Chapter 3 - Tutorial

A crack appears in an open field.

As soon as it appears, it is gone, leaving behind Nike lying on the ground.

"What is going on?" She mutters to herself.

After having the adrenaline die down from watching her father go out and sacrifice himself and her almost dying, regret and guilt catches up to her.

She quickly curls up into a ball and starts to cry.

"Dad... I hope you have a good afterlife..."

Her tears start to flow even more as time goes on.

Stop crying like a bitch and get up

A box appears in her vision which displayed these words.

"Huh?"

Staying there crying isn't gonna do anything. Get up so I can finish this tutorial and get you gone.

In her surprised shock, she stiffens, not moving an inch.

all of a sudden, she feels a energy surround her which picks her up from the ground and forces her to stand up.

Seems like I know what I will be doing for this tutorial...

All of a sudden, the landscape around her changes.

She watches as the area she used to be in was changed into a heavily forested area.

When she looked around, her fears were right.

It was the same area she almost died in.

Alright, so let me explain. Due to some unexpected trauma, the tutorial will be mended a bit. First, an explanation of your ability. To begin this, no, I will not be with you when you leave here. I am specifically designed for the tutorial.

Now, the first part of you ability will be what is called a system.

A box appears in front of her with a lot of information on it.

Now that you have seen this, I will go through each section one by one since it seems like you don't come from any advanced type of society.

I shouldn't need to say much about the first section.

For the upgrades section, S means souls. For every being you kill, your souls counter counter will go up. For the tutorial, you will only be able to buy and keep the first two upgrades for sharpness to make the blade able to at least cut beings, and anything else you get with the souls you had obtained before getting the system. You also may gain more upgrades as you level up, but more on that later.

When you choose the upgrade for more swords, it multiplies the current sword amount by two. It is good to choose this as each summoned sword, including the one you hold, can be controlled by your mind. How well you can control it scales off your intelligence stat, which will be explained soon.

For sword types, each time you come into contact with a new type of bladed weapon, it is stored and able to be summoned. Once you are nearing the max level with this type of power, you should be able to rain millions of different swords down on your opponents at a time.

For status, there are normally more numbers displayed here. Due to my little care to put the other stats into numbers, I have put everything into these three increments.

The higher the numbers in strength makes it to where you can hit being harder than before and carry object much heavier than you. The normal for your world is 10 and with an abnormally high strength stat you could use a single punch to wipe out an entire castle.

For vitality, it basically means how much damage you take and how much of an overall resistance you have towards damage. This is good to upgrade due to the fact that it lets you battle for longer periods without getting tired due to the amount of pain you are in. The normal for your world is 15.

For intelligence, it helps improve your overall thought process. It helps you think even when you are in the middle of battle and it helps you to find your sword even though it's on your waist. The normal for your world is... 1... I see now why they are taking such extreme measures. Good for you though, you were born with 10.

Finally, leveling.

After killing beings, you will gain something called exp. When you gain this, your level will go up. This will increase your stats by 5 each level. Stat points are 5 extra points that you gain from leveling that you could put in any of the three you want.

"Why is there a question mark next to race?" she asks.

I wasn't the one who made this, Glitch did; so don't ask me questions since I wont know the answers to them.

When you want to open this, all you have to do is will it to open or say anything like activate or system in your head.

Try it now.

And the window closes.

She instantly thinks system and the window opens again.

Alright, now that we have that out of the way, if you want to choose an upgrade, you don't even need the window open. All you need to do is think "upgrade ___" and if you have enough souls, it will be upgraded.

Even though you have more than enough souls, the tutorial is forced to provide you with at least six souls to let you buy the first two sharpness upgrades.

To summon your sword for the first time, close your eyes and reach out your hand. After this, it will become like second nature. At first, the sword wont nearly be as sharp as your old one, but as you upgrade it, steel will look like paper in front of it.

She did as told and reached out her hand and closed her eyes.

To her surprise, she felt as if there was something there but also not.

But she felt like she could grab it, and she does so.

She opens her eyes and sees a sword in her hands.

As soon as she sees it, she could only marvel at it.

It is a purple, almost translucent longsword that has a slight glow attached to it.

When looking closer though, there was no bladed edge.

It was as if the blacksmith who made it hadn't even thought of making it sharp.

[Spawning three lizardmen and three goblins.]

And then her trauma instantly assaulted her in its full force when she saw everything that suddenly appeared.

Kill the first goblin and select the first sharpness upgrade to begin the fight.

Her hands started to tremble as she saw the very familiar lizardmen standing in front of her.

She didn't even notice the fact that they had no weapons.

That's how scared she was.

Kill the first goblin.

Her grip tightened on the sword as she knew she would have to get over this eventually.

The faster you kill these beings the faster you can leave.

She started to try and calm herself down and finally noticed that the lizardmen didn't have weapons like before.

Finally, she raised her weapon and struck down onto the goblin.

She steeled her resolve and got into a fighting stance and thought, 'upgrade sharpness.'

As soon as that happened, her sword started to shift and gained an actual edge.

Though it wasn't the sharpest, she knew she could win if she put her all into this fight.

After it changed, the lizardmen and unseen goblins unfroze and started to attack her.

The first lizardman charged at her again, but without a weapon, it was an easy kill.

