Chapter 10 it is — danger strikes, and cold, ruthless Jae-hyun becomes the human shield Seo

---

(Seo-rin's POV)

---

The silence was too heavy.

Not peaceful. Not quiet.

Tense. Waiting.

She had just returned from the hallway, heart still racing from the words Jae-hyun had spoken hours ago.

> "I don't know how to be anything but cold."

"Then maybe it's time you learned."

She couldn't stop thinking about it.

About him.

The man who wore power like armor and fear like fire.

---

Then she heard it.

A crash.

Glass. Distant. Then closer.

Voices — not Jae-hyun's guards.

Shouting. Footsteps.

Gunshots.

One.

Two.

Three.

Seo-rin's blood turned cold.

The lights flickered once, and suddenly—

Her door burst open.

---

Not Jae-hyun.

A man in black. Masked. Armed.

Her body froze. Every scream caught in her throat.

He raised the gun.

But he didn't get to pull the trigger.

Because in the blink of a second—

Another shadow slammed into him from the side.

Gun clattered. Body hit the ground. Hard.

Seo-rin stumbled back as the attacker was disarmed, throat pinned under a knee—

Jae-hyun.

Eyes blazing.

Hands bloodied.

Expression terrifying.

---

"You. Touch. What's mine?"

His voice was low. Controlled.

But lethal.

He didn't kill him — not yet.

Instead, he turned to the man gasping under him.

"Who sent you?"

A pause.

"Was it Han Ji-tae?"

The attacker said nothing. Until Jae-hyun pressed his boot harder.

"Answer me or die slowly."

Still, no response.

He dropped the man — unconscious from the blow — and turned to Seo-rin.

---

"You okay?"

The words were calm.

His hands? Shaking.

His breathing? Ragged.

But his eyes searched her like she was the only thing that mattered in the room full of danger.

"I'm fine," she whispered, still shaking.

He moved to her, fast but careful, like approaching something breakable.

Then — something no one would ever believe.

He pulled her into his arms.

Tight. Protective.

Warm.

> And she realized

For the first time in years, Jae-hyun was afraid.

---

"No one's supposed to get in here," he muttered, holding her tighter.

"This place is impenetrable."

But it wasn't.

She wasn't.

And now, someone knew it.
