Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Big Dreams

High above the clouds, Lyon soared as Jetray. With Cecil busy processing his new background information and preparing his place to stay, Lyon had plenty of time on his hands. So to get better with the Omnitrix, he was sent to patrol around New York, looking for any criminals to stop - the usual superhero thing. He didn't really have anything better to do, other than either sitting on his ass or going out and messing around. Plus with Jetray's speed and agility in the air, it was both the logical choice and the most exciting one to pick for traveling distance.

Plus being capable of going into space, but Lyon hasn't gotten that far yet. Plus space absolutely terrified him, so he wasn't gonna mess with that for quite a while, he hoped.

Still, never in his wildest dreams would he be able to fly with his own wings. Sure, he's been on planes and helicopters before, but to be able to fly with needing any sort of equipment was... euphoric. The rush, the speed, the feeling of the cold wind against his skin, it was one of the things he really loved about the Omnitrix, it allowed him to experience the things a different species felt. Even if his biology was different, he was still himself.

"With everyone being busy, I might as well see where I can pitch in a little. Doesn't hurt to be proactive." Lyon said to himself, his eyes narrowing as he peered down towards the city below him. "Man, this is freaky. And I thought my fear of heights was bad. Still, no better time like the present to learn to face your fears." He declared, a wide grin spreading across his ray-like face.

Down below, the city itself was relatively peaceful. There weren't any sirens, no police cars, just the average, everyday traffic. Nevertheless, things weren't always what they appeared to be on first glance, so Lyon made sure everything was going well down there. And fortunately, he could swoop down like a speeding bullet, catching anyone unprepared. Jetray was essentially an airborne speedster, and it would only make sense to capitalize on that.

Granted, Lyon still wasn't quite sure how to completely use the Omnitrix to its fullest. He's only had the damned thing for a week so far, while Ben had experience with it for far longer than he had. Plus the watch had features and gimmicks that even he didn't quite understand or how to operate. Who knows what other sorts of gimmicks the damned watch have or was added when Azmuth fixed it. For all he knew, the thing could explode on him any second.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Then, suddenly, sirens began to blare. Even from high up, Lyon could hear their distant wailing coming from below him. Sensing his cue, Lyon swooped in, following the noise closer and closer. He zipped and zagged across massive skyscrapers, allowing gravity to take him as he began to freefall. With a grin splitting his face, he dove down, spotting several police cars chasing an armored truck. From the rear of the armored truck, several balaclava-wearing men shot at the police with rifles and submachine guns.

"Ah, it's just like Heat!" Lyon commented, racing past the cop cars and towards the speeding truck. "I'm sorry, sir! I'm gonna need to see you license and registration, please!" He cackled, flying right beside the absolutely wide-eyed driver of the vehicle. Grinning, Lyon then angled his body, avoiding the gun-waving hand of the driver. Several shots were fired, and Lyon extended his flaps, getting behind the vehicle. "Sorry, but you're going to have to take a detour!" Lyon exclaimed, firing off a neuroshock blast from his eyes, destroying the rear tires of the armored truck.

Immediately, the armored vehicle began to swerve. Steadily becoming more unstable as it began to careen to the left. Impacting at full force into a nearby bakery. The sound of screeching metal and broken glass followed, and Lyon soared high above. From that distance away, he could hear the sound of hydraulics being activated, along with mechanical servo motors. Then, the dark gray rear door began to leak out mist and gas.

Lyon's instincts screamed at him, and so he listened. In less than a second, the door to the van completely blown off of its hinges. Emerging from the wreckage, an armored and mechanical suit of some kind raised its arm, firing off a crimson lance of energy directly at Lyon. He flew higher, avoiding the beam of energy coming straight for him. With a frown forming on his face, Lyon looked over the situation, then to the armored truck's wreckage.

"Oh, they just had to rob a robotics company, didn't they? More work for me." Lyon grumbled, clicking his teeth as he avoided several more energy blasts. "Alright, then. If you want to rumble that badly, let's rumble." He said with a wide grin on his face.

Reaching for the Omnitrix on his chest, Lyon gave it a light slap. In a flash of emerald green light, he began to transform. His body began to shift, becoming taller, broader, and heavier. The red skin covering his body began to transform into a blueish-green crystal. His head became angular, the same crystal becoming his face. And with a grin on his crystalline features, Lyon dropped down, firing off several smaller crystals from his palms.

"Diamondhead! You're boxed in! Nowhere to run!" Lyon bellowed, landing onto the asphalt below him with a thunderous boom as his body impacted. "Everyone, run! Get to safety! Get behind the crystals!" He shouted, conjuring forth several walls of crystal for the panicked civilians to flee to. The pillars rose, surrounding the the area and creating massive walls all around, with a large concentration being around the truck, Lyon, and the robot. "Okay, Gearhead, you're going down." Lyon growled as he sprinted into action.

Morphing his arms into a pair of blades, Lyon sidestepped from an incoming beam, the lance missing him and destroying a nearby mailbox. The robot's eyes flashed for a brief moment, the machine then barreling towards Lyon with swift, mechanical steps. The machine then reeled its arm back, preparing to deliver to a blow, but Lyon was too fast for it, ducking beneath and allowing the limb to swing over him. Utilizing his years in boxing, Lyon then delivered a stab into the robot's vulnerable side, right where a liver would be.

