SERAPHINA
The moment Roman stepped through the doorway, I knew everything was over.
His golden-brown eyes held no warmth as they locked with mine—just cold, calculated fury that sent ice crawling up my spine. The silver streak in his hair caught the light as he moved into the room with predatory grace.
"Seraphina." My name on his lips sounded like a curse.
Panic exploded in my chest. He knew. Somehow, he knew everything.
"Roman," I forced my voice to remain steady. "What brings you here? Is everything alright?"
His jaw tightened. "Drop the act. I know what you did."
Those six words shattered whatever composure I had left. My mind raced frantically, sorting through possible escapes. Wesley was gone—he'd disappeared after Bianca's testimony. That was it. Wesley. My lifeline.
"It was Wesley!" I blurted out, tears springing to my eyes on command. "I swear, Roman, whatever you think I did, it was all Wesley Sterling's plan."
