š Chapter 49
The night was unnaturally silentāan ominous stillness settled over the outer district of Sinjai. The stars above shimmered red, as if the sky itself was bleeding.
Aeren shot up in bed, gasping. His eyes were wide, his heart pounding. Sweat drenched his back. But it wasn't a nightmare.
It was a memory.
"Chrono Fortress⦠3rd Gate sealed⦠The Umbra Rift⦠Hellen⦠Raitheā¦"
He didn't know these words.
He'd never spoken them before.
But now⦠they felt like his own.
Across the room, a faint golden glyph shimmered briefly above his head. He didn't see itābut the ancient seal did. And it trembled.
ā³ Meanwhile, Far Across the Regionā¦
In a sealed chamber beneath the Academy Council Hall, a meeting was underway. The oldest Seeker of the continent, Council Elder Vahris, stared at a single page on the glowing table. A page that hadn't existed an hour ago. The paper was black, the ink red like drying blood.
"Chrono Sovereign ā Status: LockedVessel Identified: Aeren ValcrestThreat Level: Unknown. Ascending.Secondary Title: LoopbearerBlood Memory: Waking."
Gasps. Silence. Then a single whisper:
"He's rememberingā¦"
š„ At Sinjai Academy Training Grounds
Anshi stood alone in the obsidian courtyard. Her blades rested against her shoulder, but her eyes⦠they were haunted.
The Seeker Eater had arrived.
It didn't roar. It didn't charge.
It simply existedāa pale humanoid with no mouth, only rows of eyes covering its chest. Every eye locked onto her soul. It was tracking her power. Hunting it.
"Target confirmed: Umbra Scepter RequestSeeker: Anshi AltherraClass: Bronze-Abyss BloodlineStatus: Terminate."
She dashed forward, blades igniting in crimson.
š„ Somewhere ElseāAnd Nowhere
Aeren was still frozen. Time had stopped around him. Literally.
He stood in a dream-realm, surrounded by glass-like skies. A hooded figure stood on a mountain cliff, and every monster beneath himāfrom Level 1 to 10āwas bowing.
"That's me⦠isn't it?""No," a voice whispered from nowhere, "That's who you were. Before the Loop reset."
Suddenly, visions rushed into himācities crumbling, time bending backward, Anshi dying over and over, monsters warping, a mark appearing over his back, and a forbidden word:
"Chrono Sovereign"
The title blinked above his unconscious body.[Chrono Sovereign ā Status: Locked][Phase Two Awakening ā Initiated]
And thenā
āļø Reality Returns
Aeren's body glowed.
His eyes turned white, energy crackled around him, and without even touching the Seeker Eater that was about to kill Anshi, he shattered one of its arms with a mere blink of thought.
The ground beneath him froze in timeāleaves suspended in air, wind halted mid-blow. Even the pain in Anshi's bleeding wounds⦠paused.
Aeren spoke only one word:"Leave."
The Seeker Eater tried to retreatābut space locked.Time refused.Reality twisted.
And in a blast of unseen force, the entity vanished.
š Elsewhere, In the Umbra Scepter's Lair
A cracked mirror shattered as a shadowed figure stood.
"So⦠the Chrono Sovereign really exists again.""The boy isn't ready.""Then we'll make him awaken⦠by force."
