Chapter 1 - Arrival

Being reborn had been pretty shitty for me but, it was at least better than my death. Some god had grabbed my soul and thrown me into this universe with no care whatsoever. I was named by my father and he had given me the name of Atin Adolkir. My name translated into basic meant 'born through death'. I had been reborn blind and my mother died from the strain of childbirth and lack of medical care. I had however gotten lucky with a father who had training in the force from the Jedi and I could feel the force within me. It was like a real sixth sense that extended all my senses to everything around me. I figured I was instinctively using the force to see.

When I eventually got to the age of 4 and past the tortuous years of uncontrollable bodily functions my father began teaching me what he knew of the force. He was a good father and teacher but was always distant, likely due to having been raised by the Jedi and losing his wife. I had been born on Concord Dawn and while it was a habitable planet it was much harder to live here than most places.

The planet had been nearly shattered in one of the many Mandalorian wars. From what I remembered of the planet it was controlled by the Protectors during the empire's reign and was Jango Fetts homeworld. My father planned to contact the Jedi temple to have them take me for training as he had lost most of his will to live when my mother died. Most of what he taught me was the Jedi teachings and indoctrination stuff along with basic sensing.

He hadn't made it very far in the Jedi which was why they let him go easily. Three days after he contacted the order my father took me to the basement of our small house on the outskirts of a city. We weren't rich but according to my father I was half mandalorian from my mother and she had got some things from her father when he died. He had always forbidden me from going down there and I didn't as I assumed that there were weapons and such down there. With my uncoordinated body I might have accidentally killed myself if I stumbled onto something.

At the bottom of the steps was a small cheap metal door to the basement. It creaked as he opened it to reveal a small armory. Everything but one piece was scattered around on small tables and the floor. Opposite the door on a tall and skinny table was a sort of mask. I had never sensed beskar with the force but I could still tell what it was. It looked a lot like a Jedi temple guard helmet but with a T shaped visor and three lines for a speaker and internal filter. It had no decorative markings or symbols with the silver color of beskar. He told me the story of many noble warriors wearing this mask and how it was an heirloom of my bloodline. According to our families records it was nearly pure beskar. After the story father grabbed some old armorweave robes and helped me put them on and then rapped some armorweave strips around my head and eyes so the mask could fit properly.

The mask had a small filter with tighter straps than the mask to protect against gaseous and chemical weapons. The robes had a small hood that when up made me look like a small uncolored Jedi temple guard. I felt very goofy like this especially when he handed me a small vibroblade that looked like a proper sword in my 4 year old hands.

After we messed around with the weapons and stuff down there he had me keep the robes on and told me to always keep the mask with me. I hung it on my belt with the small sheathed knife I had snatched from the armory. The knife was the size of my forearm but was easily concealed under my still oversized robes. A few days later I found my father putting on some armor, he had been a bounty hunter and had met my mother on a job.

He said the Jedi that would pick me up was arriving today and that he was getting ready to leave for a job with some old friends. I quickly grabbed my armor robes and mask along with the small knife. A few hours of watching my father cleaning weapons and gear went by till the time to leave came. As we stepped outside we saw a ship descending from the sky. It wasn't a very large ship but I hadn't expected anything very big.

The Jedi who exited the ship was a scraggly brown haired, toned, white guy I didn't recognize. I had to assume he was some sort of Jedi contact for the Mandalorians or even a watchman. Whatever he was I didn't really care as long as he could safely get me to the temple. We had brief introductions and a goodbye before we set off for Coruscant. The hyperspace jump didn't take very long as Mandalore and Concord Dawn are near to the Hydian Way hyperspace route which quickly and safely took us to Coruscant in around a day. Landing on the planet didn't take long as the Jedi seemed to have made a scheduled arrival time for us so we bypassed the traffic of entering the planet.

After going to the temple I went through an orientation and was quickly settled down for the day as my classes would start the next morning. I would be joining the clawmouse clan and continue with them till I became a padawan. I didn't remember this clan which was inevitable as I couldn't simply remember everything I had ever learned about Star Wars. I did however remember that most classes and such would be incredibly boring as we were just initiates and would only be learning the very basics along with the indoctrination stuff.
