Chapter 7 - red box system 2

" The red box system... red box , wait no! was it you?! "

[If the host is asking whether I am the one who killed him , then yes]

In the other dimension, seeing his young master react this way , Clement quickly scanned Rust's soul to see if anything was happening to him that he didn't detect before.

[ warning, a lifeform is scanning the hosts soul body, threat classified as non-existent ]

Hearing this sudden prompt after such a shock Rust calmed himself down and returned to speaking with the system with his thoughts.

system, why the hell did you kill me?!

[ Death was already an inevitable fate for the host on the day the system first attacked you, luckily the host matched with systems preferences so I decided to test you and see if you were capable of possessing me without letting yourself die.]

huh? I don't care what reason you have you should have just let me die, you know how much shit I went through cause of you!?

Still angry because of all the crazy things he went through from his past life

[ host relax, congratulations , you are the 1983416532195110587th host of the red box system]

.... how manyth ? Just how many host have you had?

[ The system has been in existence since the beginning, this number is a very small number host]

small ? you know what forget it, system, introduce your functions.

Not letting the conversation go any further, Rust decided to disregard all unnecessary thoughts and got to the main important thing to him right now.

[ Gladly, this system is the red box system and it's function is to give the host a red box annually which can contain anything that can contribute to the strength of the host.]

The systems introduction did not change Rust's sour mood , receiving a package each year for free that can help him improve his strength sounded nice but he knew the must be some catch.

system, what's the catch ?

[None , the host just has to continue living to receive the red boxes]

Such an answer made Rust feel that something must be more wrong, everything comes at a price and he knew that the more free things seem, they usually end up costing more at the end.

[ host do not worry , living is the cost of owning me ]

I knew it! you are gonna try to kill me again like you killed all your previous hosts!

[ incorrect , the system is not conscious enough to commit such an act , and I didn't kill those previous hosts]

So it's even worse , you probably have some sort of enemy that kills your hosts so 'you' aren't directly responsible for those deaths are you?.

Not willing to take any chances with his second life, Rust wanted to make sure he wasn't signing off his death sentence by continuing to be bound to this system.

[Incorrect, the system has no such an enemy because nobody has and will ever retain any knowledge about this system except the host at that time]

Still skeptical, Rust continued to question the system .

Then how is me continuing to live on a price ?

[ The system is not an entity but it's purpose is to see all that is to come , since I have existed i have always known the present and the past , but never the future, and the system cannot absorb energy on it's own so I need to be bound to a host to continue my existence and see all of the future , a strong host personally cultivated by the system is better ]

Even with the systems explanation, Rusts reluctance persisted.

In this life, Rust had a good background and a loving family so he had no reason to bring an uncertainty into his life.

[ all previous hosts died because they felt that they had no reason to live so they took their own lives, the current host actually had no reason to live in his past life , yet you still tried your best to continue living in spite of this. This is the reason why you are my current host. ]

System I have reasons to live in this life , if I unbind will I continue to be able to live this current life?

[ Yes]

Alright system... bind!!!

The reason why Rust continued to bind to the Red box system was simple.

The option to unbind existed.

The system had ways to make him bind forcefully and it could have blackmailed him into continue to be bound to it.

If what the system said to him was a deliberate scheme Rust couldn't care less, after all it's not like he could do anything about it if it was.

[ continuing to bind , system will enter into a state of silent observation for the next 13 years , in this state all it's function will be autonomous. Host, properly adept to this world during this period and don't die. ]
