Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Be Herself

Damn! Zerra cursed inside her mind. Her little fox heart beat erratically against her chest. Although she had tried to hide under the bed, Nyra was still insisting on checking her.

Did she think that she was a mutated animal? It was bad!

Fortunately, just as Nyra was taking a few steps toward her trembling little self, the rough knocking on the door made her halt her steps.

"Nyra, are you inside? It's me Darren. I heard that you were looking for me." A voice came from the door.

Nyra didn't hesitate to abandon her original intention and dashed toward the door. As she closed the door to talk to Darren, Zerra came out of her hiding place.

It scared her to death! She clutched her chest, shifting to her human form, and hurriedly went to the bathroom. If Nyra asked her where she was, she could tell her that she was taking a bath.

Her body smelled so bad anyway, from all the zombie liquid. Unfortunately, they couldn't use too much water. But… was that a problem for her? Of course not.

She took the water from her inner space. It wasn't unlimited, even though most definitely she could squander it without worrying that the small lake would become dry.

After she came out of the bathroom, she found Nyra was staring in a daze at nothing particular in front of her. She was biting her lips as she sat on the bed. Creases of worry appeared on her forehead.

"You didn't go out, right?" Nyra scrutinized her.

Zerra frowned. "What is it to you even if I go out?"

"Don't make trouble for all of us." Nyra's hands went to her temples as she rubbed them. "Control that temper of yours, too."

Zerra couldn't help but look at Nyra strangely. Was this girl unaware of her younger sister's change in temperament or what? Although Zerra occasionally acted spoiled just to achieve her goals, now that she regained her memories, she couldn't keep acting spoiled anymore.

It wasn't her. It was tiring to pretend to be someone else, anyway.

She had tried to act spoiled and be a total burden, actively hindering the main protagonists' love life, but it still didn't work. She was still in this damned world, going through the same reincarnation again.

So, she just decided to act like… herself.

Even though some misunderstandings still found its way to screw with her, in some cases, the main protagonists would be more lenient in giving her a quick death.

She noticed that Nyra's eyes occasionally flitted over some other parts of the room in doubt. Zerra pursed her lips, crossing her hand over her chest and climbed to her bed, drifting off to sleep.

Darren came again in the morning, all tired. His eyes were faintly red, like he hadn't slept all night.

"Zerra, good morning." He greeted her as soon as he saw her going to the balcony.

Nyra came out not long after and they walked away. Zerra's eyes flashed thoughtfully when she saw their backs. She retracted her gaze after they were completely gone from the sight.

The sight from the balcony made her sigh. There were more people than yesterday. The registration just resumed. She could see the soldiers running body checks on the survivors, making sure that no infected people managed to mix in.

The sky was just as gloomy, driving the atmosphere unbelievably somber, just like their uncertain future.

Daniel passed by, looking like he was in a hurry. He glanced at Zerra and snorted, hastily walking away. Next, it was Cassias.

She thought that he would have something to do outside, and no longer paid attention to him. Another audible sigh escaped her lips. Her hands cupped her cheeks. Now that Nyra was gone, it was better for her to go and focus on cultivating again. Who knows…

As soon as she spun around, her heart nearly jumped. Cassias already stood behind her. He took another step, standing beside her.

"What are you looking at?"

She puffed out her cheeks, gesturing to the people below. They were currently on the second floor. She didn't speak, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward after that.

Zerra secretly wondered. The second male lead was already working hard to capture Nyra's heart, and you, the male lead, why so relaxed this time around? Look at his gesture. If people didn't know, they would have thought he was enjoying morning air instead of struggling through the apocalypse.

"Why keep Daniel around?" She blurted out.

Cassias turned his head and raised her eyebrows. "You don't like him?"

"Who likes someone as annoying as him?" She snorted.

"Want to get rid of him?" He asked again.

Zerra's heart jumped, and the flicker in his eyes scared her. It was like he was considering a hundred ways to get rid of Daniel.

"Uh, whatever." She pursed her lips and looked away. They stayed like that for a few hours. She didn't know when, but at some point, he was already dragging chairs for both of them. She also couldn't help herself from taking out a few snacks from her space.

By the time Nyra found them, the snacks were already emptied out. It was the first time Zerra saw him eating snacks like that. Her impression changed a bit. Cassias, in this reincarnation, wasn't that unapproachable, after all.

"Cassias," Nyra greeted the man.

Zerra raised her eyebrows. Oh, they were already on the first name basis now?

Cassias nodded at her. "Have you found some information?"

Her heart suddenly felt a bit guilty. Cassias should have been gone with Nyra to gather information instead of staying with her, right? She wasn't too worried about Laziel because she knew he would eventually be saved, but Cassias probably didn't know that, right…?

The two discussed for a bit, and Cassias helped by adding some information about Laziel's last position.

"He was supposed to take a bus from there." Nyra frowned.

"Then, start from the train station." Cassias suggested. Zerra sent him a surprised look. His suggestion was directly on point.

She frowned slightly at him, gradually sensing that Cassias this time around was becoming more and more strange. When she thought that he might have the memories of the second reincarnation when she became a zombie king, her heart trembled.

It couldn't be right? Well, it might have been just her overthinking it. She hurriedly discarded that thought.

"Are you all going out again?" Daniel appeared suddenly, disturbing the discussion between the two and Zerra's thoughts.

"Take me with you. I still need to find Buddy. He must have been somewhere out there, shivering and scared of the zombies."
