Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Descent

Confronted by a giant metal gate ,Finn was observing the fine patterns on the wall in front of him to his right the sun was saying its goodbyes for the day and as the world started to fall into darkness Finn decided it was better to hurry up and get inside.

The bunker was nothing like Finn imagined the place was filled with dust and cobwebs it felt as if he would be bombarded by a group of insects at any moment.

Brushing the pieces of cobwebs that he walked into by accident off his hair he continued moving deeper into the bunker he noticed a bunch of boxes covered by a piece of cloth sitting in the corner , thinking it may contain any valuables he approached it.

Who know maybe he wouldn't even have to descend into the deeper parts of the bunker.

But to Finn's dismay the boxes were empty in fact some were even already open and looted.

'I guess someone was here before me?'

That may be true or perhaps something worse was here before him or maybe it's still here with him and silently watching him.

Behind one of the boxes he saw something.

A vine? Not just a small vine but it was huge covering large parts of the walls and the ceiling.

How come Finn never noticed it walking inside?

"Huh? I guess nature reclaimed its land"

The light seeping through the small gap through the gate was starting to diminish more and more.

Finn pulled his bag off his back and onto the floor he opened it and pulled out a flash light made sure it worked well and continued looking around.

There is this saying where thing look more intense in the dark and right now Finn couldn't agree more with this statement.

It was completely dark now and his only line of vision relied on a narrow light circle that was emitted off the flash light.

From the corner of his eye he could see weird shapes forming but when he shone the light at them it would turn out to be nothing.

Were his eyes playing tricks on him?

The silence was deafening only thing he could hear were his slow footsteps he made his was to the elevator getting on a bridge and crossing it he almost walked off if it weren't for the flash light he's using , tilting his head down the pit looked bottomless Finn could swear that he saw something crawling on the wall.

Maybe it was all his imagination. Right?

Finn found the call button and now for the moment that decided how the rest of this scavenge will go.

"Here it goes , Please work!"

He then pressed the button and nothing happened.

He pressed it again and nothing happened.

'Dammit'

He put his hands over his eyes took a deep breath and exhaled.

"It's fine I'll find another way down"

Finn felt defeated he had to find another way down and quick.

Looking around he found absolutely nothing not only was it difficult making his way in this chilling darkness but there was a lot of rubble on the ground he could easily tumble and fall if he wasn't careful enough.

Walking around a corner he found a stair well at least that's what it looked like Finn would've gladly made his way down if it wasn't for the fact the the walls were caved in and that making his way down this way would nearly be impossible.

"Well there's no other way I guess"

Left with no other options Finn would have to do something that would be labeled as crazy.

'Aren't we all a little crazy sometimes'

He made his way back to the elevator shaft and took one look down again the more he looked down the more he felt dizzy as if he's about to fall but he was left with no other option he would have to climb down the elevator shaft make his way to the generator room and turn the electricity back on, only then would he be able to make his way back out.

It's all thanks to Brock that Finn knows what to do if it weren't for him Finn wouldn't have even known what a generator even is.

Finn attached the flash light to his shirt to point the light down and grabbed onto the lining and starting climbing down into the deeper parts of the bunker Finn wasn't really athletic so he'd have to hold out the whole way down.

After some time of climbing down he noticed how the walls were rusted and wires were sticking out of the wall and then a disturbing thought emerged into his mind.

'Would the elevator even work?'

Who knew how long it's been since this place was abandoned heck who can even tell if the generator would work Finn was playing his entire life on a gamble and if he succeeded he would gain so much in return so right now he had to hold on to that hope of everything going his way for once.

"Too late to turn back now anyway"

It felt as if hours had passed since he'd started climbing down surely he was almost there by now he took a look down to see but it looked as if he wasn't anywhere near the ground his mood was terrible his hands were in such pain he just wanted to let go and fall at this point.

He didn't give up though there was just too much on the line he couldn't give up just yet!

Fear and anxiousness were gone and now were replaced by exhaustion , exhaustion beyond what Finn could handled and that was why the next time he tried to put his leg down on a stable platform he slipped...

"argh"

Finn felt the weight of his body diminish air was rushing against his falling body he had to act quickly with a quick move he grabbed onto the elevator lining and tried to strengthen his grip although his speed was somewhat decreased by that and it seemed like he had saved himself at first but the friction between his hand and the lining was causing heat his hands were getting burnt.

The pain caused Finn to subconsciously let go and for a few seconds he was in free fall until he crashed into something.

He grabbed his flashlight off his shirt it was a miracle it was still on he tried to get up but he couldn't keeping his eyes open was a difficult task as is.

Shining his light it seems as if he has fallen into a crate filled with rotten apples.

Finn tried harder to get up but his body wouldn't move his eyes slowly started to close and his body succumb to exhaustion.
