Chapter 67 - A Demon's Salvation

"We're going to die here, aren't we?" I whispered, tasting my own blood as it trickled into my mouth.

My body slumped against the moss-covered stone, strength fading with each labored breath. The wound in my side burned like hellfire—silver poisoning spreading through my veins, weakening both my wolf and vampire halves. No hybrid healing could save me now.

I'd managed to shift back to human form, but it had cost me nearly all my remaining strength. Now I lay broken, watching the vampires circle closer with predatory patience, their crimson eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"Six left," I counted silently, assessing my chances with detached clarity. "No weapons. Body failing. No backup coming."

My fingers dug into the soft earth beneath me. At least I would die under the open sky, not locked away in some dungeon. Small comfort, but I would take what I could get.
