BEGIN
Early 1997
A relatively overweight middle-aged man, balding, dressed in flashy clothes like a wannabe tycoon, struggled to crawl out of his overturned car. His name was Shiro Ishida—a murderer who had slaughtered both his wife and child before fleeing to Hokkaido.
Behind him, police sirens wailed through the forest, lights flashing in the misty darkness. Dew clung to the leaves. The smell of burning rubber and gasoline filled the air. His car was on fire, the flames crackling as smoke rose into the night.
Footsteps pounded from behind—many of them. Shiro, pale with fear, scrambled from the wreckage and ran toward the cliffs ahead.
High above, among the silent stars, a pale blue light shimmered into existence.
A single, divine eye had opened—watching. It observed him.
It observed humanity as it tore itself apart.
Shiro reached the cliff's edge, panting, exhausted. Despair settled into his bones.
Before him: a deadly fall into an endless abyss.
Behind him: the police, approaching fast.
The price for his sins... perhaps death in prison, or something far worse.
But then—light.
A white radiance suddenly engulfed him. His blood boiled. His body twisted.
The thirst began.
Within hours, Shiro Ishida had slaughtered every police officer on site.

Five weeks later, after his transformation—
Divine-Humans began appearing all over the world.
And humanity entered the beginning of an age of extinction.

April 24, 1997
Outside the classroom window, birds soared gracefully with the spring breeze. The sky had begun to shift from blue to a gentle orange hue. Buds sprouted from tree branches, signaling the start of a new season.
Inside, the classroom buzzed with activity—students scribbling notes, the teacher passionately writing on the board. Near the back, a group of boys whispered to each other.
But Asuka sat silently. Her hand moved gracefully across the page, her handwriting elegant, like a painter brushing delicate strokes onto a canvas.
Then, suddenly—
The school's PA system crackled to life with a disturbing static screech.
The sound pierced through everyone's ears like nails.
Asuka winced, clutching her head, as though her skull might burst.
Around her, students panicked, murmuring, confused.
Student [1]
—"Turn it off...!"
He grabbed a notebook and tried hitting the speaker.
But the noise only grew louder—until a voice emerged.
The voice of the Prime Minister.
His words echoed not only through the school but across all of Tokyo.
He was terrified.
Prime Minister
—"Starting today, for the next ten days, no one is allowed on the streets. All activities are to be halted. Return to your homes immediately. Do not go outside unless absolutely necessary."
Then—
The sound cut out again.
In the distance, tiny fires began to flicker across the skyline.
A male student turned to Asuka, his black hair covering half his face. Others nearby whispered with growing concern.
He didn't seem to understand what was happening either.
Student [2]
—"Do you think this is just something small, Asuka?"
Asuka replied calmly, brushing her hair back into place.
Asuka
—"Probably just Aum Shinrikyo again. Same thing happened two years ago..."
But then—
A scream tore through the room.
Student [3]
—"Police! The military...!"
Everyone rushed to the windows.
Outside the school walls, convoys of police vehicles and even defense forces were moving in formation.
Sirens echoed from every direction.
It felt like the end of the world.
Suddenly—BAM!
The classroom door burst open.
Standing there, covered in blood, was a police officer in his 40s.
His hand—shredded, bones sticking out like twisted metal. It looked like something had bitten it off. Blood poured from the wound.
Officer [1]
—"Evacuate! Now! The school isn't safe anymore!"
He collapsed backward, gasping for air, barely alive.
The students screamed.
Girls dropped to the floor, sobbing in fear.
Asuka trembled and began to cry.
It was the most horrifying moment of her life.
Asuka
—"Mom... please... save me..."
All around, horrifying noises rang through the halls.
Crunching, like something grinding bone.
Screams.
Running footsteps—cut off as quickly as they began.
It was as if a predator was hunting them.
Without warning, a male student collapsed—his heart ripped out.
And standing there—
A grown man, around 30 years old. Massive. Wild-eyed.
Blood dripped from his mouth as he devoured a girl's head, chewing through bone, her brain spilling out onto the floor.
???:
—"Mmh... ha... Human flesh... this feeling..."
Asuka was frozen in place, bloodless, silently sobbing.
Terrified beyond words.
A brave student rushed up behind the monster with a chair.
But with a single swipe, the man sent him flying into the window.
The boy's body shattered like glass, blood and bone splattering in all directions.
Panic erupted.
Students tried to run—
But one by one, they were caught and torn apart.
One had his legs ripped off, guts spilling.
Another had their chest gouged out.
It was no longer human.
It slowly approached Asuka, blood-soaked mouth grinning, ready to feast.
Then—
Gunfire.
Bullets riddled the monster's body, knocking it to the ground. It convulsed, still alive, trying to regenerate—
Until a sharp axe came crashing down, severing its head clean off.
Now standing in front of her—
A soldier from the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
Tall—about 190 cm. Black eyes. Messy long hair. Drenched in sweat.
He looked exhausted.
Gunfire echoed in the distance.
He knelt beside her, lifting her up gently.
KEN
—"This is Lieutenant Ken. Reporting: one survivor in Class 2-E."
Outside, armored vehicles and police convoys surrounded the school.
From behind, medical personnel arrived, checking Asuka's vitals.
When she stepped out of the classroom—
Blood.
The officer who had warned them was now dead.
In the hallways—bodies everywhere. Students, soldiers.
Some missing limbs, others had crushed skulls, or had been eaten alive.
In one corridor, corpses were piled like garbage.
At the school's makeshift medical station—
Fewer than 20 students had survived.
Many were injured, others sobbed, shaking uncontrollably.
Asuka sat among them.
Her thoughts clouded with fear.
"Please... don't kill me... Please..."
She vomited.
Her body went limp, muscles giving out.
She had just barely escaped death.
The medics rushed toward her—
