Synopsis
[Mature content] Ava turned away from him, clutching her bag tight. "What... do you want from me?" She whispered. “I already told you.” Eitan stated matter-of-factly. “I want a deal… be my wife.” Wife?! He wanted her to be his wife?! “That doesn’t make any sense!” Ava burst out, utterly dumbfounded. “You want me to pretend to be your wife? A murderer like me?! I shot that gun that night, I almost killed your friend and yet you want to make a deal with me?! Do you think I'm a fool?!” **** Ava's already miserable life takes a turn for the worst when her attempt at murder of a popular CEO's precious daughter is found out by none other than Eitan Berger, the powerful owner of the largest corporation in all of New York city. Eitan offers her a deal that is so suspicious, she thinks twice about taking it. But when memories and a man from her hellish past haunts her, things take a drastic turn and she is forced to accept his absurd offer. But being the young wife of the most influential man in New York city is easier said than done. With a devil from her former hell watching her every move and the utter evil of Eitan's enemies, they might just have to play a more intimate role... **** "Have a look at this and sign at the bottom." Eitan stated, handing her the document. Ava took one glance at it and her vision blurred. "Thank you..." She whispered, penning down her signature after wiping her eyes. Eitan tilted her chin up gently to meet his emerald gaze. "You know who you belong to now." He murmured softly. "Do well to please me, or I will discard you.”

Chapter 1 - Assassination

"What's taking you so long?! Isn't she in range yet?" A lady with a mask over her nose asked urgently, her eyes darting around. "Someone could come here at any moment–"

She looked anxiously out of the glassless window of a building still in construction, chewing on her bottom lip. The man she had yelled at was kneeling with one knee to the cold, hard ground, with a rifle that was propped up on the window still in his hands.

"I'm trying my best!." The man, who was called Walter shot back. He also wore a mask over his nose and his grey eyes remained on the weapon. "Don't you know how difficult it is to aim at a moving target?"

"Everyone here, including Ava, knows that, Walter." A female voice sounded from behind both of them. "You're just bad at everything except computers."

The lady named Ava sharply turned her head full of light blonde hair backwards, her sapphire eyes practically shinning. "Kiera, you're back!" She exclaimed. "Were there any problems?"

Kiera, who was also masked, shook her head, her short hair waving slightly. "None that I could find. Everything is moving smoothly so far…" Her dark eyes moved towards Walter. "The only thing left is the target."

"I'm. trying. my. best." Walter repeated through clenched teeth.

"Your best isn't going to cut it, Walter." Ava interrupted. "We have to get her before she disappears from sight. You always insist on doing the jobs you're bad at... let me just do it."

Walter looked up at her doubtfully. "But you've never even used a rifle before!"

Ava folded her arms. "But I know how to use a gun."

"They're not the same!"

"They look the same to me."

"Oh for fucks sake, stop this stupid argument!" Kiera chimed in an irritated tone. "Walter, give her the gun."

"Yes!" Ava cheered.

"No!" Walter insisted. "She wouldn't know how to use it!"

"You aren't any good at using it now, are you?" Kyla asked, pointing at him accusingly. "You've only tried it once, that doesn't guarantee–"

"But Ava hasn't tried it at all!"

A vein visibly popped at Kyla's temple as her lips twitched. He had obviously gotten on her nerves. "Why do you always have to be so stubborn? Give Ava the rifle."

Walter's face scrunched in an ugly manner and he almost looked like he was going to argue but he eventually gave in.

"Tsk." He clicked his tongue, roughly shoving the gun at Ava and walking away.

"Hey!" Ava winced as she took hold of it and shot a glare at Walter. "You don't have to be so rude…"

"Hmph." She scoffed silently and knelt with one knee on the cold floor, facing the outside through the glassless window.

Their target was at a far distance, more than a thousand feet away from them. Although the party their target was currently attending was a masquerade event, they were able to tell her apart by her dress and hair.

Her name was Evie Alrosa, the daughter of a popular CEO in New York city... and they needed her dead.

"How is it?" Kiera asked.

"Mhmm…" Ava responded. "She's moving and talking with a bunch of people but I'm following her just fine."

Kyla grunted. "You think you'll be able to get a headshot?"

Ava laughed nervously. "No way. This thing's harder than it looks." She winced. "And heavier too."

Kyla sighed. "Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about a rifle…" Her eyes moved pointedly to where Walter was standing with his arms crossed. "At least you can aim." She said, making him scoff.

Ava let out a small burst of laughter. Using the eyepiece of the rifle, her aim followed the woman named Evie, as she stopped briefly to greet someone.

'She's pretty… even through the mask…' Ava thought remorsefully, as she locked on. 'It's a shame…'

Just as she was about to pull the trigger, a really fancy car drove into the venue at full speed, making people jump out of the way and taking everyone's attention.

Evie moved.

"Damn it!" Ava cursed softly. "Who is that guy?!"

"What's wrong?" Kiera asked urgently.

Ava sighed. "A super fancy car just showed up and it messed up my targeting."

Kiera placed a hand on her chest and laughed in relief. "If that's what happened, then Evie won't be leaving anytime soon… still, we need to hurry up."

"Right..." Ava answered. She watched as the owner of the car made his way out. At the sight of him, she froze.

"Who…" She whispered. "Who is that?"

Kiera looked confused. "Who's who?"

"The man who just stepped out from the car." Ava added.

Kyla's lips twitched. "I can't see him, Cookie." She shook her head. "But if you describe him, I might be able to tell."

Ava nodded. "He's really tall and a bit pale, he's got really dark hair… his eyes are… Well, I can't tell their color from this far away."

"Very dark hair… pale… there was no information about him being here…" Kyla mused. "Did he come out of a Mclaren?"

Ava furrowed her eyebrows. "Mclaren? What's that?"

Kiera rolled her eyes. "It's a really fancy race car– ah, nevermind. That must be Eitan Berger then."

Ava tilted her head slightly. "Berger? I think I've heard that name before…"

Just then, a walkie talkie hanging on Kyla's waist crackled to life.

"Kiera, tell Walter to shoot now!" They could immediately tell it was their leader's voice and he sounded desperate. "Berger isn't here alone!"

"Vince? What…" Kiera looked lost for a few seconds before she asked, "What's the situation?"

"It's like Berger somehow got wind of the assassination plan and brought the police force here." Vince explained. "His entrance is a distraction, the rest are roaming."

Kiera was shocked. "But how did he…?"

"Fuck! I don't know either!" Vince yelled. "Now tell Walter to pull the trigger!"

Kiera's eyes move towards Ava. "You heard him!"

Ava flinched, not even having the time to nod, she clumsily locked onto her target, her trembling index finger hovering over the trigger when she noticed some men in uniform heading towards them from the lense.

"I think… I think the police already know exactly where we are." Ava voiced shakily, her heart beating wildly in her chest.

Kiera's brows furrowed and she clenched her fist. "It doesn't matter, shoot!"

Ava's palms had already started to grow cold and sweat from nervousness.

If they were caught here, this would basically be the end.

"What…" She said in a voice that was barely audible. "If… if I shoot now, she wouldn't–"

"Tsk!" Kyla clicked her tongue in irritation. "Just shoot the damn girl or we're all going to jail!" She screamed, sharply reaching for the rifle in Ava's hands and forcefully pulling the trigger.

Bang!!
