"It is coming! All of you, run away! We can't take it on!"
Nova heard the voice of a man approach him.
There shouldn't be anyone in this forest on the first day of the game...
He knew that because he had been to this forest tens of times on the first day after starting a new game. Still, there was someone coming, and he seemed to be in a hurry.
The one approaching was a middle-aged man. He had a distinctive mustache and chestnut hair. From his appearance, he seemed like a long sword user. He could be a knight.
There were four more behind, following him. Two boys and two girls around the same age as him, which was fifteen.
The leading man must have also seen Nova since he shot out to him, "Young man, run away. A minotaur is coming!"
A minotaur?
Minotaur was a 10 to 15-level monster. Unlike low-level monsters like Bvaf, higher-level monsters didn't have fixed levels. They, instead, had a range. But even those ranges weren't definite.
A monster could surpass its level and evolve, some even gaining intelligence in the process. Of course, minotaur wasn't one of these monsters.
Nova started thinking. He didn't know what he could do with five NPCs. But then, he shook his head.
They are not NPCs! They are living beings. If he could, he wanted to save them. Of course, he didn't want to endanger himself while helping them.
The middle-aged man was useless since he was a sword user. If he was running away, he was probably at a lower level than the minotaur. His sword wouldn't pierce the minotaur's skin.
But the other four... They seemed even lower level, as if they were here to be carried by the knight-like man.
One of the girls, though, was a mage since he had a staff. Nova called out to her before she could run past him:
"Are you a mage? What spells do you know?"
The girl looked at him. She was still going to run away, but she saw Nova not moving.
Is he an idiot? Does he think he can fight against a minotaur?
In her mind, she was also measuring Nova. If he were strong enough to kill a minotaur, he wouldn't be hanging around the outer layer of the forest.
Still, they were responsible for their situation. So, she answered: "I can use wind magic."
"Perfect, support me!"
"Are you an idiot?" She stopped in her tracks. "Do you think we can win against a minotaur?"
"Do you think you can run away from a minotaur?" Nova answered with another question. He didn't know how they escaped till they were here, but minotaurs were fast.
"What, then? You want to kill it?"
"No, we probably can't," Nova said. "But we are in a forest. Maybe we can stop it."
The girl thought for a bit and understood the situation. "Do you have a fire spell?"
"Yes. We don't have time, let's go!" Nova shouted and cast another fireball. But this time, the girl beside him also cast a spell. She didn't shout anything, but a strong gale left her hands and flared up his fireball.
The fireball got bigger and bigger before hitting a few trees at the same time and exploding with extra fire, causing the trees to catch fire.
Nova felt embarrassed that he had to shout, but it was inevitable for now.
I will learn speechless casting as soon as possible, he thought to himself.