The second and third lizardmen attacked at the same time which she parried the seconds attack and dodged the other.

Using the chance the parry gave her, she killed the second and had to quickly dodge the thirds attack.

The goblins using that chance ran at her and stabbed her in the back and ripped the blades out of her.

Both because of her will to live and the tutorials interference, she was able to kill the third lizardman and ignore the pain for a little while.

The goblins were too busy finding a place to hide and laughing about what they did to notice her rushing towards them.

One of them noticed, though too late, as it saw the other goblin suddenly have a purple sword pierced through its head.

Using the goblins shock, she took the blade out of the head of the dead goblin and quickly brought it down on the other, killing it.

Once she saw the final soul count tick up, she fell down and breathed of sigh of relief.

She saw that her hands were still trembling but at a much lesser amount.

Now that you have killed them, put your final upgrades into what you want, and you will leave. Don't worry, you were already healed as soon as the battle was over.

She then pulled up the system and looked at the upgrades section.

Upgrades:

More swords (10S)

Sharper swords 1/10 (5S)

Souls: 16

She first buys the sharper sword upgrade which brings her back to 11 souls.

She then asks, "If I were to try and dual wield these swords, would I have to learn how to do it or would it flow naturally?"

Both. It would flow, but you would also be confused by said flow. You are used to one sword so your bodies entire balance would be off when using it. It would be better to use it mentally since you have enough in your intelligence stat to control one extra sword.

She thinks for a second and then buys an extra sword, bringing her to a grand total of 1 soul.

She then inspects her own sword and slashes it around to find that it has around the same sharpness as a well used and not taken care of normal sword now.

While testing it out, she also summons the second sword the same way she did the first and when she sees it, she lets go of it.

As she expected, it just floats there.

Then, she wants it to turn upwards and it does so.

She then starts to make it fly around her and then she orders it to impale itself into a tree and it instantly does so.

She pulls up her system again, this time for her status.

(A/N): Honestly didn't even mean to make them both 50. It just worked out like that.

"Can you summon some more monsters for me?" She asks.

Sure. Just know you wont gain any souls or exp from the beings.

"That's fine." she says.

[Spawning three lizardmen and six goblins.]

Kill the first goblin to begin the battle.

She asses the battlefield and notices the goblins hiding while huddled together.

"Tutorial, can I make it to where the swords act on their own?"

She gets no response.

"Well, no reason not to try."

She has a nervous smile on her as she also saw that the lizardmen had their weapons now.

'It seems like its actually simulating the battle this time.'

She chuckles nervously at this thought but gets into a battle stance.

"Better now than never I guess..."

She then easily slices through the first goblin and gets ready to fight the lizardmen, sending her second sword to deal with the goblins, which she is thankful that her thought works.

Like how it happened before, the first one charged at her and locked them into a clash of swords. This time though, she is stronger and is able to take the blow and slide it along her sword, opening its side to her.

She doesn't swing though. She knew that the only reason she was able to kill the lizardmen last time was due to the tutorials interference and if she were to go to the weakest point she could reach, she wouldn't be able to dodge the other lizardmen's attacks.

Due to that, she quickly blocks a dagger from the second lizardman and dodges a swing from the third.

She could audibly hear the squeals of the goblins and the slicing of flesh behind her now.

The goblins, with how negligibly smart they are, tried to kill the floating sword with small daggers that were obviously rusted.

She quickly blocked another strike from the sword of the first one but failed to fully dodge the dagger but was able to block the other sword by angling her sword in a weird way.

She quickly ordered the sword to assist her once it was done with the goblins.

Remembering the words of the tutorial, she quickly made space between the lizardmen while ignoring the pain but left her sword there floating and ordered it to hold them back.

She used the quick second to eye over to the area the goblins were at and saw a mass of bodies and the sword gone.

She then looked to the side of her and saw it floating next to her with the goblins blood dripping off it.

She then ordered this one to assist the other sword, but once the order was given, she felt a pressure she hadn't felt before.

After the order, it could be seen that her breathing became heavy and when she took a step, it was as if her body wanted her to collapse.

With the swords, due to the unexpected arrival of the second, it was able to get a clean cut on the second lizardman due to not being able to block with its dagger and made it drop its weapon from the pain.

Using that moment, the second sword hastily re angled itself and dug into its armpit due to its lack of armor in that area and almost entirely sheathed itself inside the body with how forceful it was.

It just as quickly pulled itself out and pointed towards the third lizardman and charged at it.

The two lizardmen stiffened for a second at the unexpected loss of one of them which gave the first sword enough leeway to push the first one back, make itself point directly at the lizardman and dash straight into it.

Even with the quick burst of speed, it wasn't able to pierce the scales but it was able to knock the lizardman down.

The moment the lizardman fell, it flew away a bit and dashed back, gaining enough speed to piece the neck and started wiggling itself at high speeds to hit every part of its inner neck.

As that was happening, after the second sword charged, also using the lizardman's surprise and having a much faster speed, it was able to hit one of the third lizardman's eyes and pierce through it, and then it forced itself out of its eye and dashed right into the other one, blinding the creature completely.

After ensuring their deaths, the swords flew back to Nike, hovering over her back as if it held a sheath, waiting for the next order.

Only to soon disappear as she had fainted from the amount of stamina that had been absorbed due to having such advanced commands on more swords than she could handle.
