The fury on Damian Gallagher's face was like an approaching storm as he surveyed the horrific scene before him. His sister Alice lay lifeless on the hospital bed while a young woman with determination etched on her features performed CPR. Richard's mother still had her claws dug into the woman's arm, trying to pull her away.
"I said, remove your hands," Damian repeated, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
When the older woman hesitated, one of Damian's bodyguards stepped forward. The movement alone was enough – she released her grip and stumbled backward.
Damian approached the bed, his face ashen as he watched the young woman continue compressions on his sister's chest.
"How long has she been down?" he asked, his voice tight with controlled panic.
"About two minutes," Lyra answered between compressions. "No one would help."
With a sharp gesture, Damian signaled to his men. "Get the doctors in here. Now."
