Chapter 1: First Years with the Family – Part 1
Okay life as a baby is rough, l have to get used to living in a world not full of water, I can't fully control my muscles, my energy reserves are abysmal at best, and let's not forget that I have to endure the humiliation of having my worst enemy (Edith) and her merry band of maids changing my clothes and bathing me.
I also have to have one of them accompanying me at any point of the day so I don't have an ounce of free time.
It took me 3 months to get an understanding of the language here and in that timeline I found out that I had two (more like one and a half) special traits.
1 :- (mind) my mind has this special ability to use the information it has on hand to make the most logical outcome, that's how I was able to understand the local language so quickly, but knowing the language does not mean I can speak It my vocal codes have not developed much yet.
Also I can't seem to forget any strand of information that crosses my mind, like I can't forget anything I've seen, heard, touched, felt or smelt.
2 :- (energy control) I can use my stamina as efficiently as possible to make it last longer or at least I try it usually feels like I'm forcing my soul to do something it was made to do but it gets around.
There's always these types of energy in the world but whenever I try to reach out to them I fail.
...…
At five months old I now had the necessary muscle strength and enough energy to crawl around the same floor as my room (Man those stairs are rough) it's not much but it at least fights of the boredom, it usually doesn't easily get to me but at five months of requiring someone to get around the boredom was getting to me.
Since I was now capable of crawling around I made it a point to map out the environment, but that just got me in trouble with the merry bend of maids for ditching their escort, but I always felt that I never lost them and that they just faked it, but the scolding they gave me was real enough.
And I discovered a lot of rooms in the castle why that in itself made me giddy (thumbs up for the child mind) but I could not open the doors myself but just finding the rooms felt like an adventure, and let me say I fell in love with adventuring that I just knew I wanted to go on one great adventure but I knew as a member of the new Auric family.
...…
At three years old my family no longer bothered me that much because I was no longer the youngest member in the family, Aunt Eve gave birth to twins both girls Laura and Louise and let me say I'm glad it happened because since I'm no longer, as they Dub me the cutest I was no longer smothered as much.
As I was walking through the halls of the castle with one of the maid brigade behind me I noticed Sebastian through one of the windows though it seems he wasn't alone as he was talking with a kid around my age though he seemed older. This was a surprise to me because while the servants worked in the castle they all lived in an artificial town created in a clearing around a few Kilometres From the castle I was told the reason for this was that my Grandfather did not like the vibe of the domain's centre-town so he had the castle built in one of the forest near the town but by now there were small settlements around the castle but he still made it a point it stayed small, so it was rare to see someone who was not part of the castle workforce as my Gramps was not too trusting, I think it was a consequence of growing up in the Royal Court.
The distance to where there were was not that much so it took little of my time to get there.
"Young Master it's good to see you enjoying a walk in this fine weather" as soon as he saw me he said those words to me, it seemed he thought I was on a walk, but I do have to say the weather seems divine today.
"No Sebastian I saw you through the window, I just came to see who our guest is" with those words I drew my eyes to the boy by his side to point out who I was talking about.
"Hoh hoh you mean Tristian?" he laughed while stroking his beard, as always he seemed like that jolly grandpa who always had sweets in his pocket.
"I was showing him around as he will be staying with me from now on, the poor child lost both his parents at such a young age" though I said all servants aren't allowed to live on castle grounds Sebastian and Edith are the exception, there had been my gramp's attends since he was a baby.
His words got my attention and now that I think about it the boy's (Tristian) eyes look too dead to belong to a child.
"Tristian, that's a good name"
"I thank you for the praise young master" he answers with a deadpan expression, and it seems I said that out loud.
"Ohh, how old are you young lad" I ask surprised by his level of formality.
"I'm close to turning five"
His words were like a hammer to my to my poor fragile ego
"Ohh you're older than me are you?" I say while weakly holding my heart like it had been shot by an arrow.
"I've decided I don't like the expression you're making so im making you my follower and I'm going to show you a good time" I say all this while pointing my finger at him with one of the brightest smiles I have ever given.
Throughout all this Sebastian was smiling at us, this was how I also met my best friend.
