Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 – Tigerfolk

Kael Vireon stood still amidst the clearing, breathing in the fresh, humid air of the rainforest territory. The moment he arrived through the Gate, the entire world shifted around him — lush greenery, the chorus of birds and beasts, and the pulsating hum of mana in the air — this was nothing like Laki. This was the Primordial Domain.

'Compared to Danny's barren territory, this is a treasure trove…' Kael mused, awe glittering in his eyes.

But his thoughts were interrupted — a presence approached.

From beneath the shade of a massive tree, a figure stepped forward: a young woman with long silver hair and eyes that shimmered like moonlight. Her black and white maid outfit contrasted her natural elegance. Two pointed, furred ears twitched gently atop her head, and a sleek, silver-striped tail swayed behind her.

Kael blinked, mouth half-open.

"She has ears… and a tail?!"

A Demi-Human. A Feline, no less.

'A maid… and she's from a different race? This can't be real. Did I stumble into a dream realm instead of the Domain?!'

The girl's cheeks turned pink under his gaze. She bowed gracefully, her silver hair cascading forward like a waterfall.

"My Lord," she said, voice soft and clear. "I am your appointed Maid and the first subject of your territory. My name is Tiara, of the Silverfang Tigerfolk Clan. I shall serve you with my life."

Kael stared, speechless for a moment.

In his life, he had always been overlooked, underestimated, treated like an underdog. Now, he was addressed as 'Lord' by a beautiful warrior maid from a powerful beastkin lineage?

He coughed awkwardly, brushing a hand through his hair.

"I… I'm Kael Vireon. You can call me however you're comfortable. There's no need to be so tense," he said, trying to sound calm.

Tiara raised her head slightly but avoided eye contact. Her hands clutched her apron tightly.

"Forgive me, My Lord. I was taught not to meet a master's gaze unless permitted…"

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"You don't need to follow such stiff rules with me. I'm still getting used to all this myself. Honestly, I have a hundred questions, but—are you really from the Silverfang Tigerfolk Clan? That's… not in the Racial Index I studied."

Tiara's eyes widened, lips parting with a soft breath. She looked like she wanted to speak, but her voice failed her at first. Eventually, she whispered,

"Y-yes… my clan is ancient, but forgotten. We lived hidden, away from the wars of the greater races… until the Calamity…"

Her eyes dimmed, voice trailing off into silence. The pain in her expression told him everything he needed.

Kael didn't press further. He simply smiled gently.

"It's a beautiful name. Silverfang… well, my family name is Vireon, but our ancestral line once bore the name Fang. Sounds like fate, doesn't it?"

Tiara blinked. Her lips quivered slightly, and a shy smile curled onto her face.

"Maybe… fate does work in strange ways, My Lord…"

Kael chuckled and turned his gaze toward his surroundings. The lush rainforest, the small but elegant wooden manor behind him, and the Summoning Gate standing tall in the center of the clearing — it all felt like a dream.

His Protection Barrier shimmered faintly, a translucent dome extending a thousand meters in every direction. Nothing could enter — not monster, not man, not even a god — unless he allowed it. For ten days, this place was his. A sanctuary to establish his footing.

Kael walked toward the Summoning Gate, marveling at its technology — a blend of runic constructs and futuristic alloys, pulsing with cosmic energy.

His fingers twitched.

'I want to test it… but I should wait. First, prioritize. Then indulge.'

He turned back toward the manor. Spacious, sturdy, and well-designed — large enough for a dozen people. It was basic compared to what nobles might expect, but to Kael, it was a castle.

"Subjects will need shelter. This is a good start. The sooner I stabilize my territory, the faster I can develop it."

Inside the manor, he did a quick inspection — verifying the layout, the storage crates, and the defense enchantments embedded in the walls. Tiara followed behind, silent as a shadow.

Once they stepped out again, the silver-haired maid suddenly stopped near the door.

"My Lord," she began, fidgeting with her sleeves. "Are you still… interested?"

Kael blinked.

"Interested in… what?"

"In… learning about my Clan. You asked earlier, and I—I thought maybe you were just curious for the moment. I wouldn't want to burden you if it doesn't matter anymore…"

Kael felt a pang of guilt at her hesitance. He stepped closer, looking her in the eyes.

"Of course, I'm still interested. You're my first subject. Knowing about you, your culture, your desires — it's important. How can I lead if I don't understand those under my care?"

Tiara's cheeks flushed a deep red. Her tail swayed in slow, bashful arcs.

"Then… I will tell you more, in time," she whispered. "Thank you… My Lord."

Kael nodded, pleased by the progress. He glanced at the thick forest just beyond the barrier and clenched his fist.

'This is it. My domain. My beginning.'

But just as he was about to inspect the Summoning Gate again, a sudden realization struck him like a bolt of lightning.

"Wait… oh no. I forgot something. Something huge."

Tiara looked up in concern.

Kael reached into his combat suit and pulled out two precious items he had nearly forgotten in all the excitement:

A crystalline scroll inscribed with golden runes: the Fortune Summoning Scroll.

A glowing, translucent gem: the Soultrait Awakening Crystal.

He stared at them for a moment in disbelief.

"I forgot to use these?! How stupid can I be?!"

He smacked his forehead lightly and sighed. Tiara stifled a giggle at his expression.

Kael turned toward her, a sheepish grin on his face.

"Guess it's time to really begin, huh?"
