Chapter 10 - chapter10

She did not know if he was lying to her, but she had no choice. Aenwyn fell into deep thought.

In this strange and twisted society, she had already felt the deep malice of the world, and she wondered if she could return to her homeland in this lifetime.

Aenwyn closed her eyes. "Alright," she said.

No matter what, she would fight with all her strength.

In just a few hours, rumors about the auction of a woman at Spring Wind Courtyard spread out.

The whole city was in an uproar. Since when did their Citong Town start auctioning off women?

And it was a young girl. Some people looked perverted and excited.

If it weren't for the fear of complications and the wish to get rid of this hot potato quickly, this auction would not just concern one city. It would become a grand event in all of Danzhou.

Indigo received the news and showed no expression. But the servant delivering the invitation felt a bone-chilling coldness.

He asked carefully, "Young Master Junji?" He did not dare to ask anything more.

He was on his way to Yue Manor to deliver the invitation, but halfway there he ran into them. A large group of people was rushing around looking for something.

Uncle Zhong quickly took the invitation and sent the servant away. "Young master, are we going to rescue Miss Aenwyn now?"

Indigo said, "We'll go when the auction starts, let her suffer a bit." He looked deeply in the direction of Spring Wind Courtyard and rode off on his horse.

Uncle Zhong sighed and gave an order, "Find someone to keep an eye on Miss Aenwyn."

Indigo's heart was burning like fire. He had searched the entire night.

His narrow eyes were filled with bloodshot lines, and in his heart, he thought, he would go back to rest first, then deal with those who dared to think about her.

He would dig out their eyes one by one. The handsome young man was full of killing intent.

Over at Wen Manor, Haozhou had been busy the whole night yesterday but still did not catch the person.

He was just resting when the servant came to wake him up.

The young master, who had serious morning temper, scared the servant half to death.

Just as the vase was about to smash the servant's head, he cried, "Young master, please don't! Spring Wind Courtyard said there's a woman auction. I came to pass the message."

Haozhou narrowed his eyes. "A woman?"

"Yes, yes, Spring Wind Courtyard said they are auctioning off a young girl. That's why I dared to come." The servant quickly pulled out the invitation and carefully took the vase from Haozhou's hand.

Haozhou suspiciously opened the invitation, his eyes getting wider and wider.

Not just the rich in the city, even ordinary citizens had heard the news.

"Spring Wind Courtyard actually has a woman."

"A woman. Seeing one once in this lifetime is worth it."

"Are you going?"

"Hurry up, or there won't be any space left."

"The last time I saw a little girl was over thirty years ago." An old man in his seventies sighed. "This world is getting worse."

In their generation, there were fewer women, but at least a few men could marry one wife.

Since girls became fewer, the court started taking them all to raise.

It had really been decades since a girl had grown up in this town of Citong.

For ordinary people like them, the young men stayed single, and the old had no one to care for them. What was the point of being alive like this?

He looked at the excited young men rushing wildly toward Chunfeng Courtyard and sighed, his cloudy eyes filled with endless worry. "Young ones, better not go, there might be bloodshed."

"Get lost, you old fool, don't get in my way, I'm here to see women." The man being held back shoved the old man aside.

"There might be bloodshed, there might be bloodshed." He remembered the auction in Citong ten years ago. Who knows how many people died back then.

Zhu Liu had just paid his head tax at the yamen and was knocked over by the rushing crowd. He quickly grabbed someone and asked, "What's going on? Why is everyone running that way?"

The man he held was full of excitement. "There's a woman auction at Chunfeng Courtyard. If you're too slow, you won't even get in." After speaking, he noticed Zhu Liu was still holding onto his clothes and angrily shoved him off. "Move aside."

The skinny boy stood frozen, stunned. "She's actually a woman."

That's right, she was that beautiful. He had actually sold a woman with his own hands.

Mama Rong hadn't expected the reaction to be so overwhelming. She had no choice but to change the auction location to the open square where Citong usually held public events.

He was filled with anxiety and a growing sense of dread. There was still an hour left before the hour of the dog, but the crowd kept growing, more and more people coming from the nearby towns after hearing the news.
