(There were 4 things Haru's loved more than his psychic powers:
1. Coffee
2: Sweets
3: Ghosts and Ghost storys
4: But the thing he loved most was his outworen cape... well atleasted he thinks it's a cape... it's not)
"Absolutely not," Momo said. "We are not doing a ghost hunt in the girls' bathroom."
"It's not a ghost hunt," Haru corrected. "It's a spiritual investigation. And the ghost is gender-neutral."
"There is no ghost."
"There is definitely a ghost," Rina said seriously. "I heard the toilet flushed on its own yesterday."
"That's automatic plumbing," Takumi muttered.
"No," Haru said. "It was a cry for help from beyond."
"The only ghost here is your GPA."
(They stood outside the third-floor bathroom — the one that had been "temporarily closed for maintenance" for nearly a year.)
(Legend said no one fixed it because the plumber ran away screaming.)
(More likely: budget cuts.)
(But that didn't stop Haru from holding up a dowsing rod — actually a selfie stick — and whispering,)
"The aura is unstable."
"It's a girls' bathroom," Momo said. "The aura's always unstable in there."
(They entered.)
(Dim lights. A cracked mirror. One suspiciously clean stall door shut tight.)
(Takumi stepped back.)
"I don't like this."
"You literally don't believe in any of it," Momo said.
"Yeah, but I don't want to be the one who gets haunted out of irony."
(Haru moved to the stall.)
"Don't," Momo warned.
"I must."
"Please don't."
(He opened the door.)
(Inside sat a cat.)
(A fat, angry cat, staring directly into Haru's soul.)
(It meowed once. Loudly. Offended.)
(Then it leapt up, knocked over the soap dispenser, and fled out the door like a furry demon.)
(Silence.)
"…That explains the ghost noises," Momo said.
"That explains nothing," Haru replied, stunned.
"I think we just haunted it."
(Takumi nodded.)
"We should probably leave before someone sees us."
