Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Technique of Reflecting the Mind

Chapter 8: Technique of Reflecting the Mind

"Panel!"

Upon returning home, Seimei immediately opened his panel.

A familiar light-blue screen appeared:

[Name]: Uchiha Seimei

[Age]: 10

[Constitution]: 5

[Spirit]: 7

[Chakra]: 21(159 → 189)

[Bloodline]: Sharingan · Not Awakened(51/100)

[Skills]:

Chakra Refinement Technique: Lv0(53/100)→ Lv0(98/100)

Clone Technique: Lv1(2/200)→ Lv1(20/200)

Transformation Technique: Lv0(77/100)→ Lv1(19/200)

Substitution Technique: Lv0(71/100)→ Lv1(18/200)

Basic Taijutsu: Lv1(16/200)→ Lv1(65/200)

Tool Throwing: Lv2(10/500)→ Lv2(42/500)

As shown, in just five short days, his strength had increased once again.

Among these, his chakra capacity had risen by 30 points, reaching a total of 189.

This level of chakra might not be much when compared to true prodigies, but among peers his age, it was already considered above average.

After all, he was only ten years old.

For most ninjas, the prime years of growth were between the ages of twelve and sixteen.

Before that, unless someone was a born genius, there usually wasn't a huge gap.

But Seimei had already begun pulling ahead of his peers, and that alone was enough to label him a young prodigy.

Of course, judging just by chakra capacity might be a bit misleading.

But if you added in his Lv1 Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, Substitution Technique, Basic Taijutsu, and his Lv2 Tool Throwing, then the title was fully deserved.

Even among past graduates of the six-year system, he would rank in the upper-middle tier.

What's more, there were still two weeks left before the graduation exam—plenty of time for another jump in strength.

By then, even if he were sent to the battlefield—

'Uh… still feels a bit risky.'

Seimei's eyes scanned over the panel and suddenly realized he lacked a real trump card.

Just as well—his Chakra Refinement Technique was now at Lv0(98/100), only a step away from leveling up.

Once it did, the effect on chakra recovery would certainly increase.

That would give him enough margin to study a higher-grade ninjutsu.

As for where to find such a technique?

No need to worry. His previous self's parents had left behind several ninjutsu scrolls in the study. Once he pushed Chakra Refinement Technique to Lv1, he would go pick one to study.

And with the proficiency panel, he didn't have to worry about failing to learn it. As long as it didn't clash with his chakra nature, he could grind it up to beginner level—or even beyond.

Acting on the thought, Seimei closed the panel, fetched a military ration pill from the inner room, swallowed it, and began operating the Chakra Refinement Technique.

One minute. Two minutes. Five. Ten…

Soon, two hours passed.

Suddenly, Seimei opened his eyes. A gleam of insight flashed in his gaze, and a stream of comprehension surfaced in his mind.

At this moment, he gained a completely new understanding of the Chakra Refinement Technique.

If Lv0 refinement efficiency equaled one, then Lv1 would be two.

In other words, he could extract twice as much chakra in the same amount of time. This didn't just affect his recovery speed—it also directly influenced his chakra capacity.

With this realization, Seimei closed his eyes once more and resumed refining chakra under his new understanding.

About half an hour later, Seimei opened his eyes again.

"Panel!"

With a thought, Seimei summoned his updated proficiency panel.

[Name]: Uchiha Seimei

[Age]: 10

[Constitution]: 5

[Spirit]: 7

[Chakra]: 171(189 → 192)

[Bloodline]: Sharingan · Not Awakened(51/100)

[Skills]:

Chakra Refinement Technique: Lv1(1/200)

Clone Technique: Lv1(20/200)

Transformation Technique: Lv1(19/200)

Substitution Technique: Lv1(18/200)

Basic Taijutsu: Lv1(65/200)

Tool Throwing: Lv2(42/500)

As he had expected, in just half an hour, the effect of the Lv1 Chakra Refinement Technique was already equivalent to running the Lv0 version for a full hour.

That is, fifty points of chakra recovered and one point added to his chakra capacity.

The only downside was that even after reaching Lv1, the Chakra Refinement Technique still required a full hour to gain just one point of proficiency.

In fact, this time there wouldn't even be any bonus proficiency gained.

After all, his previous self had only practiced the Lv0 version of the technique. Otherwise, the extra proficiency earned earlier wouldn't have been so little.

Still, Seimei was content.

At the very least, starting today, the amount of chakra he could use each day would nearly double.

Of course, that energy wasn't being generated from nothing—he would likely need to increase his intake of military ration pills.

But that was a minor problem.

He had bought quite a lot of them in advance. If swallowing more was the price to survive the battlefield later on, he would just have to wrong his stomach for now.

Setting aside those thoughts, Seimei stood and left his room, heading straight to the study left behind by his former self's parents.

Over the past days, he'd either been attending school or training at home, with no spare time to organize their belongings.

He had only skimmed the study previously and remembered seeing a few ninjutsu scrolls, but hadn't looked closely at the contents.

Today would be his first time seriously going through them.

"Let's see what's here."

Muttering softly, Seimei opened the first scroll. It was a signature Uchiha clan ninjutsu—Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

This technique involved spitting out a fireball, combining high-temperature combustion with explosive force. Its power depended on the amount of chakra injected, making it a very practical jutsu.

Its learning difficulty was C-rank—more than enough to serve as a trump card for a Genin.

However, Seimei didn't rush to decide. He opened a few more scrolls.

Two of them also recorded ninjutsu—Fire Release: Phoenix Fire Technique and Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique.

Although both were also C-rank, their difficulty was notably higher than the Great Fireball Technique.

In particular, the Phoenix Fire Technique required a foundation in the Great Fireball Technique; without it, the technique was very hard to master.

In addition, there were two more scrolls, each containing an illusion technique.

One of them was titled Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique, a genjutsu that required the Sharingan to perform.

Its effect was to construct a mental world in which iron stakes would pierce the opponent's body, inflicting pain and rendering them immobile.

Seimei's previous self had not awakened the Sharingan, so leaving this scroll behind was clearly a sign of great hope from his parents.

Unfortunately, his predecessor had not awakened the Sharingan either.

As for the second scroll...

The genjutsu it recorded was a bit unusual. Seimei had at least heard of the Shackling Stakes Technique, but Eikō no Jutsu, or the Technique of Reflecting the Mind, was something he'd never even heard of.

That's right—the second scroll recorded a genjutsu called the Technique of Reflecting the Mind.

Seimei unrolled the scroll and began reading its contents carefully.

As he read deeper, his expression changed again and again.

From casual indifference, to puzzlement and suspicion, and then to urgency and anticipation.

By the time he finished, his face was filled with relief.

And now—

He was absolutely delighted.

The reason? This Technique of Reflecting the Mind might very well be the solution to his current bottleneck—the stagnation of his Sharingan awakening progress.
