When he finished speaking, Lucian Black tossed the phone back to Coulson.
"Three million. Not a cent less. If you're here to haggle, don't bother coming back."
"Get back to base," Fury's voice cut in before Coulson could respond.
Then came the sound of the call ending—beep… beep…
Coulson pursed his lips, shrugged, and turned back to Lucian. "Well then, see you next time."
"Mm. Until next time."
Both of them knew Fury wouldn't let that special katana go.
The only question was what method he'd use to get it.
[Ding! You've gained 100 Wish Points!]
Right after Coulson left, a mechanical prompt echoed in Lucian's mind.
That was his system—his cheat since arriving in this world.
Yes, Lucian Black wasn't originally from the Marvel universe. He came from a different version of Earth.
One day, he woke up to find himself here—no explanation, no warning.
Fortunately, he had activated the Dimensional Doll System, which allowed him to draw powerful combat puppets and items from countless universes.
The doll draws were straightforward, but the item draws could yield all sorts of things—skills, tools, materials, bloodlines, or even abilities.
Both draws consumed Wish Points.
And these points were gathered whenever intelligent beings experienced emotions—shock, fear, awe, excitement, disgust—toward something that came from the system.
Clearly, it was a system built to cause chaos.
Once Lucian realized this, he also recognized that the Marvel universe had too many dangerous powerhouses. So he adopted a strategy of staying hidden in the shadows and letting his summoned dolls create the chaos for him to harvest points.
Conveniently, his starter pack had included Muzan Kibutsuji and the Twelve Kizuki.
After some trials and confirmation from the system that no one—no matter how powerful—could trace these dolls back to him, he gave them free rein.
That's how the brutal cannibal incidents had started.
Of course, Lucian wasn't a lunatic.
He had instructed the dolls to only target those who deserved it.
And in Hell's Kitchen, there was no shortage of people who fit that description.
"Open status panel."
Lucian spoke in his mind, and a simple interface appeared before his eyes:
[Host: Lucian Black]
[Skills: Mastery of Swordsmanship, Sun Breathing]
[Items: Nichirin Blade]
[Dolls: Muzan Kibutsuji, Twelve Kizuki]
[Wish Points: 1006]
[Level: D-Class, Six-Star]
Items referred to anything drawn from the system. The level indicator was a ranking of personal power, divided into nine tiers: SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, and F.
Each tier had ten stars.
Thanks to the lottery, Lucian had obtained both Sun Breathing and sword mastery, putting his strength around D-Class, Six-Star—roughly on par with someone like the Winter Soldier or Falcon.
Lucian had never met them in person, but based on what he remembered from his previous life's shows—and Iron Man's capabilities—this seemed like a fair estimate.
"Over a thousand points again. Just goes to show—stirring up trouble is the fastest way to earn Wish Points."
Lucian sighed, staring at the numbers on his panel.
He'd already been in this world for a year.
But up until recently, he'd been cautious. With people like the Ancient One around—capable of peering into the future or sensing shifts in timelines—he hadn't dared act too boldly.
As a result, his point gains had been excruciatingly slow.
Only two months ago, after repeated testing and full assurance from the system that no one could link him to his dolls, had he finally unleashed Muzan and the Twelve Kizuki.
And in just those two months, he'd collected over ten thousand Wish Points.
That was more than ten times what he'd gathered in his first full year. Sun Breathing and the Nichirin Blade were both rewards from those recent draws.
And now, in just a single day, he'd gained another thousand.
"Tony only just became Iron Man last month. The Marvel world isn't that dangerous yet. My strength should be enough for now—time to summon a new doll."
The system required 100 Wish Points per draw. Lucian went straight for a ten-roll.
[Ding! You've received an F-Class Doll Fragment!]
[Ding! You've received a C-Class Doll Fragment!]
[Ding! You've received an E-Class Doll Fragment!]
[Ding! You've received an A-Class Doll Fragment!]
[Ding! You've received a C-Class Doll – Otto Suwen!]
…
…
"A full C-Class doll from just ten pulls?"
Lucian was a little surprised.
He'd done many draws in the past, but the chances of a good hit were always low.
Before he'd let Muzan and the others go wild, he had just enough points for one big pull and only managed to get basic sword mastery. After that, he'd done two fifty-pulls—fifty for dolls, fifty for items—with the ten thousand points from the chaos they caused.
Every one of the fifty doll draws? Just fragments.
From the fifty item draws? Only Sun Breathing and the Nichirin Blade came out.
But this time, one ten-pull had already landed a C-Class doll.
No doubt about it—today was a lucky day.
"Too bad I'm out of points. Otherwise, I'd keep going," Lucian muttered, somewhat regretful.
Still, he quickly turned his attention to the new puppet.
[Name: Otto Suwen]
[Role: Merchant, Domestic Advisor, Butler]
[Skill: Earth Magic]
[Special Ability: Divine Blessing of Language]
[Level: C-Class, Six-Star]
"So it's that 'War God Otto'!"
Lucian narrowed his eyes slightly as he recognized the character now floating in his system space.
Otto Suwen—from Re:Zero—wasn't physically impressive. Sure, he could flatten Subaru with one punch, but compared to superhumans? He didn't come close.
His Earth magic was weak and conditional. The Divine Blessing let him communicate with all living things, but if overused, it caused serious side effects: nosebleeds, fainting, even brain damage.
Based on stats alone, he wasn't more than E-Class material.
But Otto had a sharp mind, steady demeanor, and a calm approach to crisis management. He always identified the heart of any problem and came up with practical solutions. In fact, he was constantly cleaning up the messes of his companions.
That resourcefulness and mental fortitude earned him the nickname "War God Otto."
But for Lucian, Otto presented a dilemma.
How could he use Otto's abilities to attract more attention—and more Wish Points?
Dolls retained their original personalities and intelligence, but they had no self-awareness.
Lucian could let them operate autonomously, or possess them directly to take full control.
So there was no need to worry about their feelings.
But Otto wasn't a front-line fighter. Playing the role of a hero wouldn't work well for him.
And his personality made him a poor fit for a villain role—unlike the Twelve Kizuki and Muzan, who could easily cause chaos that shook society.
So what then? Street performance?
With Otto's ability to communicate with all living things, his act would be incredible. Audiences would be mesmerized.
However...
"If I do that, people will just think he's a talented animal trainer. The awe and applause would go to 'Trainer Otto,' not to the doll created by the system."
"In other words… no Wish Points."
