Chapter 9 - Afterglow

The next few days, everything felt surreal. Everyone at school talked about the festival. Some had seen us together. My friends teased me.

But I didn't care.

At lunch, she nudged me. "Did you keep your wish?"

"Yeah," I said. "Did you?"

She nodded, smiling.

We didn't talk about what came next. But every look, every quiet smile between us, said more than words.

Even the smallest things felt different—like the way she waited for me after school, or how she always saved the last dumpling for me in her bento.

Was this what having a girlfriend felt like?