However, it meant little to the robot. Metal arms wrapped around Lyon, and he was immediately being pushed back by the machine. Letting out a grunt, Lyon slammed his foot into the ground, shaking off several crystals which grew over his knees. These crystals then dug into the ground, allowing Lyon the encase the robot's feet, preventing it from moving as it halted. Then, growing a large blade from his knee, Lyon then slammed it into the robot's stomach repeatedly, letting out a roar as he tore off its upper torso using his strength.

"Now you're half the bot you used to be!" Lyon exclaimed, tossing the robot's upper torso onto the ground, the machine apparently still not dead. It's eyes began to charge up with crimson energy, but Lyon simply placed his hand around the robot's eyes, preventing it from firing as its head exploded in his hands. "Chromastone would've been a better pick, but I feel like getting aggressive. Really aggressive." He said, transforming his hands into a spiked maces.

Raising his arms up, Lyon them began to pummel the machine. His crystalline weapons tore through the metal and circuits of the automaton, mercilessly hacking it apart. For several more seconds, he continued to pound the machine, making sure to crush and destroy any part of it that might be operational. And with one final slam of his mace, the central core of the machine was crushed, causing the robot to become limb.

Satisfied, Lyon stepped away from the destroyed robot, glancing over towards the armored truck. He could already see the armed men begin to pile out of the vehicle, most relatively unharmed from the crash. Giving the area one last look around, making sure all civilians in the area were evacuated, Lyon then commanded the crystal walls around him to shrink. And with one conscious command, they then shattered. Noticing this, the criminals made a break for the nearest gap, but Lyon wouldn't let them get away that easily.

Slapping his crystal hand onto the Omnitrix on his chest, Lyon's body once again began to change. His body became smaller, thinner, his crystalline body becoming flesh and bone. A greenish garb wrapped around his body, and a pair of fairy-like wings sprouted from his back. Purplish hair then grew from his head, and Lyon used his new transformation to fly towards the fleeing criminals.

"Pesky Dust!" Lyon announced with a high-pitched, cutesy voice. "Sorry, guys! But you're in need of a loooong nap." He purred, hovering around the quartet of armed men, releasing a green-colored powder as he flew. The criminals tried to raise their guns, but they immediatley began to feel the effects, their eyes drooping and their movements slurred. Floating over them like the fairy as he was, Lyon then grinned widely, pointing to them with a dainty, gloved finger. "Sleep." Lyon commanded.

Without any warning, the four men dropped their guns, and collapsed onto the ground, snoring. Fluttering over them, Lyon put a hand to his mouth and gave a devilish giggle. With his job complete, he then turned towards the dumbstruck police officers surrounding the scene, and waved to them.

"They're down, fellas. Feel free to take 'em away!" Lyon called, with the officers giving each other contemplative looks. They shrugged, and several of them began to move in, cuffs dangling from their hands. Kicking away the criminals' weapons, the officers began to cuff them, the balaclava-wearing men still fast asleep. Lyon then placed his hands on his hips. "Don't worry, guys. They're just fast asleep. Let's just say they're living the dream." He snickered.

Yet, before Lyon could do anything else, he spotted the familiar silhouette of Robot's hovering vehicle. Besides them, Atom Eve flew down towards Lyon, the human-turned-Nemuina offering them a wave. The vehicle then touched down towards the ground, allowing Rex, Robot, and Dupli-Kate to disembark. For a moment, they stared at Lyon, with him only paying them with a smile.

"Wait, Lyon? That you?" Atom Eve was first to ask, her eyes blinking at Lyon's form. "You're... a fairy." She said slowly.

"Yup! An alien fairy!" Lyon confirmed with a trill, nodding his head. "Glad you all decided to show up, but I already handled things here. But I appreciate you all being here!" He said cheerily, flashing the Teen Team a cutesy wink.

The team of teenage superheroes remained quite for a few moments. They stared at Lyon with a blank, deadpan look about them. Even Robot seemed to be at a loss for words, despite Lyon knowing he was using the drone remotely. Then, breaking the silence, Dupli-Kate stepped forward.

"God, don't take this the wrong way, but you're the cutest thing I've ever seen." Dupli-Kate declared, causing Lyon to blink in confusion.

"Thanks, I guess?" Lyon replied, his features scrunching up as he scratched the back of his head. "I... don't really know how to respond to that. But thank you?" He said unsurely. "Anyways! I've gotta go, Cecil's probably going to call me back. So if there's anything you need, feel free to give me a call!" Lyon concluded, saluting to the group as he flew off, his wings fluttering rapidly.

Internally, Lyon didn't exactly know how to process that compliment. Sure, even he had to admit, Pesky Dust was adorable, but experiencing it firsthand was kind of weird. Dupli-Kate and Atom Eve looked just about to hug him at any moment the longer he stayed there. Despite that, Lyon felt good knowing that his outing was a success, even managing to keep the collateral damage and civilian casualties to a minimum. But Lyon knew that his days would only get stranger from here on out.

Flying onto the roof of a tall skyscraper, Lyon took a moment to appreciate the view he had. Yet, this was cut short as a yellowish light flashed behind him, with Cecil Steadman appearing in thin air. The agent crossed his arms over his chest, and gave Lyon a look.

Lyon gave him a light shrug, tapping the Omnitrix on his chest and reverting back into his human form with a green flash. He grinned widely, and leaning onto an air conditioning unit on the roof.

"Hey, you can't blame a guy wanting to see a little action, can you?"
