Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Edan

As my eyes finally began to adjust to the morning suns I could make out my surroundings, I was in a dense forest the still had a soft fog in the air that had not been burned of by the rising heat of day.

The system screen sprang up in my field of view a flashing text on it. The text was simple and said, 'welcome to Edan, today starts your new life in this world!'

I waved my hand to dismiss the screen just to have another screen appear saying, 'introduction to your user interface. '

I tapped the screen and it walked me through the various tabs. The first tab being status screen. On this screen was all my stats, my name, exp, HP, mp, stamina, and effects which was currently blank.

The second tab was my inventory screen which looked like rows of boxes numbering 20. The first 5 boxes had items in them. Tapping on each item I could see what they were.

Smithing hammer (common) bound.

A simple hammer used in forging. Upgradable.

Simple armour (common) (scale male) bound.

A crude scale armour used by the militia.

Upgradable.

Simple wooden shield (common) bound.

A crude wooden shield used by the militia.

Simple half plate greaves (common) bound.

A crude pair of half plate greaves used by low born nobles.

A basic axe used for cutting trees and a basic weapon for the militia.

Upgradable.

After selecting the equip option on the items minus to smithing hammer, I processed to the next tab which was skills screen.

Skills: master crafter (legendary) (+)

There was nothing in this list except this one. After seeing my disappointing skills lift I went to the next tab which was currency and wares.

Currency and Wares: 20 copper pieces.

A text prompt appeared after I opened the tab and explained the currency for me.

100 copper = 1 silver

100 silver = 1 gold

100 gold = 1 platinum

I read the information before dismissing the prompt and going to the last tab labeled ingredients.

Ingredients:

5 iron lumps (common)

A lump of iron ore, can be smelted down to make 2 iron bars, used in forging.

5 tin lumps (common)

A lump of tin ore, can be combined with copper lump and smelted down to make 4 bronze bars, used in forging.

5 copper lumps (common)

A lump of copper ore, can be combined with tin lump and smelted down to make 4 bronze bars, used in forging.

10 coal lumps (common)

A lump of coal used to heat a forge for smelting.

I was surprised to find that I had some ingredients but no way to get more at the moment. I closed the screen and looked around. Taking the axe and shield out and inspecting the they truly were vary crude, the shield seemed to be few plank shabbily nailed together with bronze nails, and the axe was a bronze axe head forced into a rough stripped stick. I then looked down at the scale armour and half plate greaves and could only chuckle to myself.

The scale was rusted bits of flattened iron interlinked by shotty iron rings, while the half plate greaves where basically hammered iron plates haphazardly riveted to a pair of thick leather pants, but only on the front. My bare feet wiggle on the ground as I notice my short bulky build.

I shrug my shoulders and step off and head in a random direction, my axe and shield at the ready.

After only a couple steps my system screen reappears with a new text notification.

New quest: head to town!

Objective: make your way to town to the south east.

Rewards: 5 exp, 5 copper, a simple pickaxe (common)

Do you except yes/no

I instantly click yes and a map pops up in the top right of my field of view with a compus.

Orienting myself to the south east I slowly make my way in the designated direction, keeping my axe and shield at the ready.

I keep glancing around as I walk in the direction taking in all the strange plants and insects not seeing any animals anywhere in my vacenity. Before long I have lowered my guard and have started to relax enjoying the stroll through the woods. 'crack' a branch being broken snaps me into an alert state as I look around to fine a 3 foot tall ball of blue goo rolling twords me with another 2 slightly behind and of to each side.

"Is that a slime?" I ask myself. My eyes widen as in disbelief as I lift the shield and axe to the ready. A thin box surrounds the approaching ball of goo and the stats of the thing appears.
