Chapter 51 - Chapter 51 – Arata’s Perspective

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across Training Ground 13. Team 1 stood in a loose circle, breathing lightly from the day's drills. Their instructor, Arata, gave them a final once-over, his sharp gaze unreadable as always.

"Not bad," he said, voice calm but firm. "You're showing progress. But remember — consistency is just as important as growth."

He gave a slight nod.

"Starting tomorrow, we begin actual missions."

Kenji blinked. "Real ones?"

"In-village tasks, yes. Genin work."

He turned toward Ren.

"I assume you already know what kind of missions genin handle, right?"

Ren nodded once, unfazed. "I do, sensei."

Arata studied him a moment, then motioned for the other two to take a break.

"Aika, Kenji — dismissed for today. Get some rest."

As they walked off toward the treeline, Arata stepped closer to Ren, folding his arms.

"You're holding back."

Ren didn't respond at first, his gaze steady.

"Not completely," he said finally. "Just enough."

Arata's voice lowered slightly. "You're sharp, disciplined, adaptable. You lead without trying to dominate. I've taught many genin... but not many like you."

"Thank you."

The jōnin didn't smile, but there was something softer in his tone.

"Just remember — leadership isn't about knowing everything. It's about knowing when to let others shine too. Kenji and Aika are counting on you. Not just to lead. But to trust them."

Ren nodded again, this time slower.

"I won't forget that."

They stood in silence for a moment, the breeze rustling the leaves.

"Good. Meet me at the mission office tomorrow. Early."

Ren turned to leave, but paused.

"Arata-sensei… thanks."

"Get used to it, kid. You've got a long road ahead."

As Ren disappeared through the trees, Arata stood alone for a moment, watching the sun dip lower in the sky.

"Minato's blood runs strong in that one… but the path he's walking? It's his own."
