Chapter 27 - Chapter 7: The Spatial Gem and the Rolling Golem

The pile of gems sparkled under the glowing crystal lights on the cave ceiling. They looked like they were calling out to anyone passing by. But the one eyeing them now wasn't a fighter, a thief, or a hero...

It was a rotten egg in disguise as a rolling stone golem.

Yes, me—the legendary egg—was peeking out from behind a rocky bump, still in full disguise mode: rolling earth golem form.

Not because I couldn't stand.

Not because I was too lazy to learn.

But simply... because that's my way of life. Golem or not, I'm still an egg. Rolling is my breath and destiny!

"Dad, why don't you just walk?" whispered Belang from beneath his rock-camouflage blanket.

"This is more efficient, son," I replied while elegantly rolling forward. "Rolling is strategy. Golems walk too slow anyway."

We slowly crept toward the source of the glow—a mound of gems, coins, and crystals in all colors. Looked like leftovers from monsters or adventurers who'd visited this place... and never left.

I froze. A thought crossed my mind:

> *"If only I had one of those storage rings, like the isekai characters I used to read about… I wouldn't have to stash food behind rocks… or roll my kids around everywhere…"*

And then—*pling!*

> [Broken System Speaking…]

> "Spatial-type gem detected. If absorbed, you can unlock an internal storage space. Basic version. No password. Take it now?"

My eyes—or rather, the tiny cracks on my eggshell—sparkled.

Without hesitation, I rolled over to the odd-looking gem. It shimmered like it was swallowing light itself. Shaped like a frozen drop of water in midair. Beautiful, yet uncanny.

With a gentle touch from the tip of my body (don't ask which part), I absorbed it.

> [Spatial Gem Absorbed.]

> [New Skill Acquired: Internal Storage Lv.1]

> Capacity: 1 cubic meter.

> Status: Stink detected. Perishables may degrade faster. Use with caution.

Well… fair enough. I *am* rotten. Even my dimension stinks.

"Alright kids! From now on, we can store food, rocks, and... well, Abu, you can nap in here if you want."

Abu shuddered and took a step back.

The others stared at me, still rolling... even though I could now carry stuff inside.

"Dad… if you already have storage space, why are you still… y'know," Cimut asked quietly.

I paused. Took a deep, dramatic breath.

And answered:

> "Because even in this world... an egg has the right to choose its lifestyle."
