Chapter 49 - Trapped by His Dark Desires

I stared in disbelief at the sliding partition between Landon's suite and my so-called "room." Not only was it connected directly to his chambers, but there was no separate door leading to the hallway. I was completely trapped.

The worst part? When I tried to slide the partition closed, it jammed halfway, the wooden panels creaking in protest. Cursing under my breath, I yanked harder, only to hear a deep chuckle behind me.

"Having trouble?" Landon's voice was infuriatingly smug.

I turned to find him leaning against the doorframe of his bedchamber, arms crossed over his broad chest, his crimson hair loosely framing his face. His gray eyes gleamed with satisfaction as they tracked my futile efforts.

"It seems to be stuck," I said through gritted teeth.

"What a pity." His lips curled into that arrogant smirk I was coming to despise. "Alpha Tristan mentioned these old partitions sometimes warp with the seasons. Perhaps it's the humidity."
