Chapter 37: Evil Scheme.
Maxson went home after he had finished his work at his office. His brother had given him a heavy task since all these days, he was too busy that he hasn't been able to visit Joan or arrange the date they were suppose to embark on.
He thought of visiting home_ Silver mansion, to see his mother and talk to her about Joan.
As he walked into the mansion, he saw Aria, her eyes glued on her phone, she was smiling and laughing at the same time.
Without no warning, he grabbed her phone since she wasn't even aware that he was beside her.
"Yahhhh, who the hell is that?" She screamed turning to look at the maniac. Maxson popped out his tongue and teased her. She began to chase after him as he runs around in the huge living room.
"Mum, Maxson is so rebellious, he needs to be warned." She shouted as she runs after him.
"Give me my phone or else I'll report Joan to mummy." Aria stopped running and said, she began to laugh at him since she had seen something to threaten him with.
"Alright, I'm tired also, you can have your phone." He surrendered to her.
Aria laughed as she steadied her breathing, she took her phone from him and sat down. "Why didn't you tell me about your visit today? It really unlike you". She sat upright with a smile.
"Why should I report to you about my whereabouts and plans? Huh?". He looked at her playfully.
"You should always report to me, I am your second mother if you don't know". Charlotte approached the siblings as she came in with a flat dish of fruit salad.
"Who is that person disturbing my daughter's peace?" She asked as she dropped the dish.
Aria quickly pointed at her brother. "He is the one, the troublesome brother." She smiled as she said.
"Aria, get me the fruit knife from the kitchen." Charlotte commanded her daughter.
Maxson stood up from he was and sat down beside her. "Mum, I felt you had over-pampered your daughter too much."
Charlotte shook her head and faces him. "Won't you leave your sister alone and bring a wife home. Should we keep preaching to you all the time?" She complained with a solemn expression.
"Mum, why do you like changing topics all the time?" He stood up and left for the kitchen.
Aria was busy looking for the fruit knife as she searched the cupboard and cabinet. "Why are you acting like a rat in the house?" He laughed as he spoke.
"Should I report Joan to mummy?" She asked him as she rolled her eyes at him.
"Hm, it fine". Maxson gave her the fruit knife she had been looking for, he had seen it laying under the tray on the cooker.
She received the knife from him. "So how's she doing"?
"Nothing much. It quite a long time we see each other, why asking?" Maxson stood near the kitchen cabinet, watching his little sister's dramatic nature.
Aria waited, enjoying the conversation, she had forgotten her mother was waiting for her in the living room. "So how's she? Can't you call her or pay her a visit?" She asked again.
"It fine, I planned to do that today". He replied immensed in the thought of Joan. He still didn't know how to approach and confess his love to her.
"Aria! Is the fruit knife missing?" Charlotte shouted from the living room, she knew the siblings are a fan of themselves, except Scott who had been a little silent since childhood.
"Hmmm, Mum had sent you here since and you've been here speaking gibberish." Maxson mocked her laughing.
Aria rolled her eyes and left. "So sorry mum, it was that spoilt son of yours who delayed me." She gave Charlotte the fruit knife and went to her room.
Maxson came out from the kitchen, he sat down on the sofa feeling heavily worried. He didn't know why he was feeling weird, his heart continued to race faster. "What about her? When are you bringing her home?" Maxson was taken by surprise, she never expected his mum to know about Joan.
"Who are you talking about?" He feigned innocent. "That girl you and your sister were talking about, you think I don't know about it?" She rolled her eyes at him, putting one of the fruit into her mouth.
Maxson cleared his throat before responding. "Soon Mum, you don't have to bother about that." He told her as he stood up.
"If you don't know ways to tell her, come learn from me or your sis." Charlotte mocked her son.
Maxson stood up angrily and left the mansion. "Heyyyy, don't you want to taste this palatable fruits?" She laughed as Aria joined her in the act. Charlotte wasn't aware when she came down.
The mother and daughter duo laughed so hard that their eyes were wet.
..........
"Come to my office now!" Scott ordered Joel on the phone.
He rushed into his boss' office without knocking. "Do you lack etiquette that much?" Scott stopped his pen from moving on the papers on his desk.
"Boss, I am so sorry" Joel bowed down as he apologized. "I was in a rush because you had asked me to come immediately." He explained calmly.
He knew his boss was one annoying human, but does he has another boss? No!
A curvy smile appeared on Scott's face as it quickly dissipate. "Make a reservation at a top notch restaurant for a perfect date."
"Yes sir." Joel said and was about leaving. "I am not done." His voice sounded like one roaring, the breeze blew his hair as he rested his back on his chair.
