I arrive at the office three hours later than usual, my body still carrying the melody of Olivia's voice from the night before.
Scarlett looks up from her desk as I enter, her eyes scanning my face with concern. "You look exhausted."
"Long night."
"Did you... did you sleep with her?"
The question hangs in the air between us. I can see the worry in her eyes, the fear that maybe I'm not the man she thinks I am.
"No."
Relief floods her features. "Then what happened?"
"She sang for me. All night."
Scarlett blinks in confusion. "She what?"
"Performed. Like she used to before she married into the Donovan family."
"You made Gabriel's mother sing to you until dawn?"
"I gave her the chance to remember who she used to be."
Scarlett studies my face, searching for something. "You're full of surprises, Noah Lancaster."
"Good ones, I hope."
