I stood frozen at the balcony's edge, watching the horror unfold below. Regina's screams pierced through the gag as one of the vampire guards yanked her hair back, exposing her throat. Another circled the platform where she was bound, grinning with anticipation.
"Please stop this," I whispered, my voice breaking as I turned to face the Vampire King. "She has nothing to do with this."
His crimson eyes flickered with cruel amusement. "Nothing to do with it? My dear, she's the reason my brother is dead. That half-breed abomination has vampire blood in her veins, yet chose to side with the wolves." He spat the words like venom. "She deserves far worse than this."
I flinched as Regina's muffled scream reached us again. The guard had torn her shirt, exposing her to the jeering crowd of vampires.
"Your Majesty!" A guard burst onto the balcony, breathing hard. "We've captured another one—a male Guardian."
My blood ran cold. Not Landon. Please, not Landon.
