leo feel somewhat depressed.

Was he that unreasonable a person?

"Forget it, Peter. Since you have things to do, go handle them. We'll talk when you're free."

"After I help Dr. Connors complete the experiment, I'll definitely stay up all night with you." Peter said gratefully, then shouldered his backpack and ran off.

A light laugh came from nearby.

Leo turned around, his tone exaggerated.

"My goodness, isn't this Miss Stacy who disappears without a trace as soon as school ends?"

"Did the sun rise from the west today? It's been five minutes since school ended and you haven't left campus yet?"

The sarcastic tone made Gwen quite angry. Bang bang - two punches that made Leo grimace in pain.

Of course, he was pretending.

Not to mention that Gwen was already holding back her strength - even if she went all out, he wouldn't feel pain.

You can say Saiyans are weak, but you can't say Saiyans can't take a beating!

"Still being sarcastic, huh? Do you want to go home for dinner or not?"

"Want, want, want, of course I want." Leo gentlemanly took Gwen's backpack and put his arm around the girl's slender shoulders.

"I wonder if this lady would care to dine with me?"

"I've been eating junk food for a week."

"Pfft!"

Gwen finally couldn't hold back, linking arms with Leo, indicating she had completely forgiven him.

Actually, she wasn't really angry - Gwen was just shy and annoyed at Leo's lack of romantic understanding.

Who directly tells a girl she has body hair?

At the same time, Gwen had a question in her heart.

These past days, she had basically become familiar with the changes in her body. She had named that hair-standing incident "spider-sense," also called "Gwen's tingle."

Only when sensing crisis would her body and brain send warnings.

But that time at the front door, there were only her and Leo, and nothing dangerous happened afterward.

It was really quite puzzling.

After pondering for two days, Gwen could only attribute it to just gaining abilities and not being proficient in controlling them yet.

...

"By the way, Leo, have you been following New York news lately?"

On the way home, Gwen tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and asked 'casually.'

Leo immediately understood why Gwen suddenly wanted to go home with him today.

So the little kid had gotten a new toy but couldn't show it off, so she could only use this roundabout method.

He went along with Gwen's train of thought.

"I have been watching. New York's been quite lively lately."

As he spoke, Leo took out a newspaper from his backpack. The cover prominently featured a masked woman in black and white tight clothing with blue ballet shoes.

The headline was also very simple - just the two words "Spider-Woman."

"You know about it? That's great! What do you think about Spider-Woman?"

Gwen's tone became much lighter, with barely detectable anticipation in her voice, wanting to know Leo's impression of this newly emerged Spider-Woman.

These past days, Spider-Woman had been active on the streets of Queens.

From small things like helping old ladies cross the street to big things like subduing robbers.

Her presence was everywhere.

Her ability to swing through the air using web and her various warm-hearted deeds had made Spider-Woman's popularity skyrocket.

Some companies had already publicly announced online that they hoped Spider-Woman would authorize them to make toys and figurines.

Leo's eyes flashed with amusement as he said casually:

"Honestly, my impression of Spider-Woman is average, or even quite bad."

"What?!"

Gwen's voice suddenly rose. When she noticed Leo looking at her strangely, she quickly waved her hands.

"Why would you dislike her? She's working so hard to help others."

"Because the newspaper says she's just a show-off."

Leo pointed at the newspaper, and Gwen finally saw which publication it was.

The Daily Bugle

Her heart immediately sank.

"Look, it says it very clearly here."

"The old lady didn't want to cross the street - she was just standing there waiting for her grandson to get out of school, but Spider-Woman took her across anyway."

"She subdued the robber, but caused over $100,000 in economic damage."

"She prevented a car accident, but when using web to control the car, she ripped off the steering wheel..."

"..."

Leo became more animated as he spoke, not noticing that the girl beside him was turning darker by the moment.

"Oh, and those blue ballet shoes are ugly as hell. Black tights with blue shoes - didn't she take art class?"

"Even an elementary school student should know that combination is a disaster!"

Finally, Gwen couldn't take it anymore and interrupted him.

"Leo, those newspaper reports are exaggerated. The Daily Bugle loves using sensationalist techniques like that."

"Spider-Woman clearly wants to help everyone, and property damage surely isn't more important than an innocent person's life, right?"

"No matter what, she has quite a few good points."

Gwen already regretted discussing Spider-Woman with Leo. She had hoped that if Leo admired Spider-Woman, she could gradually reveal her identity.

Who knew it would turn out like this?

Damn Daily Bugle!

Damn blue ballet shoes!
