Chapter Ten
"HOW LONG HAVE you been a priestess?" the prince asked, his eyes settled on the beautiful Lilyan.
Lilyan carefully looked at him back and replied, "It's been six months. Well, naturally I was still in training so I've been recently formally accepted."
"You have a very sweet blood." The prince muttered under his breath, his eyes rings flickering to a red color but immediately changed back to it's blue color.
"Huh?" Lilyan didn't really get what the prince said as it was in a low tone that Lilyan didn't get.
He laughed lazily pretending it wasn't anything serious, "Nothing, come here." He beckoned her closer with a lazy gesture, his eyes sparkling with amusement. Lilyan's heart skipped a beat as she hesitated, unsure what to do. But the prince's warm smile put her at ease so she stepped closer.
She approached and the prince reached out and gently brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. His fingers grazed her skin, sending shivers down her spine.
"You're very beautiful, Priestess," he whispered.
Lilyan quickly took a step back feeling very embarrassed at that simple gesture, "Your Highness, you should refrain from saying and doing inappropriate gestures. I'm a priestess, such is not allowed."
Prince Edmund smiled, a light laugh escaping past his lips as he leaned back. "I had no idea, please accept my apologies. I promise not to repeat that."
Lilyan shook her head, "It's no problem Your Highness, as long as we don't repeat that."
Prince Edmund nodded, "You said something about the royal council. Recently the Justice of Minister has been very focused on the issue about blood slaves. He's been trying to wipe the blood slaves out."
"Aside from that, he must be planning something else that could put the kingdom in danger." Lilyan said, "I don't know what is it though. I'm merely just a pristess."
"I'll send someone to gather information." the crown prince said. "I'm sure it's related to the blood slaves."
"Then I'll leave it to you, Your Highness." Lilyan bowed.
"You do not ask questions, aint you curious as why I've been so pretentious?" An amused smile sparked across his face. He was an absolute flirt.
"His Highness might have his own reasons, how can I, a mere servant question the crown prince just because of my own curiosity?" Lilyan looked at him.
Prince Edmund carefully looked at her then laughed, "You are so amusing. So much formalities! Priestess." His laughter turned serious as he added m "The palace is not a very nice place. I was unfortunate enough to be born in this place so I have no choice but to live here and somehow I have all kind of villains around me."
"Don't be too modest Your Highness, The Gods never make such a mistake. There must be a reason why you were especially born in the royal family." Lilyan smiled.
"Well…" he sighed.
"It's very late Your Highness." Lilyan confirmed.
Suddenly, the crown prince leaned back and grinned mischievously. "I think I've tired myself out, Priestess. You've healed me, indeed."
Lilyan laughed, feeling relieved yet confused. "I'm glad to have been of service, Your Highness."
The prince chuckled and closed his eyes, looking every bit the lazy patient once more. "You may take your leave, I'll see you tomorrow."
Lilyan breathed out, she bowed respectfully before she retreated and made her way back to her chambers. Once she was in her chambers, she sighed and looked around. It's going to be a very exhausting palace life. She took a bath, changed her dress then she prayed.
The night wasn't long and soon, the sun was rose and the maidservants were running up and down the corridor.
Lilyan stepped out of her bed chambers in silk white dress. Her eyes immediately landed on the prince.
He wore a silk shirt with billowy sleeves in a crimson red. His breeches were made of fine fabric, made in a complementary design. He had a pair of soft leather boots on his feet. Around his neck sat a golden chain with a gleaming pendant, symbolizing his royal status. A cape was draped over his shoulders, fastened with clasp, adding a regal touch to his attire that made him look powerful.
His outfit was designed with a fine lace showcasing his wealth and status as a prince.
He looked, quite good.
"Priestess." He smiled as soon as he saw the priestess.
Lilyan bowed, "Your Highness." then she looked back up.
"Would you mind to accompany me out of the palace?" he asked playfully yet somehow he appeared serious.
Lilyan looked around, catching the sight of the Queen who stood near the other side of the corridor.
The Queen was wearing a beautiful orange gown and her eyes were watching their interaction like a hawk. Lilyan shifted her eyes towards the prince and said, "I don't think that would be wise, Your Highness."
"It's just a meeting outside, it can't be something bad can it? Besides, you came to the palace under my summon didn't you?. I'm sure that'll be alright and the Queen wouldn't mind" The prince raised his eyebrow.
Lilyan hesitated a bit before she bowed low, "As it pleases the crown prince."
Prince Edmund chuckled making a hand gesture, "Don't! Now it sounds like I'm kidnapping you. I'm merely asking you to accompany me."
One of the prince's imperial guard came running, "Your Highness, the carriage is ready."
"Where's Leon?" The crown prince asked.
The imperial guard replied with a bow, "He's training the others. Should I call for him?"
"Don't, he must be busy." He sighed. "Let's go." He said to Lilyan and walked down the corridor. Lilyan had no choice but to follow behind him as they made their way to a carriage which was parked near the entrance.
"Don't sit too close." The crown prince muttered.
Lilyan stopped moving for a second then she sat down.
Once they were settled inside, the carriage moved.
Lilyan sighed, throwing a glance towards the prince.
"Do you have something to say priestess?" The crown prince looked at Lilyan.
"Why can't I sit close? I took a bath this morning."
She said very clear, not a bit of embarrassment on her face.
His Highness watched as she frown and he laughed. A very uncontrolled laughter as he looked at her, "I didn't mean it like that. If you want to know I'll tell you though, you have a very sweet blood. I don't think I'll be able to restrict myself from biting you."
Lilyan's eyes widened in shock, her face pale. "You...do you bite people?"
Edmund laughed, shaking his head."I'm not human, I don't go around biting people but I drink blood."
"S—so you're a vampire?" she stuttered.
