'This is bad' thought licht
From his encounter with Melinda, Licht had realised an alarming problem.
He more or less had some control over his body, but his subconscious actions, demeanour, and speaking habits seemed to have a mind of their own.
The best way to describe it would be like riding an out-of-control car speeding down the highway.
Sure, you could get the car to switch lanes, but trying to stop it or turn would simply be courting death.
so just like driving a sppeeding car , If licht went against his body's instincts too much, it would even fight back abd resit against him, sometimes going as farcausing him physical harm.
It was as if the original Licht had never truly disappeared and was clinging to his body like a ghostly parasite.
'Licht this bastard…'
If before he only disliked the previous owner of this body, now he wanted to draw out his spirit and see if he could beat him to death.
This body was basically a death trap!
Now he seriously questioned how the previous owner had even survived so far.
He was a person with a terrible mouth and personality, but at the same time no strength or talent to back it up.
He would be lucky if he wasn't dragged into a nearby alley to be killed and dumped in a nameless gutter.
After cursing the original soul of this body a few more times, Licht eventually calmed down.
He had already accepted that living in this new body would come with some struggles.
Although the lack of true control of his own body wasn't a small problem by any means, with the dark history he already knew about Licht, it was just more on the mountain of already huge problems he had to deal with.
He wouldn't collapse because of just this; it was just more that he had to plan for… more that he had to change.
But as much as Licht would have liked to find a place to think and strategise on how to handle his new body, time waits for nobody, and right now Licht had a bigger occasion waiting for him ahead.
The entrance ceremony was waiting for him—he was already late enough.
…..
Licht followed onward and walked towards the door that Melinda had gone to and entered inside.
There was a crisp click as the door's lock turned before it swung open, revealing the space in front of him.
As soon as Licht stepped into the hall room, the air seemed to freeze. All eyes turned to be on him.
If it was the original soul from Earth, he would have definitely crumbled under the pressure. But Licht D. Valtier from this world didn't just endure under such scrutiny—no, he thrived under it!
The trait 「A Valtier's Pride (S)」 seemed to have been pumped full of steroids and was displayed on full effect.
The attention was feeding his pride, which only caused his temperament to become even more arrogant and domineering.
Instead of hiding from the glances, he calmly scanned across the room, facing each one with a sense of arrogance as he continued to walk forward.
Noticing the changes in his body, Licht's mind—now in semi-autopilot—internally breathed a sigh of relief. For once, he wasn't disgusted by his body's seemingly separate will and let it go, using this chance to look around and observe his surroundings.
Licht wasn't an expert when it came to reading people or psychology, but as he looked around he could sense all sorts of emotions.
It couldn't be helped. This body was just an existence that was too important to be overlooked—even by people that hated his existence—allowing emotions that people of this level would usually control to inevitably leak to the surface.
Intrigue
Jealousy
Hatred
Disgust
Licht could feel all sorts of emotions hitting him directly as he walked up towards the centre of the room where a group of other students were gathered.
But even with all this, there was only one person that Licht simply couldn't get a read on.
A man standing at the centre of the room who, before Licht had opened the door, was clearly the centre of attention.
It was a tall man that stood with an imposing body that made one feel like they were standing in front of a bear. His thick grey beard barely managed to obscure his simple sunny smile.Despite his powerful physique, the man clearly showed some signs of ageing, with greys scattered through his hair and crow's feet wrinkled at the edge of his eyes.He looked to only be in his late 50s, but Licht knew his age was much more horrifying than just that.
After all, this man was a living legend.
If [The Saviour of Slayer Society] game ever had a prequel, there was no doubt in Licht's mind that this man would be the protagonist.
The only reason that the Slayer Academy exists as a free institution, separate from the watch and control of the 8 Great Families, was because of this man's strength.
Talented, capable, compassionate—but most importantly, a man from an ordinary background.
Not only was he not from one of the 8 Great Families, he wasn't even from the relatively weaker families with any sort of history.
A true commoner.
An ordinary man with nothing but a sense of purpose and a sword in hand who had carved out a path forward for ordinary people in the modern era.
In a way, he was everything the previous Licht wasn't.
Where Licht had a powerful background, he lacked anything of the sort.
Where Licht lacked talent, he had it in abundance.
With such a contrast, it wasn't surprising that the previous owner of this body had also hated this man.
But even this didn't stop someone as twisted as the previous Licht from still appreciating his strength.
After all, even a place as arrogant and prideful as the Valtier family library told stories of his feats of grandeur.
He was the Eternal Spell blade – Grant Greyfax!
