Chapter 3 - Chapter 3.3, The Opportunity to Lift the Table

Makoto returned to his residence and saw Hinata Ayari lying lazily on his sofa, with a pure white pet dog lying in her arms.

She is much older than Makoto, has reached adulthood, and her appearance is quite similar to Hinata Ayano, but her temperament is lighter.

Makoto walked over, poured himself a glass of water, and then sat down on the other side of the sofa.

"I remember locking the door."

"Don't you welcome me?"

Ayari glanced at him with a dull expression, continuing to caress the dog's soft fur with one hand.

The white dog was originally raised by Makoto, and Ayari often visited his house to play with it because she liked it very much.

Before Makoto went to the battlefield, he gave the key to his home to Ayari Hinata, originally wanting her to help clean his room occasionally.

In his memory, the relationship between the two was very close, and their residences were near each other. Makoto once had a lot of admiration for this beautiful sister.

But it could only be admiration. Ayari, like her sister, is already engaged, and the other party is Hiashi Hyuga's younger brother.

It's normal for young people to admire older, accomplished women. Perhaps Ayari had long since noticed this, but she hadn't taken it seriously.

The two are quite different in age. Perhaps, in two years, Ayari will have a child, and Makoto is really just a kid who doesn't understand much.

"Sby."

Hearing Makoto's call, the dog that was originally lying in Ayari's arms immediately stood up and ran to Makoto's side, affectionately rubbing his legs. Makoto picked it up with one hand and placed it on his lap.

Seeing the dog being called away, Ayari looked helpless, sat up slowly, let her long shawl hair fall behind her, and watched Makoto quietly petting the dog, her eyes showing a complicated look.

After he came back from the battlefield, his temperament changed drastically. The feeling he gave was completely different from the past. He became silent and withdrawn. He used to run to her whenever he had nothing to do, which sometimes made her upset.

But after he returned, he never took the initiative to find her again. They didn't chat much, and he didn't say a word about battlefield matters to her.

She learned from the tribe that all of Makoto's teammates had died in one mission. Only he survived, and even his own eyes were destroyed.

Was the blow too big? Ayari felt pity.

War is cruel and helpless.

She took the initiative to stir up the topic: "Have you seen Lord Minato?"

"Yes."

"What about him?"

"Same as the legend says."

"I heard he is likely to be the next Hokage."

"I heard that too."

"Is Lord Minato easy to get along with?"

"He's quite kind."

The conversation seemed to be ending with just a few words. With Namikaze Minato's current reputation in Konoha, most ordinary people would talk endlessly about his heroic deeds when they mentioned him, but Makoto seemed uninterested in continuing the conversation.

Ayari felt helpless and thought about whether to leave. At this time, Makoto asked suddenly: "Are there many Byakugan left in the clan?"

The change in topic was too abrupt, so Ayari didn't react for a moment: "Quite a lot..."

Then she thought carefully and added: "The clans of the past dynasties kept intact Byakugan when they died. Some outstanding members of the branch would also have their Byakugan taken off by successive patriarchs before their death. These Byakugan are sealed through special methods, and the cumulative number over generations is definitely quite large."

"Where are these eyes kept?" Makoto asked again.

"How would I know? Only Hiashi-sama and the person responsible for managing them would know," Ayari laughed.

After saying that, she felt strange again and asked Makoto: "Why are you asking these questions?"

Although it is rare for the Hyuga clan to change their eyes, there have been many cases in the past. If a clan member has an eye injury or suffers from an eye disease during a battle, the clan will prepare for the eye change. Therefore, among the Hyuga clan, there has never been a blind person.

It's just that this is the first case of a Byakugan being destroyed due to the launch of the bird spell seal in the cage.

Makoto said calmly: "It's nothing, I just have to change my eyes soon, but I don't know whose eyes I will use, so I feel very strange and wonder if I can observe those eyes before then."

Ayari thought it was ridiculous and said, "What's so good about this? They're all human eyeballs, and it's probably weird and scary."

After saying that, she felt it was inappropriate. Thinking of his current situation, she seemed to be very concerned about this kind of thing and could understand it.

After pondering for a moment, Ayari said again: "Hiashi-sama probably needs to agree to this kind of thing."

She felt that Makoto was really worried about what was going on in his eyes, but it was completely different from what Ayari was thinking.

As a wealthy Konoha family, the Hyuga clan's symbol is the unique bloodline ability of Byakugan in the entire ninja world.

This is an honor for the Hyuga family.

But Makoto really wants to get rid of it.

Hinata wants to roll his eyes again to put the Caged Bird Curse seal on him again so that he could put the shackles on him.

Otherwise, how could he, a branch member with mediocre strength and qualifications, have gone to great lengths to convene senior clan leaders for meetings and discussions?

How can we avoid all this?

At present, he can't fight against the entire Hyuga clan by his own strength alone.

It's a pity that he doesn't have the system in third-rate novels where sleeping women can make him stronger. His only advantage is his understanding of the world and the direction of history. If he doesn't get rid of this fate, no matter how strong he becomes, he will still be controlled by others.

"Makoto?"

Makoto raised his head and happened to meet Ayari's gaze. Her white eyes were as warm as water, staring at him motionlessly.

"What are you worried about?" she asked.

What was he worried about? There would definitely be something suitable for him if there were so many Byakugan in the clan. Besides, what could the clan have to worry about if they were so interested in his affairs? Shouldn't he be flattered by this?

Ayari didn't understand. She looked at Makoto's dark eyes, which didn't belong to him. Is that look so strange?

At this time, Spy, who was lying on Makoto's legs, raised his head and glanced at the two of them, then lowered his head to continue enjoying Makoto's touch.

The room was quiet, and you could hear the hands of the wall clock ticking.

Makoto sighed softly: "Sister Ayari."

Ayari was slightly startled when she heard this, but when Makoto came back, she didn't often hear him call her that.

"I just don't know what the future will look like," Makoto said calmly.

Ayari was speechless. Looking at this young man who was full of worries, she said in silence for a long time: "Don't worry, there will definitely be a Byakugan that can suit you... If you want to see it, I will let Hiashi-sama help you. Be more attentive."

"Thank you, Sister Ayari."

Ayari just smiled lightly: "Don't think so much, rest in peace during this time."
