Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: A Massacre.

In the orphanage courtyard, a little girl sat among the flowers, carefully weaving them into a wreath. It was Skye, who hadn't been at Mary's Orphanage for long.

Once the wreath was finished, she beamed with delight and ran toward Kurogai, holding the flower crown up to him with both hands.

"Big brother Kurogai, this is for you."

Through the circle of flowers, Skye looked up at him with hopeful eyes, silently wishing he would accept her small gift.

"I'll take it. Thank you, little Skye," Kurogai said with a faint smile as he gently took the wreath from her.

Instantly, Skye's face lit up, and she twirled around happily before skipping back to the flowerbed.

In just a few days, Skye had already grown more comfortable at the orphanage. Her bond with Kurogai had also deepened—and it all started with a single moment.

Children in orphanages tend to be sensitive. Without the warmth of a family, it was easy for resentment to build, especially among the older kids. They often picked on newcomers—Skye was no exception.

Not long after her arrival, a few older boys had targeted her. Kurogai, who had promised Director Mary that he would look after her, had stepped in. He had no patience for bullies—and he didn't tolerate it.

Kurogai dealt with the troublemakers swiftly, teaching them a lesson they wouldn't forget. It wasn't the first time he had dealt with things like this, and though he didn't consider it a big deal, to Skye—it meant everything.

She had grown up without support, living behind emotional walls, her world small and cold. But then came someone who stood up for her. That moment sparked something inside her—something long dormant.

A feeling called warmth.

That was why Skye clung to Kurogai. She followed him around like a little shadow. And Kurogai didn't mind. He'd noticed the change, but said nothing. In his heart, having a little sister like her wasn't so bad.

As Skye ran back toward the flower patch, Kurogai watched her and smiled faintly. But behind his calm eyes, his mind was already drifting elsewhere—toward the threats outside the orphanage.

Over the past few days, Kurogai had been thinking deeply about Hydra, S.H.I.E.L.D., and his own uncertain future. But more than anything, he'd been focusing on strengthening his abilities.

Power was everything. Without it, nothing else mattered. And Kurogai understood this perfectly.

His current focus was on upgrading his first pupil ring—the Geass Eye. And the method? Emotional resonance. He needed to accumulate enough emotional fluctuations to trigger an evolution.

He had already tested this theory during his encounter with Natasha, but since she wasn't around anymore, he needed alternative sources of emotional change.

So he turned inward—revisiting traumatic memories, simulating crisis scenarios in his mind… even triggering reactions through less conventional means.

(Yes, even watching certain explicit adult videos had proven to stir enough emotion to contribute to the process.)

"I'm not wasting time—I'm cultivating power," Kurogai had told himself unapologetically as he leaned into this strange but effective method.

That emotional buildup had been rising steadily—and just moments ago, he felt it hit its peak.

[Emotional threshold reached. First Pupil Ring eligible for upgrade. Proceed with evolution?]

A system message echoed in his mind. Kurogai's eyes lit up.

"Yes. Upgrade," he responded mentally.

In that instant, warm energy surged from the Ultimate Eye totem, channeling directly into his pupils.

His irises shifted as the Geass Eye awakened in full. An inverted "V" symbol—the mark of a soaring eagle—flashed brilliantly in his eyes.

"What…?! This is unexpected."

Kurogai's voice trembled with excitement. A wave of euphoria flooded him—not only had the Geass Eye evolved, but it had unlocked a second ability.

Future Sight.

The ability to briefly see into the future—an extension Kurogai hadn't anticipated. Until now, he thought the Geass Eye granted only Absolute Command.

But this new skill was something else entirely—an ability that could change everything.

Kurogai immediately understood where it came from.

It was Bismarck Waldstein's Geass—the Knight of One from another world. In his timeline, Bismarck was the emperor's strongest sword, a martial master who developed his Geass to predict opponents' movements several seconds ahead.

But Kurogai's version was even more powerful.

While Bismarck's foresight was limited to five seconds in combat, Kurogai could glimpse into moments up to one hour in the future.

Slightly different—but far more versatile.

"This… this is game-changing."

His mind raced with possibilities. And now, he needed to test it.

"Let's try it out. Skye, come here for a second!" Kurogai called excitedly.

Hearing his voice, Skye immediately ran over, still carrying bits of grass and dirt on her tiny feet.

"Yes, big brother Kurogai?"

"Skye, look into my eyes."

She blinked, then obediently sat in front of him, gazing into his mismatched pupils.

The Geass Eye activated.

Geass: Future Sight – Activated.

Time froze for Kurogai as a vision surged into his mind.

And what he saw made his blood run cold.

The orphanage, an hour from now…

Blood stained the earth. The courtyard was filled with lifeless bodies. Panic. Screams. The scent of smoke and death in the air. It was chaos—total devastation.

A massacre.