"A place that fits young couples in love. Well, I trust you won't disappoint". He sat up and continued his work.
"Is that all sir?" Joel looked at his boss who wasn't responding to him. "Boss, can I? Can I leave?"
Still, there was no response. When Joel saw his boss didn't even lift his head up, he knew he was reluctant to answer. No one told him when he left the office.
So annoying and difficult! He said in his mind as he walked away.
It was in the dark night, the rain happened to fell on the hard surface of the world of humans. Everyone wasn't expecting the rain to ambush them in different ways.
Some were with their umbrellas, some waited somewhere they could stay and hid, while some continued their destination, running inside the rain.
Joan was in a suburbs, tied with a thick black rope. The ropes were really strong and firm on her hand. She had tried to unfasten it several times, but luck gave her futility.
She looked around where she was, there was gasoline kegs, blood and different short ropes on the ground. She wondered if Royce's hidden occupation was an assassin.
While thinking about him, a brown cowboy shoe appeared, the footsteps sounded abnormal. It was as if the person was dragging his feet on the ground.
"Who! Who are you?" Joan shouted, her voice had seized, making it had for her to hear herself.
"Hahahaha, who else would it be? It is I, Royce?" He said without empathy.
"Why are you doing this? If Maxson gets you, won't you regret?". She asked, trying to trick him.
"I don't care about him. Wait! Why do you have to mention him even while in danger? Oh, you want to tell me you don't care about your grandpa." Royce laughed again.
Joan flinched as she heard him mentioned her grandfather. She had purposely hid him in a far place, away from humans like him.
"What are you trying to do? Don't involve my grandfather in this." She said with all her might.
Screech..." A sharp iron tool went scratching the iron chair at Joan's front. Royce pointed the sharp tool at Joan's eyes. "If you would cooperate to work for me, I'll let you grandfather be, but if you prove stubborn, I can't guarantee your grandfather's life then." He said as he grinned wickedly.
"Where do you put him? Where do you put him?" She screamed as tears rolled down her face. "Put?" Royce laughed hystericallly.
"I didn't touch him yet, I just need your promise and agreement before I would, but I haven't hear anything from you. Does that mean you are giving me a go-ahead already?" He smiled wickedly, he then placed the sharp tool on her neck.
The sharp object pierced into Joan's skin a little, she felt a tingling sensation but she couldn't mind it because her head were only filled with her grandpa.
She steadied her breathing before she replied him. "I comply, I'll do anything you want." She said shakily.
"Nice." The maniac laughed again. "What did you want me to do." Joan asked bodly.
"Tame Maxson!" His voice echoed with deep hatred.
"Whaa? What?" Joan couldn't talk well, she was shocked that Royce would actually use her to deal with the one who always loves and cherishes her.
She wanted to talk but she remembered her grandpa's life was on stake. She closed her eyes and allow those tears she had been holding to flow freely.
.........
Next morning...
Cylene left her home to visit her daughter in Marcus' house. She had told Royce who was at home, that she needed to oversee how her daughter was doing at her pregnancy stage.
"Mum, why are you here?" Presch had sighted her mother who was approaching from the entrance.
"What is the meaning of that? Can't I visit my own daughter in her husband's house?" She hissed and sat down on the sofa.
Cylene looked away from Presch, she was so annoyed that her daughter could question her in such a way. "Alright Mum, I am sorry. You can come visit me anytime you like." She consoled her mother.
Cylene rolled her eyes before facing her. "Hmmm, it fine".
"Is your mother-in-law at home?" She looked around the house. "No Mum, she just went out to the market not quite long." Presch told her.
"Hum! I can see how she is really taking good care of you because of this pregnancy, fake woman." Cylene hissed smoothly.
Presch laughed. "Mum!"
"So why did you come to visit me today?" She added.
"Before that, how's your body and the baby? Hope everything is fine." She questioned.
"We are both okay, do you have something for me?" Presch tried taking her mother's bag.
"Hold on, you have to be careful. I brought this to deal with that whore's fake beauty." Cylene brought out a small bottled with a flat cap from her bag.
"This is?" Presch asked in amazement.
"Acid darling. We just need to deceive her, you meet with her, apologize for everything and ___." Presch didn't even allow her mother to complete her statements, she immediately cut in.
"Mum why? Why would I beg her?" Her two eye balls widened as she questioned her mother.
"Be calm Presch. You need to beg her for her to believe you, you don't meant everything you would be begging her for. All you need is to let her trust you, then boom_ you pour this acid on her face. I want to see how those men she is always after would continue to like her." Cylene said in hatred, her expression couldn't conceal how much she wants to destroy Flora.
"Alright then, I can do that. Thanks so much Mum." She stood up and hugged her mother.
