Chapter 1 - Transmigration

Third person pov~

The boy sat at his desk, as he smiled and laughed with his numerous classmates that surrounded him. His uniform was tailored a little too perfectly to his body, his tie was knotted with effortlessness, the kind that could only be achieved after months or perhaps, years of practice.

Everything he did was perfect, from his responses, to his words, to his gestures. He was what everyone wished they could be.

The genius, the popular rock boy, the football star.

Everyone knew his name, everyone wanted to be like him, to be him. So they surrounded him with their presence, practically forcing it on him and he couldn't refuse, he couldn't say no nor push them away.

He was trapped in his own perfection.

Eric was always surrounded by people, but no one actually truly knew him. Everyone had an idea of who he was in their head and because of those expectations, he couldn't quite be himself around them. He didn't want to be a disappointment to the people who looked up to him.

His feelings didn't matter, all that mattered was the pedestal they put him on. And he knew, that beneath all the smiles, even though they never truly knew the real him, some of them didn't like him.

And it came as no surprise when he was pushed forcefully onto the busy road, while on the sidewalk.

People envied him, his seemingly perfect life, and they wanted to be him. But even more so, they wanted him out of the way.

Anyone could've done it, he was caught unaware but he didn't scream. He only let a soft gasp escape him as an oncoming truck slammed into him.

The last thing he heard were screams as he closed his eyes forever.

Or at least, he thought it was forever, until he heard muffled sounds, beckoning on him to wake up.

"Shouldn't we wake him up?" a voice asked.

"Leave him," a stern voice replied.

These voices were too deep for them to be his friends talking. His eyes fluttered open and he realized that he indeed wasn't alone.

There was a long wooden table, and seated around it were men covered in armor. There was a map sprawled across the table and at the head of the table, was a man who looked way too much like the main character of Eric's favorite comic.

He had silver blond hair and striking blue eyes.

Eric blinked as he looked down. He was also dressed in armor. He blinked again and again, as if the scenery would somehow change and he would end up in a hospital bed. Or something.

He looked down on his hands, they were bigger and tougher than he remembered. He looked back up. The man at the head of the table was staring at him with irritation, and that made Eric's heart stutter.

Eric had a secret that he never wanted to get out, no matter what. He spent his entire middle school life shaping himself to be the perfect boy, so that no one would suspect a thing.

Even though it was very young when it happened, it stuck with Eric and made him hide this part of himself.

Eric was into guys.

And now, he was sitting on the same table as someone who looked like his first comic crush.

"Sir Everan," the blue eyed beauty said. "You're unusually quiet today. Should I be concerned?"

Everan? Eric replayed the words over and over in his head. He'd read about this sort of thing numerous times to not guess what was happening.

He'd died and had been transmigrated into the body of Evric Everan, the knight who died after trying to steal the main lead from the female lead.

"Is this a cruel joke?" Eric thought to himself.

Of all the stories he'd read, of all the characters in that comic. He had been thrown into the body of a knight who dared to fall in love with the unattainable main lead, only to be used, discarded and eventually killed off for the plot.

Sir Evric Everan was the head of the knights of the fifth circle. He was head over heels in love with Kaelith Thorne, and was very, most definitely dead by the end of volume nine.

But that was not Eric's most pressing issue.

The conversation these men were having insinuated that they were very much in the middle of a war.

Eric wasn't a fighter, and he certainly didn't know his way around a sword.

Evric was the leader of the knights and a very talented knight, he was only second to Kaelith in terms of strength but right now, the person sitting in that room was not Evric Everan.

And if Eric decided to go out and fight, he was certain that he wouldn't make it to the presumed ninth volume.
