SAM POV
Damian walks toward me slowly, almost predatory but I refuse to shrink back.
"What are you?" His voice deadly serious.
"I am human." I say, voice firm. If this is the end, I will go down swinging.
He keeps approaching until there is no space left between us and I have to crane my head to look up at him. His eyes are still glowing, although I haven't seen them be any other color.
His closeness makes my heartrate spike and I feel a blush spread across my cheeks as heat spreads through my body. He growls, but I don't flinch.
His growl vibrates through my body and makes my core throb. My body feels like its tingling in anticipation and I swallow at the sudden dryness in my mouth.
Suddenly there are a lot of growls.
His head snaps towards the group. Bear-man and Eric are at the front of the pack- eyes burning bright yellow, the other males' eyes turn bright red.
His growl intensifies, so does the others and it sounds like dogs warning each other not to take the last piece of meat.
Meat being me.
"Enough!" I shout.
The growling stops and Damian looks back at me. He blinks a couple of times as if he doesn't understand what just happened.
I take a deep breath.
"Look, I don't care what weird shit you guys are into, but," I take a deep breath to try and calm myself. "Please, for the sake of all that is holy, can I get out of the woods, get my hand fixed and taken to the nearest bus stop, rent-a-car, train station or airport. I just want to get home."
It seems to take these people out off whatever trans they where in and Damian gestures towards the woods and I sigh in relief. We walk back to the house and I nearly kiss the porch when we arrive.
Jeremy opens the door and wait for us to pass through. He doesn't look at me and keeps his eyes downcast.
He hands Damian some antiseptic and a bandage. Thank goodness.
At the door to my room, I hold out my hand for it, but he doesn't give it to me, he just walks right in and goes to the bathroom.
I sigh. You know what, at this point, it's not even worth saying it.
I follow him to the bathroom where he's already pouring some of the antiseptic into the basin and mixing it with water. He holds out his hand and after I let out another sigh, I place my hand reluctantly in his.
I once again feel the zap of lightning through my arm when he touches my hand. The warmth of his hold spreading up my arm, through my heart and curling in a tight knot in my stomach.
When the diluted antiseptic hits the cut, I let out a hiss of pain and he stops, looking at me concerned.
I feel another blush cross my cheeks and shake my head, trying to smile. Not trusting my voice at the moment.
He continues cleaning it and wraps it softly in the bandage. I let out another sigh of relief – Yeah I know, queen of sarcasm and sighs over here!
"Thank you" I say softly, staring into his eyes.
His features suddenly look soft. He looks relaxed. Well, as relaxed as I have ever seen him.
"It's a pleasure." He sounds sincere and I even see a small smile creeping into his eyes. I have to look away from the temptation.
I bite my lip, trying to hold myself back from doing something I might regret. But I do have some questions… And maybe he would answer some of them, because honestly, nothing he could say could freak me out more than the stuff already going on in my mind.
"Listen…"I begin hesitantly, tucking a stay of red hair behind my ear. "If you don't want to tell me what's going on, that's fine. But.." I bite my lip again.
DAMIAN POV
Oh, for fuck sakes! If she would just stop blushing and biting her lip, I might get out of this room before I fuck her against a wall.
I hear her words, but I am currently distracted by my cock straining for release from the confinds of my jeans, begging to be buried deep inside her. And at the same time my wolf- the monster I have been arguing with since as long as I can remember- is now sitting quietly with it's tail wagging in my head, focused completely on the woman in front of me.
"I didn't mean for you to get hurt." I blurt out and her eyes snap to mine, scanning for evidence of a lie on my face.
It would be best to tell her everything, but I am still not convinced she is human. Especially not now- her blood did just incinerate one of the most powerful witches in the world and even without the alpha command, she made ALL the male wolves snap out of their mating lust and back down from what might have been carnage with just a word.
"Are you people wolves?" she suddenly asks and my attention snaps to her. I frown.
How did she…?
She jumps up and starts walking up and down excitedly, arms waving.
"I knew it! I mean not everything, Just that with the dogs, the whole Alpha nonsense and the full moon… It just makes so much sense!"
I am not sure if she is sarcastic or sincere.
"Yes." I let out, she still looks surprised.
I run my hand through my hair. And it slaps my thigh as it comes down, making her jump alittle.
"We are wolves and this is my pack. I am the Alpha." I get up and she gives a step back.
"I don't want to hurt you, but you walked straight through the protection spells I had around my land, that was supposed to keep us save from threats, and yes, even human threats. And only I can open the barrier to let anyone in or out..." I take a breath, running another hand through my hair in frustration. "But you just strolled right on in." I say looking at her pointedly and crossing my arms.
"And not only did you come onto my land, but your blood has just incinerated one of the most powerful witches to have ever walked the earth like it was nothing. So, forgive me if I don't completely trust you when you say you are all human."
She seems to lift her head proudly. Not even a hint of awe or fear. Just pride.
Yeah, she is going to be the end of this pack.
"You are not allowed to leave until I saw so." She frowns and I can see the spark of fire in her eyes.
"You can't keep me prisoner." She says with her chin high and somehow my wolf completely agrees with her and I bite back the snide comments I want to say to him.
"You are not a prisoner." I say, making sure she understands every word, my wolf too. "But you cannot leave until I know for a fact that my pack is completely safe, from you or any other threat that might be out there waiting for us."
She frowns, but nods her head agreement. I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding.
