"That's enough. I am not going to accept that from both of you. For crying out loud, why are you two acting like lunatics? You couldn't even acknowledge our presence. Have you suddenly lost respect for us?" George Cooper yelled at Dexter and Ciara as though they were kids.
He wasn't biased in his judgment, neither did he pamper Dexter because he was his son.
"Father, please cut me some slack.
Whose side are you? I can't believe you would say this to me. You were here when she insulted me. Why didn't you do something about it?" Dexter fumed at his father. He could barely conceal the frustration at George's verdict.
As his son, Dexter figured that he was entitled to some kind of benefits, which his Father deprived him of.
"Shut the fuck up, Dexter. I just knew you were going to be the first to speak.
I would never be an advocate of irrational attitude," George clapped back at Dexter. It didn't take him too long to do that. It's as though he's been waiting for this moment when he gets to disgrace Dexter publicly, and he finally finds the opportunity.
"Dad? Like seriously?
Are we going to do this right now?
Can't you even pretend to like me for once In your life?" Dexter scoffed.
"You know, sometimes I do wonder if I am your biological son because you don't treat me as one. At this point, I wished I had been adopted. What difference does it make anyway?" Dexter added just when it seemed like the drama had died off.
"Well, it's never too late. That can still be arranged. I still have another son who makes it far more interesting. Trust me when I say you won't be missed," George chuckled as he humiliated Dexter with his words right in front of Ciara and her father.
George had fun doing that. It was written over his face. If he had another opportunity, he wouldn't mind doing that a thousand times, even if it's going to help reshape Dexter's life and make him a better person again.
"It's okay, buddy. Let's not let this sink in deep. You don't have to treat him like that. I mean, he's a full-grown man." Kelly chipped in and defended Dexter.
No one saw this coming, including Ciara who was quiet the whole time. She just stood there observing the situation unfold. She did have a lot on her mind. However, none of them made sense. If uttered out, here it may likely turn out to be worse than what Dexter said.
"No, Kelly. You don't seem to be getting it. I know what I am talking about. My son is a jerk, and I am not even trying to hide it. I mean, it's a well-known fact. Even the blind know that" George berated his best friend for standing up for Dexter.
Not even the derogatory remarks from Kelly were gonna change how George feels towards Dexter.
"Finally. At least, someone believes in me more than my biological father. Although, I never asked him to come through for me. I am capable enough to fight my battles," Dexter muttered succinctly and looked sideways.
He may not have called anyone's name, but it was damn obvious that Kelly was the target.
"Okay. That's it.
I think I may have made a mistake. Maybe your Dad should put you down," Kelly sparked outrageously. He regretted ever defending Dexter. Now he looks like an idiot for defending someone who doesn't even give a fuck about him.
"I told you, buddy.
It's quite unfortunate that you didn't listen to me. Defending Dexter will only make you look stupid because it's not worth it. Dexter is my son, and I know his next move even before he makes them," George buttressed.
As much as he hated how disrespectful Dexter was to Kelly, he still wasn't going to hide the fact that he warned Kelly about the danger of supporting Dexter.
Dexter sighed.
He turned towards his father's direction and looked into his eyes without blinking. "I don't want to have this conversation anymore. I don't think my presence is needed here because it's clear to me that I was called here to be humiliated in front of your wretched friend and pathetic daughter,"
"How dare you speak to me, I'm in such a manner?" George stood up and responded by launching a thunderous slap on Dexter's chin. He was close to punching Dexter when Kelly stopped him.
"Don't do this, George. You are letting your emotions take control of you. Just let it go. The slap was more than enough to make your statement. You don't need to punch him in the face again. I believe he learned the hard way," Kelly advised while he gripped George without letting go.
Seeing how angry George had become, Kelly knew that it was only a matter of time before he started hitting Dexter with a heavy object.
"You dare slap me in the face in front of these peasants? How could you do this to your son?" Dexter cried while caressing his red chin. The shape of George's palm could be found on Dexter's right chin. It clearly showed that George aimed perfectly.
"Yes, I did. Am I proud of what I did? Absolutely. And I am going to do that again if you don't stop talking. Why have you chosen to embarrass me this way, Dexter?" George snarled.
It didn't seem like he was going to give up pretty soon.
His eyes looked so scary. His veins weren't left out, too, as they popped out of his neckline when he screamed. His face has suddenly evolved from white to pink due to his constant shouting.
Pay no attention to him. That's a trick. You're smarter than this. I don't want to believe that you wanna fall for it," Kelly begged. He did all he could not to let George off the hook because he knew what his friend was capable of.
"Stop telling me crap. I am not going to listen to your nonsense anymore. I shouldn't pay attention to him, while he continues to insult me? Are you even listening to yourself right now? If there's anyone who needs to be shut the fuck up, it's Dexter and not me,"
